Finally, after all the stress and trouble!! We drove to Frankfurt today, went through the interview process, medical exam taken and APPROVED!

Now Claudia's officially an ALIEN!

It was a pain, I gotta say, though mainly not due to the consulate in Frankfurt. We arrived at the consulate at 7:45, fifteen minutes before our interview time. Lots of people were already waiting and we experienced some pretty nasty weather--rain, cold and wind. Good thing I put on my jeans today, instead of just shorts like normal.

So nearly two hours later we made it through security. Most of the guards were friendly enough, though the fella wandering around outside talking with people was a bit short with everyone. Claudia got upset 'cause the families with children weren't being brought to the front of the lines...thank God we left our two at home!

Once we got into the building (wet and cold) everything started moving at light speed... read complete review

All the worries...for nothing!
I finally had my interview appointment today, after an application process that took approx. 1 year! I am not quite sure why they call it "interview", because I didn't really have to TALK to anybody. It all went pretty smoothly. Entered after waiting in line for only 10 minutes. Got checked for any prohibited items. Went in and showed my documents to a lady that has been doing her job for way too long! I had to take new photos, because the ones I brought with me were not good enough! I then got to talk to a really nice employee who checked my documents with me and explained the further steps to be taken. I even got to ask questions!!! And after waiting for another ten minutes I had to proceed to another window to "swear" that every statement i made is correct. They took my fingerprints and off I went. So I was in and out within one hour. Unbelievable. And all that after a 6 hour long train ride. Yuck. But i... read complete review

I was at the doors half an hour before they opened and out within 2 hours. Everyone was very pleasant and the visa was in my mailbox in less than a week.

Visa approved!

Finally this day came for me too. I left the house early in the morning (4:30 am) because I was afraid of the traffic, a lot of rain and trucks on autobahn 5 but all good, I arrived to the Consulate in Frankfurt at 6:00 am. I parked in front of the Consulate and I was the second in line..but first person was for a work visa so....and the third in line was a VJ friend, Diana (John&Diana)-approved too :D .

Inside, first you pass the security, then you go to the visa building.

Window 22 pay the fee, window 23 give the number from the entrance, visa application (DS-230 part 2), 1 photo (I showed her a bunch of pictures and she picked the correct one lol) and I received a list with the order they want my documents at the next window and an envelope to put stamps on it (value of the stamps 4.25 euro).

Window 18, the lady (very nice lady) took the requested documents and explained me about the POE and remov... read complete review

Interview went smoothly. Got to the Consulate way ahead of time around 6.45 in the morning. Appointment was at 8.
Once I entered the building and passed security, I was sent from window to window until I got called for the interview with the Consul.
Small talk - a few questions about how my fiancee and I met and what I do for a living. Signed the visa application and was told that the visa would come in the mail within a week. The whole interview took only 5 minutes and the guy was very laid-back and friendly. No worries!

Stayed at Hotel Alleenhof in Frankfurt for 55 Euros/night. It definitely wasn't the best I've ever stayed at but close to the Consulate and a very yummy Kebap place around the corner.

Good luck to everyone.
