An outstanding operation in my opinion. Very efficient. I was really impressed with how friendly the staff was. We were there for my wife and daughter's CR1. We had all of our paperwork lined up - we also had the medical done beforehand in Munich, so we didn't have to hassle with that. Our appointment was for 0930, we arrived about 0840. Arriving early was not a problem.
We were done at 1045.

The interview was a breeze, very friendly people over there ! I almost spent 3 hours, due to the consul's availability, but everything went great. Just make sure to receive a waiting number that starts with a "W" upon registry. That's the letter for K visas. I accidentally got a "U" number and had to clarify at the first window - which probably cost me 15 minutes of time because they had to transfer my number to the immigrant visa unit.
BTW: I can really recommend the hotel that is mentioned here, "Friedberger Warte". It's literally just around the corner, and the price is unbeatable when booking via ebookers.de. And it's really nice.

This morning, at 8am, was my interview at the consulate in Frankfurt.
Got there at around 7.40 - parked about 200 m away from the consulate on Giessener Straße - and there was pretty much no line. Went to window on left hand side first, got a processing number, and then got in line to go in and through security.
Was with second group to get in - in the meantime it is allowed again to bring bags - just still no electronic devices - and afterwards got, like everybody else in the big waiting hall.
Was called up to window 23 and little later to window 21 all pretty quickly, they had all my data and files - other than the passport picture & passport.
Waiting for the consul (window 17) took a little longer, bout an hour, by then I was a little nerve-wracked - but he pretty much only asked me two questions:
Is all what you stated on form DS230 correct - I said yet - then I had to sign and give my fingerprints - and then he asked me
"How did you meet ... read complete review

I took the train from Stuttgart to Frankfurt, got there around 0708. i went to the medical appointment prior to the interview, which i would recommend, bc at the embassy they ask if you already went to the medical. the doctor´s office opens at 0730. so i was one of the first, had to fill out a form about deseases. i returned that to the receptionist and then she took my information, passport, picture, money. she sent me into the basement to the lab, where my blood, urin, and a x-ray of my chest was taken. i had to wait for the x-ray pic (approx. 5 min), went back upstairs, where i waited for about two minutes until the doc called me in. he checked my reflexes, eyesight, bloodpressure and checked my immunization papers. i had an antibody test prior to the medical to proof that i was still immun against the coomon deseases they ask for. unfortunately they recently added a shot agains (Gebärmutterhalskrebs) which i obviously didn´t have. so, the doc told me that i need that shot first... read complete review

J's interview was yesterday, he was scheduled for 8:30 AM. Arrived by 8:00, and then waited for 4+ hours. He didn't mention if it was crowded, only that the consul was busy elsewhere. After 4 hours, the woman at one of the windows told him it would be about another hour; later she told him that it would be too late for his medical, which was supposed to be after the interview.
He said they didn't ask any questions about us or for proof of our relationship.
He felt that if the consul had been more readily available, the whole thing would have take about 2 1/2 hours.
He also said he was astonished that the interview was conducted in German; he has very good English, so it would definitely not have been a problem.
4 out of 5; too bad they didn't allow him to get his medical done before the interview...
