My step-daughter had her green card interview at the US Embassy in Bogota on June 12, 2015. Her appointment was for 8am, but they were allowed to enter at 7am and were out of the embassy by 9:30a. Since her mother and I are both in the USA and couldn't travel to take her to the interview, we had a family member taking her; the consul only asked if we were still married and the name of my employer and job title.

All-in-all a great experience!!

We were told not to arrive early for the interview but we decided to go early anyway. We're glad we went early! Our appointment was at 7:30am but we arrived at 6:30am. There was a huge line outside the embassy. Thinking we couldn't go in early we waited in the line for a good 15 or 20 minutes (not able to hear what they were saying on the loud speaker). Out of curiosity, we went to the front of the line to hear what they were saying. They were saying that non-immigrants had to wait until the time of their appointment and that immigrants/residents could go in anytime! So after hearing that, we went right in (I was able accompany my wife)!

We went through security and they directed us to the first 6 windows to a guy sitting in a chair who looked at our photos and said they wouldn't work because my wife didn't show her ears. After arguing with him for a couple of minutes he told us to see what they said at the window and gave us #14. We waited for only about 30 minutes befo... read complete review

The interview was scheduled for 8:30 am, June 3, but they began pre-processing immediately when she arrived at 7:45. She only had to wait about 30 minutes before she was brought before the consul. His questions:

When did you meet your husband?
When did your husband last come for a visit?
What language does your husband speak?
Do you speak english?

It was here that he switched to english and asked her several more questions:

Where did you learn to speak english?
Have you visited the US before? On what type of visa? How long were you in the US?
Last time you spoke with your husband?

After the questions he stated that she was approved for the visa, pending receipt of documents from doctors. He told her the instructions for applying for a green card. Told her once the medical documents were received, the visa would be processed and sent via DHL. Over all, everyone at the consulate were very ... read complete review

Embassy process is very good. The medical appointment you are required to go to and the doctors who do your appointment are the problem. There are 4 doctors one female doctor. They charge ridiculous sums of money for the appointments and you can be assured that you will need additional vaccinations at $75.00 USD each. My wife was told they thought they saw a spot on her lung and her medical paperwork did not get signed because of that. Her films of the xray where they made this determination where never shown to her and this set us pack 60 days because we had to go to another set of 3 consecutive days of medical lab tests and another $300 USD worth of medical fees. My wife had to travel 4 hours to get to Bogota from her city ...stay in a hotel for 3 days, pay for transportation back and forth to her appointments and have her mother help watch our 3 year old son during the time she had to do the tests. After she was told something was wrong on her first medical exam when she got ... read complete review

We arrived at our appointment on time.. Had the initial review of documents about 30 minutes after arriving.. We waited about 2 hours then had the 2nd interview.. It lasted all but 5 minutes..simple questions and didn't ask for any supporting documents.. Two things that seemed important to the consular officer was that I visited 4 times in a year and I was there for the interview... I would advise to over submit documents when you file the I-129f.. Prior to filing the I-129f, be very diverse in evidence, that also seemed important.

What city will you live?
Petitioner's name?
Ever been to the USA?
Are you going to be very honest with me??
Are you going to marry in a church?
Do you have children?
How many times have I visited Colombia?? When she said 4 times and he is here now. The interview finished!
That's about it

To note: we have a 27 year age difference.. The man didn't blink with that
