Arrived at Consulate on time, short line before me. You get called up to a window on the outside of the consulate, where they check on your appointment and hand you a number, that number will be YOUR number for that day, mine was "W505". Then had to wait a few minutes at the security line, with a really funny security officer, always going "That's gonna be a awesome day people! Just wanna remind you: No electronical devices, cell phones, microwaves, refrigerators etc.!" LOL Then me and another person got called into the first building, where they do the security screening. They took my umbrella out of my purse and gave me a number (so I can pick it up again afterwards). Then we left the building and walked over to the next one. There was a huge room, with a glass roof, seating for almost 300 people, and at the walls like 35 windows where the consulate office sit behind. The guy at the entrance told me to go in the very back and take a seat there. It was 7:40am by then. A few people sat... read complete review

The Consulate staff was very nice, helpful, and polite! No issues or complaints from our side. It was great to do it in Frankfurt!

The interview did not consist of any marriage questions, rather more about where we're planning to live and what work we're looking for. The officer reviewing our case was really nice!!!

My interview was scheduled for 03/24/09 at 8:30 a.m. I arrived at the embassy at around 8:10 a.m. and the line outside wasn't long at all. There were only 2 people in front of me, so it was pretty fast until I was allowed to enter the embassy. The security personnel was really friendly, unlike most security teams on airports.

After only a short wait of around 10 minutes, my number got called for the first time and I had to go to the famous window #23. They took my passport, my visa fee receipt and a passport picture. I had to retake the picture at a booth they have in that great waiting hall because I only had a picture where I am wearing my glasses which they didn't accept. Something about eyes and ears not visible enough. The very nice woman then told me what is going to happen next and that I should start to put my documents in a specific order. I already knew that was coming, so I was organized weeks before my interview. This measure is supposed to speed up the proce... read complete review

I was able to come to Germany to stand by Torsten while he was in the interview. Our medical appointment was at 730am, which took about an hour and a half. There were about 4 other people who were having their visa medical exams for the USA as well, so we were able to share stories and experiences while we waited. There was a problem with Torsens exam: he did not have his MMR vaccination which is required. The doctor sent us away with instructions to get the vaccination the next morning at Torstens house doctor and fax the confirmation back to the doctor in Frankfurt to complete the medical exam processing. We were at the doctor about 1.5 hours.

Our interview was immediately after the doctor at 930 am. We arrived at 920, were given the ticket, and went through security. Allow extra time for this if possible. Our number was called and we were given instructions to purchase postage and arrange our documents in a certain order. ... read complete review
