I had my interview on September 11th and it was so simple! I was nervous for no reason at all
I arrived at 6:30am and I was the first one there. I stupidly forgot to bring a sweater and it was chilly out so I decided to go to the Tim Horton's around the corner to get a coffee. By the time I came back, around 6:45, there was a man and a couple in line. We waited until 7:30 on the nose, the guard came out and opened the door. DO NO BRING ANY BAGS! The first man in line had a small laptop sized briefcase and they said it was too big and refused to let him in. If you want to breeze in and out make sure you carry as little as possible. I had my paperwork in a plastic folder, a wristlet and a book to help pass the time. The guard let the couple and myself inside the doors where were were asked by a woman sitting on the left hand side to show our PASSPORT, INTERVIEW LETTER, and LOOMIS CONFIRMATION PAGE. She wrote my DHL reference number on a sticker and put ... read complete review

My wife had her interview on September 11 and I accompanied her, as we are both living in Toronto.
Stayed at Hotel Zero 1 which was about a 7 minute walk to the Consulate and we were second in line behind one man when we arrived at 6:45. Just after 7:30, they opened the door (were about a dozen people behind us at this point), a guard came out, and informed the man in front of us his bag was too large. He then waved my wife and I inside, so we were first in the building! Right inside the door was a lady who asked to see my wife's appointment letter, passport, and Loomis confirmation. She also asked to see my passport and, as a US citizen, I had no problems being let inside. Then we went through a metal detector. Much better than the airport; shoes stay ON!! Were then told to go down some steps and wait by the elevator. At 8:00, guard from the metal detector came and took down a barrier that was in front of the elevator, let people on, and told us to push the bu... read complete review

All in all, experience was very good. Get there early and you will get out in time for a celebratory breakfast! I was inside the consulate for about an hour.
My appointment was set for 10 am but I arrived really early (6:30am) due to the recommendation of fellow VJers. I got there way too early and was the only one there for an hour. Then a couple showed up at 7:30am and we waited until they opened the doors. Others have stated there was a line up when they got there early, so it will depend on many factors. Get there early to be safe, so you don't spend the entire day waiting. It's first-come, first-served - you get a ticket and wait. So get there early if you want to get out early.
VJ advice states to have your appointment letter ready - TRUE. It's the first thing they ask for. Have your passport ready too.
It's true - no cameras or large bags including back packs. A man had a carry on piece of luggage and was immediately accosted by a ... read complete review

Wow- approved! I just came from the interview and I thought I'd update it immediately before I get wrapped up in moving.
So... arrived at the consulate at 6:45am and there were 3 groups ahead of me. Met another VisaJourney young woman that arrived just after I did. Waited until 7:30am and then they let us in. Make sure you have your print out with your Loomis Reference ID number on it. This was the first thing they asked for. I also had my Interview letter out as well as my passport which the lady looked at. Several people in the line were told to leave with their bags and extra belongings. If you can manage it, I would recommend only having your document folder and put your ID/credit card or whatever necessities in your pocket. Don't bring a purse/cellphone/keys etc but if you have to then they can keep your cellphone/keys downstairs in security but it is just another snag. Then we went downstairs and eventually in the elevator up to the 19th floor. Myself and two othe... read complete review

Medical Exam:
I booked my medical for 8:45 AM on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012. I arrived around 8:30 after finding the correct medical clinic among the dozens located in the two adjacent parking lots on the corner; it has Dr. Cheema’s name on the outside and is in the first parking lot on the corner. I gave them my paperwork after waiting in the lobby for a while and then had to wait a while longer until the doctor called me in. It was probably between 9:15 and 9:30 when I was called in.
The exam was quick and super easy. He checked my weight and height, had me read a quick line from an eye chart, glanced in my mouth and ears, checked my pulse and blood pressure, listened to my heart and lungs, asked me a series of questions to which all my answers were “no”. Finally he had me put on a paper gown and had one of the receptionists come in with him since I’m female, and checked the lymph nodes, checked my skin and made sure I’m female.
