Been staying at the Allenhof hotel which is a 15 minute walk from the consulate away. One night incl breakfast cost 60eur. It's ok for only staying a night.
The counter to receive your W123 ticket at the embassy is to the left of the entrance. Once you have obtained this by showing your passport and invitation letter you queue up in front of the main entrance to pass the airport style security check.
After passing that you go across the courtyard into the main building. By the time I made it there my number was already on the board for counter 23. Handed over passport, photograph got blank envelope to self address. Required postage as of writing is 4.25eur. Check at Post.de for big registered letter max weight 1000g in case of changes.
Waited for a few minutes until being called up to counter 21 where birth cert, police cert, military record and affidavit were collected. Been told that they got the medical records from the exam a week earlie... read complete review

The interview was very smooth, they only asked us where we met. We were prepared for the worse but they only asked us where we met. They didn't want to see any pictures or documents. We had sent in our original packet many pictures, airline tickets, phone records, etc.. They might have thought they have seen enough of us together and the interview was smooth sailing!!! Good luck everyone and keep your head up! Patience makes the heart grow fonder!

As everybody else before me stated: the interview in Frankfurt is neither hard nor scary. My interview was at 9.30, I was there at 9.15.
(Although it should be pretty clear, absolutely no cell phones are allowed. I knew that but there were two people standing outside who were scrambling around trying to figure out how to dispose of their's temporarily.)
When I came in my number was already on the screen, the lady told me I had to get new passport photos because I had my glasses on in mine, I really thought I had read every piece of instruction often enough but I must have missed it. I could do it right there, the photo booths charge 6 Euros which I found surprisingly moderate for their setting. Everything else was really simple and the way everybody else told it, I was just asked to explain a little how my fiancé and I met.
I was done at 10.45, so the whole thing took 90 minutes.
One more thing, I forgot to send passport photos with the forms of packet 3... read complete review

Everything went well, until they told me that they haven't got my Medical report, even I had the medical taken 4 weeks earlier. Window 23 was easy, the Lady behind window 19 couldn't stop smiling and was really nice. Interview was hold on window 17 and it was just 5 questions. Appointment was at 7.30am, got there at 6.45am, entry at 7.15am (was 5th in the Non-Immigration line) and out at exactly 9am!
The Interview was in german, the Lady didn't even ask me if I want to have it in german or english, she just started to talk in german, so I replied in german.

The arrival: He arrived at the embassy at 6:45am and they were let into the embassy at 7:30am. He showed his interview letter, passport and walked through security with the copies of documents I sent to him.
Inside: He had to talk to 3 different individuals at the consulate. The first lady gathered the payment for shipping his visa to him. It was 4,00EUR for that. He had to write his name on the envelope and then she took his passport. The second lady was a real sweetheart he said. This lady looked through his paperwork and verified that everything was correct. There was only one issue that was cleared up and that was my income. I didn't have 125% to the poverty line and she asked my husband about that and he cleared up the fact that I was in Germany with him and couldn't make money there. She said, it wasn't a problem because if you added the months I was away from the USA, I would have been above the 125% line. After that, there were no issues whatsoever and my hubby s... read complete review
