The Hotel
I arrived in Montreal Sunday night and checked into the hotel. I chose the Days Inn Downtown on Boul. Rene-Levesque. I chose it because it was decently priced and the reviews that I read were better than the Travelodge, although it was about a block further.
I took a "practice walk" that night to make sure I could find it in the morning to avoid any delays. SUPER EASY. Take a right out of the hotel and walk straight down Boul. Rene-Levesque until you get to St-Alexandre. The consulate is on that corner. It was about a 10 minute walk
The Morning Of
Woke up at 6am, was ready by 7am. I left everything in the Hotel room (including purse, cell phone, etc.) with the exception of my paperwork. I put it all in a plastic bag to protect it since it was a rainy morning. I left the hotel at about 7:15am and arrived at the consulate at 7:30am for my 8:00am appointment. There was already a line of about 10 peo... read complete review

Had a good experience, although I had a pretty strong case and wasn't expecting trouble. Was seen in an hour or so, dealt with quickly, no unusual questions, approved on the spot.
Only thing I knocked a point off for was because I wasn't allowed to take my small bag in, so I had to run over the road to the Subway opposite and pay them $10 or 20 (I forget) to look after it. Seems like searching the bag would have been easier all round. Minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, obviously.

My interview was on August 9, 2013 (a Friday) at 10:00am. I showed up early, but was told to return 15 mins prior to my interview time.
I had to provide my passport, letter, and sealed medical packet (I just had to show the security guards). I went through the 1st security check and was sent inside to the second security check (the first is just basic security questions and the second is putting your belongings in a bin- similar to the airport, and going through the scan).
Then you are taken to the elevator to go to the 20th floor (if you need to go to the washroom, I suggest doing so prior to arriving at the consulate or prior to going to the 20th floor as there are no washrooms on the 20th floor). After getting off the elevator turn left and proceed to window B. The person will make sure you have all items in the correct order and give you your number.
Then the wait begins... I didn't actually wait that long, about 30 mins. My number wa... read complete review

Hello Everybody!!
My fiancé and I had the interview today in Montreal and *drum roll* APPROVED!!! I couldn't hold in my excitement, and clapped, haha! Anywho, I wanted to write up the review while it was fresh, so here we go!!
We arrived in Montreal on Sunday evening, and checked into the Travelodge on Boul. Rene Levesque. The room was $110 for one night, plus $20.00 for parking. (Heads up, if the parking garage is full you have to park down the street under the Desjardins building). It's a short walk from the parking garage back to the hotel and there is an IGA grocery store on the way! I didn't sleep much, I think I woke up every hour paranoid that my alarm wouldn't go off. We left our hotel in the morning at 6:45, we had to swing by the garage to pick up my fiancé's passport (he forgot it, GRR). We arrived at the consulate at 7:05am and we were the first in line, woohoo!! We were both starved for coffee and would you believe there is a Cultures in t... read complete review

Got to the consulate around 6:30am. People were already lined up, but I wasn't paying attention and went in front of them. Oops! Mean Lady set me straight! lol.
When it was time to open, the guard let us in about 2 people at a time. I brought my keys to my car and my papers only. There is a big sign showing prohibited items, and these were on the sign. They just take your prohibited items and check them for you. Doesn't cost anything and the guards are very polite.
Essentially after the metal detectors and Xray machines, they get you to walk down some stairs into what I can only describe is a basement. Acoustic ceiling. Kind of old looking. There was a photo booth, so if you forget your photos (not likely) you can stop and get them done right there.
We all waited until a guard came into the room and opened the elevator for us. We all lined up and packed into the elevator as much as possible.
When we reached the 18th or 19th fl... read complete review
