My interview experience was similar to what most others had. All the preparation and fellow reviews on visajourney really helped, so here’s mine.

Tips that worked for me – get there early and be prepared for a lot of waiting. I arrived at 8:20 for my 9am appointment. I was out around 10:40. There were many people before me, and only one person conducting interviews, hence the long waits.

I had already arranged my documents into an expanding file folder and didn’t bother rearranging per the ordered list that they provided. Since I had organized the folder meticulously with tabbed/labeled sections and quadruple-checked everything, it was easier for me to pull things out of here.

I was overdressed in a suit-skirt. A lot of people were in jeans and t-shirts. Some women had nice dresses on and there were two men in suits. I took off my jacket partially because it was a hot, summer day in Montreal and stuffy insi... read complete review

Very polite and professional people working in this US Consulate. Made the whole process less stressful. I was extremely nervous and full of anxiety going into the interview, not to mention going on minimal sleep. Going up to the counter to verify documents, the gentleman working the window was professional, descriptive and patient. The interviewer was exactly the same. I would hope everyone has the same experience I did at this US Consulate.

Interview was easy except they are very particular about all originals and photocopies so be very careful not to miss any cooies

I arrived at the Consulate at 6:50am for my 7:30am interview. I waited outside, and chatted with a group of ladies until they opened the door at 7:30. I realized immediately that your interview time means nothing. It's all about the order you are lined up outside. They let one person at a time into the building and you're given a number. That number is the order you're called in for everything. My interview was for 7:30, but there was a girl standing in front of me and her interview was for 8:30 so she got to go in first. I was number 6.

Once inside, you give them your Passport and your proof of fee payment email printout. You're given a laminated sheet with a number on it, and instructions for which order to arrange your paperwork. You put all your belongings into a container on a conveyor belt, and you walk through a scanner (just like at the airport.) No backpacks allowed inside. They completely went through my purse and took out my keys, cell phone, work badge and I... read complete review

Very good experience over all!
Total time at Consulate: 2.5 hrs, interview: less than 5 mins!!
(Consulate enterance on narrow side street, helpful to do “dry run” see it before your interview time, so you know where it is. Go EARLY as there’s a lineup outside to get in, through front door security.)
—Nerve wracking. I was very well prepared with paperwork, what to expect & potential questions might be asked in interview (REALLY helps to do your research & remember... BREATHE.)
—High security to get into interview area, I found to be an interesting experience; only take what you ABSOLUTELY need, so much easier to flow through this slow process.
—LONG WAIT right before interview. (1st they’ll request specific order for your documents, will take your biometrics there, then you sit & wait for your name call for actual interview)
—VERY HARD TO HEAR when your name is called, not very loud/clear ... read complete review
