It was a comfortable experience. I had my husband with me as we went waited for the interview and the way people explained things on Visa Journey was spot on - From the line next to us that moved in sequence and everyone shuffled down to the nice consulate officer that had brown hair and glasses. Thanks Visa Journey for helping make it that much more comfortable of an experience.

We found the interview process to be quick and painless (other than the 9+ hour drive each way to get to Montreal and back home). We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott which was right across the street from the Consulate. Our appointment was for 8:30 am Friday morning. We arrived at 7:55 am, showed them my wife's passport and appointment letter and were handed the laminated sheet with #6 at the top and a sticker was applied to the back of her passport.
We went through security and up the elevator to the 19th floor. My wife was called to the window to go over her documents within 15 minutes of arriving. I had prepared a 3-ring binder with clear sleeves holding each of the documents we might need and labeled each sleeve with what was inside. It took about 10 minutes for her to go over the documents and have her fingerprints taken. It was a bit longer wait to be called back to the room for the actual interview. That happened about 9:10 am. They returned all the documents ... read complete review

My interview with US Consulate, Montreal was the easiest part of the whole immigration process. My appointment was for 9 am and tried to get early as 7:20 but was told by the consulate guard to come back at 8:30.
I came back at 8:20 and was allowed to get in. And just like as what other VJ members have said, got a laminated number (#17) and then security check and asked to go to 19th floor. There I seated on the side of immigrants waiting area and compiled all the requirements according to what was asked from the laminated number.
After half an hour I was called on window #3 to submit the requirements but not all. Since I submitted the documents through NVC (scanned docs) they just asked for original police certificates, marriage certificate, birth certificate, passport, passport size photos and copy of latest W2 (2017). That’s it.... I brought tons of original and copies of other documents from myself and spouse but they didn’t ask at all....

I have been in a long distance relationship with my (then boyfriend, now husband) for the past 9 years. When I say this was a long time coming, it was a LOONG time coming. The whole process of sponsorship was honestly nerve wrecking and stressful. We weren't sure about a lot of things, but honestly, we took our time and completed the forms and followed all instructions and it went well. Though the process may be lengthy...it's well worth it. My interview was a couple of days ago, we stayed at a hotel in Dorval (roughly 25 mins away from consulate). A lot of the downtown hotels require a daily parking fee so we wanted to avoid that. We waited outside the building for about 10 to 15 mins (Arrived there for 7:15 am); YES your significant other is allowed inside with you. Once you show your passport to the lovely lady, she will give you a laminated sheet with the list of docs to put in order and the number that you'll be called. You pass security check and go a few steps down to wait to ta... read complete review
