Thanks to the many VJ reviews I got downtown at about 630 from the airport. Went to Tim Horton\'s just 2 blocks West of the Consulate. Left Tim\'s at about 7am and got there a few minutes later to find only one couple ahead of me who had been there since 430 because he\'d been there before where the line had been down the street and around the corner. Security guards start buzzing around inside around 715 and I didn\'t have my cell phone or a watch but I am guessing the doors opened just after 730. The people in front of me didn\'t have their courier number so they were turned away leaving me now first in line. Security no problem because all I had were my documents and some magazines. Left my cell phone at the airport with their cloak room as I didn\'t not have a hotel room because I was flying out the same day. Went down the stairs and sat to the right of the elevator. When it opened there wasn\'t a mad rush, the security guard just told us to go in and hit 19. I went to the back, but I was on the right and I should been on the left. But that didn\'t matter because when we got to the top people walked out straight and I went to the left around the corner to get the number. The window actually didn\'t open before they started calling out numbers! Finally a lady came and I got C1. Which had already been called so I walked over to window #1 and we went through all my info to make sure it was current.
Then I went and sat down and waited, this was about 815. I was yet again the first person called, but unlike other entries here I had read, it was almost 30 minutes. It was about 845 when I was called to the little interview booth. I read the oath to the lady with the dreadlocks who was very pleasant. She asked how we met and I told her and she asked when we met in person and that was it...
Then she told me the bad news. Because I was given a 5 year ban in 2011, I would need to submit to her the I-212 reentry waiver before they could approve the visa (something I felt they could have told me ahead of time but I guess they don\'t know til the day of the interview. So that was it. She gave me the letter stating the form I needed and another form explaining how to correspond with the Montreal Consulate. And here I am still waiting. She said I don\'t have to come back and that almost all of these reentry waivers are approved. Its just more time and more money. Again there is no real reason for people to be nervous just tell the truth. I am rating a 4 because it was a good experience overall my results should have no baring on what others will face as part of the interview experience and this is to help others.
