My appointment was scheduled for 8:45am. I arrived at 8:41am and was let in by the security guard. He asked me a series of Covid related questions and then asked me to wait until the person ahead of me was through security before moving through security. It was standard airport security, I didn’t use the lockers. I was directed to take the elevator to the 1st floor. Once I arrived I went immediately to window 5 to provide my passport and then told to sit and wait until my name was called.
There was 12 people in chairs when I first got there. At one point there were 18 of us and no longer any open seats (socially distancing considerations in mind). I think a lot of people had to wait well beyond their interview time to be let in by security downstairs because of that. It also seemed like most people spent considerably more time being interview. The woman who arrived just ahead of me must have been at the window for 20 minutes when it was her turn to interview. Th... read complete review

At the interview they asked for:
Intent to marry letter, police record, I-134, tax transcript 2019, beneficiary birth certificate and a copy, two passport photos, beneficiary passport, proof of visa payment.
No proof of relationship or domicile required.
She was asked if she did her medical and she said yes and that the records were emailed to the consulate. She asked if they wanted the yellow envelope (x rays and vaccination) and they said “no that’s yours to keepâ€.
Overall a very straight forward interview and less than an hour from walking in the door to leaving.

My interview was on November 9th, and it was for myself and my 18-year-old son, for a CR1 & CR2 visa:
Getting There:
I left my phone & smart watch at the hotel, and then realized as soon as I left that I had no way of telling if I was on time or too early! If you are going to do this, I suggest also taking a printed map with street names on it – Montreal is FULL of construction detours, so it is quite possible you will have to detour at some point, even if you are just walking. And also make sure you write down the actual address – I almost didn't see the building and how to double back to find it! I knew what block it was on, but the entry to the consulate was fairly nondescript, so I almost missed it. (It is right between the RBC bank and a Pharmaprix.)
Security:
You have to arrive just on time, and you go through airport-style security. We had to give our interview time, show our passports, and use hand sanitizer to be... read complete review

We arrived right on time based on other reviews/feedback not to show up early. When the interview notices came through my son's interview was actually listed as 15 minutes after mine. I explained to the security guard he is a minor so he was let in with me and I was instructed me to tell them upstairs why he was early. We went through security and I was directed to one of two windows upstairs. I stood in front so they could see me and a lady came right over. There was a ledge to put my binder of documents on and a hook for coats. The lady taking my documents was nice.
I only gave them the documents they specifically asked for as they asked for them. They took all of my originals first and then my son's. I gave them one photo each which she scanned and gave back to us. Our police certificates had expired so I got new ones which I brought to the interview. These are the only ones I gave them. Likewise, I brought a new I-864 and they only wanted that one. I did not have a 2... read complete review
