We arrived at the Consulate at 745 and there were people waiting outside. Bruce noticed that there were also people inside, so we went in and were asked to show my appointment letter and passport (which I already knew about). We went through the security checkpoint fairly quickly and we were sent downstairs to wait until 8 when the guard would bring us upstairs via elevator. We didn't wait long and the guard was ready for us. They packed us in like sardines and we were off to the 19th floor. Once there, we turned left and sat down in front of window 14 (which was still closed). Around 815, the window opened and we were in business. I was fourth in line but third to get a number because the person in front of me was picking something up. My number was C3 which is kind of weird because my last name starts with a C and 3 is my favourite number. Anyway, we were asked to sit in the "immigrant visa waiting area", which we did. We were sitting approx. 10 to 15 minutes and we were called to wi... read complete review

Wonderful place. Everyone's helpful and friendly, and as long as you've got all the necessary papers and such on hand (and leave all sort of things like cell phones and purses and the like behind) you'll probably fly through in record time.

Get there at 7 (the entrance is on Rue St-Alexandre and it's not particularly obvious until you get close to it), they'll open up around 7:20. If you're first in, first off the elevator, and first at the window where you get your number, you'll most likely be out the door before 9:30. At least, I was.

The whole thing was a nice and efficient experience, without it feeling impersonal or stressful or anything like that. Everyone I dealt with was happy and helpful -- though I bet a lot of that had to do with the fact that I came completely prepared -- and I would imagine I spent roughly 8-10 minutes actually talking to the consulate officers... and most of that was getting my number, handing over the required documents, an... read complete review

We had our interview today in Montreal. Got to the consulate around 7:15 and there were a few other people waiting, but we were the only ones organized with our passports and interview letter so when they opened the doors at 7:30, we got to go through security first, which was a breeze, and then went downstairs to wait for the elevator.

They opened the elevator up at 7:50 and we were the first ones on and then the first ones off on floor 19. Turned left and we were the first ones at Window 14, where we had to wait again. The window opened at 8:30 and we got number C-1, then it was time to wait once more.

Around 9:15 C-1 was called and we spoke very briefly with the lady before she sent us to pay the fee at the cashier's window (14). We returned to her window with the receipt and she then asked us for our documents. We had a lot of them to give, since NVC had lost our case file and they wanted to rebuild the case as much as possible (they warned us in advan... read complete review

So, I have finally reached the end of the K1 paperwork and stress  I had my interview in Vancouver this past wednesday and it was eventful to say the least. My fiance came with me and good thing he did! I was a wreck the morning of the interview but once I stepped into the consulate, I was back to calm (for the most part) . My fiance was all worried that all the people lined up outside waiting to get their turn through security were going to beat us up when we just trotted right up to the front without waiting in line . But because VJ kept me one up in the game I knew we were good to go with cutting in and heading right to the front with my interview letter!

We were going through the second security station and I was joking to the fellow inspecting our folder of contents that we are probably over prepared for our interview with all our evidence. The 2 guys started laughing at me and one of them lifted up my folder and said it was only 4 lbs ... read complete review
