Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Very easy interview. Only 3 questions "How we met", "Where spouse works". No question about tourist visa denial that we had, but they had that file along with our case. Be sure to take copies of I-864 & taxes, they will ask for these. Nobody is allowed to attend the interview and no place to sit outside. Cellphones can be left at the guard shack. Visa was ready to be picked up in 2 days, even with the visa printing system being down and effecting everyone globally. Now just hope our POE experience is as smooth. First really positive experience with Tbilisi consulate thus far.

It is very difficult to get any information out of this consulate prior to physically arriving for the interview. I called and spoke to a representative, "Adele", who told me that it is no problem at all, I (the USC spouse) would automatically be added to the security list and be allowed into the consulate for the interview. This information was completely false, I was not on the list, and I was made to wait outside for over 3 hours while my nervous wife hauled a huge stack of documents inside with her alone.

The good part is this: they are very friendly (once you get past the rude Georgian security building). My wife was inside for a long time, but they were running behind and she was really just sitting in a waiting room for almost all of this time. Once called to window #1 (window #1 = approval, window #2 = denial) she spent less than 10 minutes chatting with the Immigration Officer, mostly about me, and was told she was approved. They asked about my home address... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiance's appointment was at 10:00. We arrived an hour early because we were afraid there would be long lines, but there were only a few people in line. They let him go in (I had to wait outside) around 9:15.

He said he and one woman were the only K-1 visa interviews for the morning (probably for the day). They went through all the tourist visas first (denying all of them) and then continued onto the work visas, ending with the two fiance visas.

They asked him to swear he genuinely loves me and then started the interview. They asked where I live in America, where we will get married, why it is a different place than my home state (my grandpa is sick), why he had originally applied for a tourist visa in September and then applied for the K-1 visa in October (we wanted him to be in the States for Christmas/New Year), and finally said he would receive his passport in approximately one week. He asked if that meant he was approved, and she said yes!

I arrived at the consulate at 8:30 am. my interview was at 9 am. the security let us in the embassy at like 8:50 am.
i was among the B2 and other type of visa applicants.
the local stuff took the passport and DS-160 confirmation page from me.
after like 15 minutes they called me again for finger prints.
again in like 15 minutes the local embassy stuff asked me to submit all the documents i had except evidences.
i had to wait 40 more minutes and then the consular officer called my name in the speaker.
i went up to the window. the concular officer asked me just 4 questions:
how i met my fiance, which state we are going to get married, why i had two B2 denials before and why i got married (i got married with a girl while i was in a relationship with my fiance)
i explained to her everything and then she said that i got approved and my visa will be ready in a week
it was really easy and i was worried and nerv... read complete review

My fiancee's account was relatively positive. She arrived at 8:30 am and there was already a line of about 6 or 7 people even though the embassy opened at 9 am. When they let people in, there were storage areas for phones, etc. although they suggest you don't bring additional things.

She provided her passport, required documents, and additional documents to different windows and then waited approximately 3 hours for her interview. She said that she was asked 3 questions -- how/when we met, the last time I (the petitioner) was in the US, and about the co-sponsor (specifically, where we will be living). Overall quite painless. The woman who interviewed my fiancee was "friendly and helpful but didn't say too much".

Unfortunately, she received a 221g form because we were unaware of a requirement. Apparently a certificate proving there are no impediments to marriage is required but it wasn't clearly spelled out on any of the required document information sheets... read complete review
