Review Topic: F-2A Visa

Little background on our case. We both were divorced before after a short marriage and i was
expecting more questions on that and more proof with respect to Bona Fide Relationship. Even though
our marriages were short (1-2 months) it did take 9 months to 3yrs for the final divorce to come
through. We did not know each other then and got introduced to ourselves in Oct 2012, 2-3 yrs after we got our
divorce.

We booked a premier room (with b/F) at the Trident hotel at BKC. I booked it at hotels.com
($450 for 2 days including taxes, expensive but didn't want to travel too much) but found it cheaper on onetravel and travel guru.com for $379 and hotels.com did a price match and gave us a refund. Consulate is right behind Trident
hotel and hardly takes a min to walk to the consulate. Extremely close and cannot get a better
location than this. We started at 6:30AM from our room for our 7:30AM appointment and reached the consulat... read complete review

This review for my second interview at the consulate, after I was put on admin processing for 14 months, following my first interview.

Based on my earlier experience, I was well prepared on what to expect. The first thing I did was NOT show up at 6 AM thinking I'd be able to beat the lines. Regardless of if you show at 5 AM or 6.45 AM, you wont know where to line up until the VFS rep shows up and asks to form lines from a arbitrary point on the ground.

Thankfully, the Immigrant visa (IV) line isnt as long as the Non-immigrant one. Also, IV applicants are ushered into the consulate before the NIV ones, so the time from lining up to getting a token is under 30 mins.

First comes the document collection (typically with an Indian person). Since this was my second interview, the documents just consisted of updated versions of civil documents (PCC, Medical). After submitting these and fielding random questions over the names of my petitioner and j... read complete review

My wife went to the interview at 7:30 morning. Her interview was at 8:30 am. the day before interview she finished her biometrics which took about 15 minutes at VAC.
about 8:15 am she was called by an Indian officer whom my wife submitted PCC and medical. HE did not take I-864 but he took my w2s for last three years. (I believe may be because I had I 864 submitted in November which may be considered as recent) HE asked one question: who is calling you? After that my wife was advised to wait for her number.
about 20 minutes later she got her name. The CO was a young white lady. She asked the following questions:

Who is calling you?
Is he working for the Police department?
When and how did your husband go to USA?
Was he married before?
Why did he divorce?
Why did he change his last name? (I did not change my last name but I removed kumar from my first name when I became citizen)
When did he visit you last time?

Overall a good experience

His interview lasted about 30 minutes but he was at the consulate for 3hours. I was afraid that because we didn't send any evidence of our marriage (marriage certificate only) with the I-130 or during the NVC stage, that he would not be given the opportunity to show evidence or that the decision about our case would have been made before the interview, but thankfully that was not the case.

Questions he was asked:

Who is calling you?
How did you guys meet?
When did you guys meet?
When did you propose?
When did you decide to get married?
Where were you when you met your wife?
Then was asked to show wedding pictures and name the people in the pictures
Where does your wife live?
What does she do for a living?
Is this your first marriage?
Your wife's? (This is my second marriage)
Why did she get divorced?
When did she get divorced?

So the interview question there were ask by CO officer:

1) what is your husband name?

2) When did you meet your husband?

3) Why did you guys have such a simple wedding?

The Co officer had asked her to write name and birth date of her parents which is odd. Then the CO officer was giving instruction how to pay $165.00 for the green card but didn't say anything about being approve. So my wife asked the officer if the visa was approved or not and he said the magic word " APPROVE" offcorse.

Interview it self didn't was not long but the wait time was longer.
