Interview Process:
I arrived at 730 am (interview appointment at 8). There was a line outside so I waited til the security guard waved me in. There is a women to the right who took my passport and put a sticker on it and gave me a lamenanted paper with the list of documents and the order they want them in. I was number 8! After, I was waved in to go through security. You place all your stuff in the bin and walk through a metal detector, you get your stuff back minus any electronics. (no purses or backpacks or large bags either). When you get to the immigration room, you sort your documents out and wait. By the time we got upstairs it was 8am and I was called to window #3 at 825am. Took about 15 minutes. She asked name of petitioner, and to verify his address and phone number. She took all my documentation and asked for 2 extras (photocopy of petitioners birth certificate and colored copy of passport). My fingerprints were taken and she made small talk about my very obvious preg... read complete review

Full disclosure, its been a while since my actual interview date but I will try to be as specific as I can with my memory. Woke up the morning of the interview with my papers in a little file folder and my ID. I made sure to get there early incase there was a line, my husband was not requested so he waited for me in the Starbucks just up the street. There were only about 3 of us in line, I was the second. When the consulate opened they asked me for my letter to scan and my ID, I was led inside and had to put my coat and folder through a scanner while I walked through a metal detector. Once through I was lead into the waiting room, I had stayed up all night the night before reading reviews so I knew to sit nearest the elevator so I could be the first one in. I had to wait what felt like 3 hours for everyone to come into the waiting area. Finally an employee came down near the elevator and asked everyone to wait in a line. We all entered the elevator, you want to stan... read complete review

Disclaimer: I'm writing on behalf of my husband. I attended with him as petitioner.
Our interview was March 21 at 9:00am. We flew in the day prior. We stayed at the Hotel Bonaventure at 900 de la Gauchetiere West. It is 850m, about a ~15 minute leisurely walk from the consulate. It is also a 3 minute/300m walk from the René-Lévesque / Mansfield stop on the 747 shuttle that goes directly to/from the airport. It's not the cheapest option, (~$160/night) but for one night we wanted the convenience of being close to the consulate and also convenient to the airport.
We arrived at 8:20 but didn't want to be too early, so walked around and came back at 8:30. After all the reviews, I was expecting a long line but there was no lineup either time we came to the consulate. At the door, we were given a laminated sheet with number and the documents required for the initial document review. We went through security, who held our phones and my water bottle. No issu... read complete review

First off I would like to say thank you to everyone who has written a review, it for sure helped me prepare or shall I say over prepare haha.
I picked the first slot for my interview so I arrived 40 minutes before and went to the starbucks across the street to help calm my nerves haha. I would suggest standing in line 30 mins before your interview as alot of people picked the first slot and a long line was forming before I got there. Also do not bring anything extra with you, just your paperwork and cellphone (you will need to hand over your cell phone when going through security) A lady behind me came with her purse and they made her fiancee take it back to their hotel room.
People are let in one by one and you are greeted by a staff member who requests to see your passport and the paper showing your scheduled interview date. Once the person reviews it they print out a sticker and put it on the back of your passport, as well as give you a lamented number ... read complete review

I took the train from Toronto and stayed at the Hotel Bonaventure, which is across the street from Gare Central and can be accessed from the station either via Le Passage (through the underground mall) or at street level. Handy! The room was quite nice, very clean with comfy beds and the service was polite and quick. As to be expected, room service was pricey but the food was good. I was very nervous so I treated myself to an $8 Corona, however I took a pass on watching a $19 movie!!
I was the first to arrive at the consulate around 7-ish for my 7:30 am appointment, only to find that it opens at 8:00, heh. Soon, there was a healthy line up of people behind me.
They opened the doors, first making us line up at the opposite side of the doors than we started out, then allowed us in one at a time. I met the lady at the podium, who asked for my DS160 confirmation and my passport, then she gave me the laminated sheet with the instructions on how to order your ... read complete review
