So, we had our interview at the montreal embassy. My fiance went alone, for I could not be there with him. So, here's his story.
Rick arrived at embassy at 7am. He was first in line. He parked at medisys and it was only a 7 minute walk to embassy. He stood on the left side of the door and the security guard opened doors promptly at 7:30am.
After walking in the door, a woman meets you and checks you off both of her checklists. She asks for appointment confirmation printout and passport. She put a sticker on the back of the passport. He then went threw security where he had to empty his pockets, take off coat and put everything into a bucket and go through metal detector.
He walked threw metal detector and it went off. He had on steel toe'd winter boots. So he was wanded and then sent through.
They kept his car keys and cell phone for him to pick up after interview.
Rick waited right beside the elevator, and then the guard came promptly at 8am a... read complete review

Overall, an excellent experience. We arrived before 9 for a 10 o'clock appointment. The line up was not too long and was being well managed by the very courteous staff. I will just add here what others didn't observe in their reports as my experience was very similar in most respects.
First, whoever got into the building with their electronics and had the security staff keep them experienced a very lucky day! We elected to arrive without our devices. Nonetheless, we were instructed to remove EVERYTHING from our pockets. Only a Canadian in the winter can really appreciate what this means. We saw one family group come outside twice to sort through their tray of stuff and re-enter. It was a real WTF? moment till we got to the head of the line. After your pockets are emptied, they go over your outer garments... coats and sweaters very thoroughly. They found a book of matches in one of my sweater pockets which I told them they could have, but I was directed to a trash can in ... read complete review

Super easy. The hardest part was waiting. The officers were nice. We waited outside until being let inside to go through a little security section. Led up the stairs and into the elevator, up to the 20th floor. Went to Window B, turned on the light and a nice lady came and took my forms and documents and such. Sat down for maybe 5 minutes, was called up again to Window 6 and the guy there was also really friendly. Asked us a few questions, about my plans once I'm in the States, our wedding plans, how we met and all that. And then we talked about games because Daniel and I met online, Final Fantasy XI, haha. And that was about it. We went back to Window B, the lady before told us we were approved and what do to and that was about it! We worried needlessly. They didn't need to see any of our evidence or even our photographs, nothing. Done. Overall a pleasant, reassuring even if a bit of a anti-climactic experience!

My overall experience at the Montreal Consulate was great!
My appointment was 11:AM I but I decided to show up at 7:45 AM at the Consulate building. Door opened at 8:00, passed through security with all my electronic devices, Ipad, Iphone, headsets, usb sticks, car keys, etc.. left for safekeeping with the security office and later claimed on my exit.
8:30 AM - I was no.2 in line for the interview even my appointment is 3 hours away, my number was called to a window for finger printing processing. The lady at the window was nice and accommodating. I was asked to take a seat and wait for my number to be called again. I then realized, it was a first come first serve basis. I was glad to arrive at the consulate 3 hours early.
9:00 AM- My number was called for actual interview. I was impressed on how professional the interview was conducted. Questions asked were based purely on the information provided on the application form. The consul was p... read complete review
