Happy to say our K-1 Visa was approved on 12/11/2019. Although, this process has been daunting and stressful, the interview process was seamless for my Fiance. We were very organized and had all the documents required per the Packet 3 Instructions and Checklist AND more. Documents submitted were:

-Intent to Marry Letter plus copy
-Passport plus copy of biographical page
-Birth Certificate plus copy
-Marriage Certificate plus copy (previous marriage)
-Divorce Certificate plus copy (previous marriage)
-Police Certificate plus copy (PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT CERT. UNDER THE PRIVACY ACT)
-Signed Affidavit of Support (I-134) plus copy
-Two passport-style photos

Stay organized and ensure you bring all applicable documents requested on the Checklist, as well as proof, of relationship and U.S. Sponsor's proof of domicile, in case the Officer asks for this.

I was not allowed in with my Fiance... read complete review

They have a new address at the consulate. It moved as of November 12th. The address was different than those listed on all our papers as it moved on November 12th and our booking occurred in October. As of this date google was not up to date. The literature sent said you could bring a USA citizen to the interview. They can't do in since the move. Also due to lack of space expect to wait in a line outside. Dress warmly as its Montreal. There is no point in getting there before your appointed time as they call in all the appointments for the booked time at the booked time. Once inside expect about 1 to 2 hours of processing. Most of it is waiting. They will tell you what order they want all the documents in. There are 2 phases. The first is giving the documents as asked for to the first officer. The officer we had was a bit abrupt and down to business. Remain calm and be polite. After that you wait for the second officer to review your file and call you up. If you have all your items tog... read complete review

Review Topic: General Review

Despite the amount of stress I was feeling over the interview process, it went very smoothly. Agents that I had to deal with were extremely polite and helpful.
I had (unknowingly) had my sons iPad mini in my bag. They were not pleased with this and advised me to run about 3-4 block to Eaton Centre to rent a locker to place my belongings in as their comers could not accommodate an iPad mini. Do yourself a favor and bring nothing more than your wallet, keys, and documents. They lockers they provide you with cannot hold more than keys, wallet, and iPhone. You’ll be saving yourself a lot of grief leaving everything else in your room.

Once I got the locker, everything was fairly smooth.

I am bringing 2 children with me and I would like to remind those moving with children that they will need a legal document from the other parent granting permission for the children to move abroad.

Once I made it past security I waited about 10 ... read complete review

Overall a good experience. I arrived at 7:45a for my 8a appointment. There was a very small line of three people including me. I didn't want to go too earlier considering the new consulate didn't want people to line up outside. Someone came out asking what time we had our appointments and let us in based on time of appointment. Picking an 8a was wise as it was not busy at all. I handed the person at the front podium my passport, he put a sticker on it and then handed me the laminated sheet. I took off my jacket, scarf and put them into the bin along with my folders of documents. I also handed in my cellphone and got a key to pick it up at the end.

I headed to the first floor in the elevator as directed. It looked very much like a passport office or Service Ontario kinda place. Very clean and nice. We organized our documents in the order on the list. I organized mine in the wrong order at first as there are two ways and I was frazzled and didn't read the whole sheet. I th... read complete review
