My appointment was at 9am. We live only an hour away from the Consular, got there at 8.45am with my 3 yr old. We joined the immigrant visa (right) line, handed over our passports with the packet 4 and was given a ticket number. Went through security. I was initially worried as we had come armed with pack lunches..sandwiches, chocolate penguin, juices, oranges, the whole nine lol!!! But was told it wasn't a problem, I think they were more concerned about any electronics.
Once inside, the Info Desk Personnel asked me for my ticket, I was told to sit and wait for my number to be called on the far left side of the room. Five minutes later, was called to window 23 where a lady collected my passport. An hour later, we were called to window 21, where a Consular Personnel gave me a receipt back for my DHL label, went through all the info on Part I of the DS-230 form to ensure they were correct, then he explained the POE process (the brown envelope that is sent back along... read complete review

My appointment was at 8.30 am. This is the time you have to be at the gates of the embassy. I went there by tram and had my backpack with phone etc stored at a booth next to the train station (it costs 5 Euros, but it is save there). There were two lines, one really long one and a short one. I asked the guard guy where I can line up and was pointed to the short one. After a bit of waiting, I was called to the window and handed in my invitation and passport, and was given a slip with a number (W610). Then I went inside for the security checkup, which was an overall pleasant experience. Then I went inside the hall. It is just as described, a big hall with lots of chairs and several numbered windows all around. I sat down and was after a while called to window 23, where my passport was taken and all my docs checked (I didn't bring anything with me but my passport and the incvitation). The woman said "It's all there, and in perfect order" Then she told me to sit down an... read complete review

My appointment was scheduled for 8.30, but I arrived by 8:00 because I was nervous and couldn’t sleep. There was a security guard in front of the entrance who asked me what I was doing and I told him I was early for my appointment (it says that you should not be earlier than 15 minutes on the website). The guy was really friendly and just said to go in. Both lines were almost empty, but that may have been due to the fact that it was raining. I got on the right line and didn’t have to wait long to go to the entrance. The man did not want to see my invitation, but only my passport. I was assigned number W607.
Next, I had to go through security. A guard outside asked for my electronics and etc. You have to put small things in plastic bags. I had to take my watch off, but I was allowed to put it in my own bag. The security is similar to the airport security. Your bag will get scanned, and you have to walk through a machine.
After that, I had to walk to an... read complete review

Below is my husband's experience right after his Interview for his K-1. This is his real reaction and I was lucky enough to save the conversation. Enjoy! I hope it helps you.

Well so we left at midnight for our 6 hour ride to Frankfurt. My mom drove the first 3 hours, giving me the chance to sleep a bit in the car. Then I too over for the second half and she fell asleep :D
When we arrived there it was less full than I thought it would be. I've been reading reports from other people online and they always wrote about huge waiting lines and stuff
Well there wasn't one for me outside, I could walk straight to the window to check in and get my waiting room number. At first the guy at the window wanted a DS-160 form from me and I was like "Hey but there was no mention anywhere I needed that!" and he then asked for which visa I'm applying, so I said K-1 and he ... read complete review

Arrived at 7:45, as directed - line around the block! But immigrant visa applicants can use the shorter line to the right, thankfully. For those of you who have been to Berlin, please note - Frankfurt does NOT have cubbies you can put your electronics/phones/etc in & you will have to go back to your car.....this cost us 4-5 places in line, unfortunately!
Also, the OF-169 form from the embassy webpage is wrong & as expected, the photo is a full frontal, not the wacky 3/4 frontal that form 169 says! Also, I might have just missed this, but IF you're using a co-sponsor, you need to prove that they are a US citizen. Sounds logical, but with a massive binder of papers it's easy to overlook! A copy of a US passport will do.
The process is slow but painless. First window is to hand in your photo & money, second window is to review your application packet & information, third window is for the interview. Our interview took about 5 minutes, tops. However, other co... read complete review
