Well I arrived in Montreal from Seattle, WA on December 5th. A little about my situation.. I am Canadian and for the past 2 years I have been legally residing in the US working on a Private Motor Yacht. I enter in and out of the US with a letter from my captain etc.. So all of my belongings etc are in the US!
So I arrive and take the shuttle bus 747 (which is 9.00) from the airport in Montreal. I had pre-booked the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth (BEAUTIFUL HOTEL) which is right downtown and the shuttle drops you off right infront of it. It is also just a 5-10min walk to the embassy.
I woke up on December 6th at 0600 and was at the Embassy by 0650. As I approached I seen a couple waiting outside and they were VJer's as well. It made the whole experience so nice to be able to be-friend someone and have the distraction of conversation while waiting. As we waited lots of other people arrived. There was soon a line of about 10-15 people behind me. I was so glad I arr... read complete review

Got to the consulate around 6:45am and there were two people in line. by around 7:20am there was quite a line up and by the way people were talking I figured I was the only VJ-er. There was the couple of people in front of me thinking everyone got the same interview time and they figured they would come early just in case... A LOT of people in that line had brought back packs & purses and were asked to get rid of them by security when doors opened at 7:30am. DO NOT BRING ANY BACK PACKS OR PURSES. All I brought was my folder in a plastic bag and that's accepted. Once I got through the front door there was a lady there asking for your appointment letter, DHL registry and Passport(s). She took mine and my daughters passports put a sticker on and wrote the registry number on the back. Once that was done we went through security which is similar to airport security in the U.S. you take off your coats and hats but could leave your shoes on, and had to put my plastic bag with my folder which ... read complete review

I can't really add much to other people's reviews because everyone else pretty much covered everything....The only thing I would say is that Montreal does not deal with the hard copy of ds-230, if you have filled in the ds-260 electronically, which you are normally suppose to have done, then there's no need for the ds-230. This was an issue when I POE'd. The border agent had never seen the IV electronic print-out and was used to the hard copy...

The other reviews here got us plenty prepared for what to expect on the day we had our K1 Visa interview. Some of the points I'm bringing up are just reiterations of what other people have said before, but trust me, it is worth mentioning again.
We stayed at the Phillips Hotel and Suites, which is within very close walking distance of both the US Consulate (also called US Embassy, they're one and the same so don't freak out, there's only one building and it's easy to find) and Medisys. Medisys is one of the locations that someone can get their required Medical done, and they offer either to ship the results to you for a $50 fee or you can pick them up yourself for free. They open at 7AM on weekdays normally, so we decided to save a bit of money and pick up the documents before heading over to the consulate. Leaving the hotel at 6:30AM, brisk walk to Medisys takes about 15 minutes, then with papers acquired, turned right back around for another 15 minute walk to the C... read complete review

Our experience at the Montreal consulate was pretty good. We definitely did our research before heading out, and I found this thread to be particularly helpful: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/359761-montreal-consulate-picturesmaps/
We (my fiance, the USC, and I) stayed at the Hotel Le Dauphin, which was about a 5 minute walk away. The night before the interview, we did the walk to the consulate to ensure we knew exactly where it was and how to get there.
On the morning of the interview, we left our hotel right around 6:30, and there was no one at the consulate. We decided to walk to the Tim Hortons, so we got coffee and walked back, and were still first in line. My fiance was saying to me that we would probably be the only ridiculous ones in line that early for an 8am appointment, but just as he was saying that, a lovely young lady walked up carryin... read complete review
