We spent the weekend enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of Montreal leading up to the Interview.

I have done several Consulate Report of a Birth Abroad in Calgary so I was familiar with the security process or so I thought. It was same basic rules as the Calgary one but way way more relaxed and casual. Being familiar with the process we simply left our cell phones and anything that was not allowed at the hotel. But unfortunately we forgot the car keys so we had to check them in until after the interview.

I (the petitioner) had basically done 98% of the prep with paperwork up to this point. I took the advice of many here to organize everything with sticky tabs...That is key to success!!! So my wife and I went over everything a couple times the evening before.

One of the questions she asked me about the night before on how to answer was about if she has ever been denied entry. I didn't think it would be an issue as it doesn't effec... read complete review

The consulate was quick and efficient . Our apt was at 9 am and we got there at 8:30 and we're asked to go through security with no issues . We waited 10 minutes for document check and then another 10 for interview . The interview wa was 10 minutes we were done and approved by 9:15 .
The interviewer was all business but very personable. All in all an easy process provided you are organized and have followed the rules and requirements.

My interview was at 9am on June 13 2017. I was very nervous and anxious to start with but since I've read many reviews on Vj, that made me a little prepared. Security is just like the airport. They let me in haf an hr before the appt. Game me the laminated sheet of paper and told me to go upstairs. I went straight upstairs to th 19th floor. There I had plenty of time to organize my papers. I had my docs sorted in the order 15 mins before. And I was waiting to call my name at the window. The guy called me at 857am to collect the documentation. He started by taking my finger prints. Asked for all documents in order one by one. Then asked me sit down again. (Just a quick suggestion. Please have the most current police clearance certificate) consular asked me for it and I had it so he seemed happy. Within 20 mins I was called to window 7. Very friendly guy. Asked me few questions regarding our relationship, why USA and not Canada, and then he asked if my wife is living in Canada. (She is ... read complete review

We had our interview on Monday June 19 at 8:00. We got there at 7:50 and after about a 20 min wait my wife went to the first window for the document check/finger printing. We brought way more paperwork than was on the laminated checklist, but better safe than sorry. Some of the paperwork that was emphasized during the process, like the DS-260 confirmation, wasn't even on the list.

The document check took about 15-20 minutes and then it was maybe a 40 min wait before talking to the interviewer. They asked pretty basic questions: when did you first meet, have you both visited back and forth, what will you do when you move to the US. Maybe a 10 minute chat before she was given the "welcome to the US" letter!

It did seem to take longer than I had seen from other reviews. When we left, the woman at the front door seemed surprised it had taken that long too.

Review Topic: General Review

My husband had his interview on Monday. We went in about 20 minutes before our appointment and went through security, got our number, went up to the floor and sat down. He was called for the document check after a few minutes and because we were VERY prepared, there was no trouble whatsoever. I stress: be VERY prepared and bring every piece of paperwork ever submitted. It may be overkill, but why risk it?
Anyway, after document check he sat down and we waited TWO HOURS. I recognize that this was a rare occurrence and I believe that they had a system glitch and then double booked the day as a result. He was finally called in at 12:15 (our appointment was scheduled for 10) and had no trouble answering the questions. The interviewer was pleasant and conversational. At the end he received his Welcome to the United States letter and gave me a thumbs up!
We got notice today, Wednesday, that the visa was sent out and to be delivered via courier tomorrow. So it's pretty quick. I'... read complete review
