I had my medical and interview in Frankfurt today. The medical appointment was at 7.30 and fairly easy. I arrived at the Consulate around 9.20 (appointment at 9.30). I went to the Non-Immigrant Visa line, obtained a ticket and got in line for the security checks and entrance. At the window I was asked if I brought any electronic devices (I didn't). The security check was airport like. Then I was sent to the main building on the left. When I walked in, I showed my ticket to a lady behind a desk and she sent me to the far corner of the room. I sat down and waited for my number to be called. After only a few minutes of waiting I was called to window 23. I showed my passport, gave her another passport pic and the visa deposit confirmation. The lady gave me an envelope to be self addressed and an instruction paper on how to organize my papers for the next window. I sat back down, put the 4,25 Euro stamps on the envelope and my address on it and sorted my birth certificate, police certificat... read complete review

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that my visa was granted yesterday! The interview was in the morning at the Frankfurt, Germany consulate. The day began by waking up early and being so nervous that I was not even able to eat any breakfast. Then I left the hotel and took the subway to the consulate.
When I got there there already was a line. So, we waited in the cold to get our number and finally be admitted to the consulate. For that we had to show our invitation letter and then go through a airport-like security check. After leaving my cell phone in the care of the security officers I continued on to the great waiting hall.
The security woman there told me to go to window 22 and "pay" the visa fees, then sit down and wait. Of course my fees were already paid for, and the cashier told me to just sit down and wait till my number was called. So that's what I did. They called my number and I went up to window 23. The woman there wanted a bun... read complete review

Been staying at the Allenhof hotel which is a 15 minute walk from the consulate away. One night incl breakfast cost 60eur. It's ok for only staying a night.
The counter to receive your W123 ticket at the embassy is to the left of the entrance. Once you have obtained this by showing your passport and invitation letter you queue up in front of the main entrance to pass the airport style security check.
After passing that you go across the courtyard into the main building. By the time I made it there my number was already on the board for counter 23. Handed over passport, photograph got blank envelope to self address. Required postage as of writing is 4.25eur. Check at Post.de for big registered letter max weight 1000g in case of changes.
Waited for a few minutes until being called up to counter 21 where birth cert, police cert, military record and affidavit were collected. Been told that they got the medical records from the exam a week earlie... read complete review

The interview was very smooth, they only asked us where we met. We were prepared for the worse but they only asked us where we met. They didn't want to see any pictures or documents. We had sent in our original packet many pictures, airline tickets, phone records, etc.. They might have thought they have seen enough of us together and the interview was smooth sailing!!! Good luck everyone and keep your head up! Patience makes the heart grow fonder!

As everybody else before me stated: the interview in Frankfurt is neither hard nor scary. My interview was at 9.30, I was there at 9.15.
(Although it should be pretty clear, absolutely no cell phones are allowed. I knew that but there were two people standing outside who were scrambling around trying to figure out how to dispose of their's temporarily.)
When I came in my number was already on the screen, the lady told me I had to get new passport photos because I had my glasses on in mine, I really thought I had read every piece of instruction often enough but I must have missed it. I could do it right there, the photo booths charge 6 Euros which I found surprisingly moderate for their setting. Everything else was really simple and the way everybody else told it, I was just asked to explain a little how my fiancé and I met.
I was done at 10.45, so the whole thing took 90 minutes.
One more thing, I forgot to send passport photos with the forms of packet 3... read complete review
