She was staying at the Sofitel Mumbai, BKC. I reserved the hotel thru' Orbitz and got a rate of $142. Very nice hotel and only about 3 min walk from the consulate. She arrived at 7 am for a 7:30 appointment. She was able to go in immediately at 7 am.
The actual interview for my wife was very short. Like less than 2 minutes. They only asked her 3 questions:
1. Who is calling you?
2. What does he do for work?
3. Was it a love marriage or arranged marriage?
Then they said your visa is approved.
The total time inside the consulate was less than 2 hours. At about 9 am India time she came back to the hotel, called, and gave me the good news.
The CEAC website was showing Administrative Processing for about a day. Then very early the next day the status changed to "Issued". I am guessing the passport is in transit to Hyderabad right now.

My interview was at 7.30 am and reached the embassy at 7 am.We stood in the queue for 7.30 appointments and the officers outside, advised us to keep only the passport and the visa appointment letter in hand. Then we were let inside. Mobile phones are not allowed so better do not take a chance as i am not sure if they have a facility to keep the things inside. Then the officers inside will give you a small chit with instructions on how to keep the docs ready, eg, DS260 confirmation page, copy of police certificate, copy of marriage certificate, copy of birth certificate, 1 photo, affidavit of support. Also if you do not have photocopies, then dont worry, they have zerox machine inside, they charge only 5 rupees per page. We were then given a token number. Within few minutes, the counters became open and my token no flashed on screen, the Indian consular returned all my original documents and he opened my sealed Medical report and attached it with my file. He gave the pamphlet on domesti... read complete review

Interview was on June 2nd at 10am. Husband reached there at 8am. Got in the line at 9am. Had his fingerprinting done and waited for the final interview. Then he took the oath and the lady asked him just few questions.
Who is calling you?
husband: my spouse, X
Why, is she not ur wife?!! (she felt funny that he said the term spouse)
Where was she born? (I was born abroad)
Husband: she was born in X city, X country
Oh, was she born in XX hospital? (Counselor was curious about my birth land!!)
Why did u go abroad? how long?
Then came "Congratulations, your visa is approved!!"
He spent only 5 minutes with her and just 2hr in the consulate.
Hope this helps!!
