I'll start off by saying that I had a pretty good experience at the Montreal Embassy/Consulate.

My interview was scheduled for July 19th at 9 am. My fiance came with me to Montreal and was the one who actually drove the long, grueling 8 hours to do so. He's amazing. Anyway, we booked a room at the Hotel Faubourg near china town Only a 12 min walk from the embassy). We took a walk down the street to find the embassy ahead of time to make sure we would get there on time. The price was fairly decent and the employees were very pleasant. The room also came with free breakfast which to me is exciting. I would suggest waking up at around 7 if you are going to have the breakfast because it gets pretty busy pretty fast. Overall, great hotel experience.

My fiance and I woke up at 6:30 am and headed downstairs to the lobby for breakfast. My nerves started to get the best of me and I couldn't really eat much. Too bad too because the interview was actually so much more laid back than I had anticipated.

We arrived at the embassy at 8:40 am and we were let in by a woman who took my packet 4 email (copy of it) and my passport. She stuck a white sticker on my passport and gave it back to me along with a laminated sheet #5 with a list of documents you must have in order (don't worry you will have time to do this once you are passed security). My fiance and I then went through a small room right up the stairs and it was similar to an airport security. Josh brought his phone and a few other items that they stored there and gave us a little ticket we would give them before we left to get the items back. We walked through the door down a flight of stairs where there was a series of chairs (this is where I got all my documents in order according to the laminated sheet). Once I did that we took the elevator to the 19th floor (only other button) and walked to the rows of chairs on the immigrant/non-immigrant side and waited for my number to be called. When I was called I walked to window #3 and was asked to hand over the documents listed

-proof of payment
-passport along with coloured copy of bio page
-birth certificate and copy
-police certificate
-medical sealed envelope
-2 us passport style photos
- I-134 affidavit of support and all supporting document
(pay stubs, most recent tax return, bank statement, work statement)

Once she made sure i had all the documents i was fingerprinted and told to go sit down again and wait for my number to be called for my interview. Only 10 mins went by before I was called to window #7 which is more like a small room with a glass window. There the woman started to ask me basic questions like;

-when we met
-how we met
-what we like to do together
-is this the first marriage for both of you
-any kids
-usa address
-what does he do
-how long have you been together
-was his personality how you expected it based on your interaction

Then the magic words..... You are approved!!! wait two weeks for an email confirmation that your visa is ready to be picked up. Thank goodness. The woman by the way was very laid back and smiled quite a bit. She made it very easy to relax. All in all it was so much easier than i expected. As long as you are prepared and honest it should be smooth sailing!!!
