I stayed in Surrey so I could get the medical and pick up results without a lot of extra driving. Dr. Cheema was great, friendly and quite chatty. That was the easiest part of the whole trip.
I left the Hotel in Surrey at 8:30, figuring an hour and a half should be more than enough time to get to the Consulate for 10. Big mistake. There was an accident on the Fraser bridge which took an hour to get past. I got to the consulate over an hour late, had to find parking and get through security. They waved me right through, I went through the checks then up to the 20th floor. Went to window B, she took all my papers and medical and gave me a number and told me to wait for it to come up a second time. That took about 30 minutes. I went to the window when my number was called, He took my papers and told me to sit while he went through my file. A few times, he held up a page that was stamped approved, so I think at that point it was already approved. HE calle... read complete review

We stayed at The Hotel Omni. VERY nice hotel and for a bit more money than others but worth it if you are OK with spending a little extra. Only about a 10 min walk to the Consulate. We arrived at the Consulate around 7:15am. There were already a couple of people lined up so we were 3rd in line. We waited for about a half hour (after I went to the Tim Hortons just up the street to get some coffee. Go to the end of the street, turn right and go up a block and its right there on the corner). We were let in one at a time into the door. There is a woman to the immediate left that asks for your appointment letter and loomis confirmation and passport. The guard asked me if I was the petitioner and I told him I was and he asked me for ID. I brought my US passport just in case so I just recommend doing that. You then go through the security checkpoint much like the airport. Go through another door to the left once cleared and down a set of stairs. Got to the back left corner of the elevator aft... read complete review

First of all I wanted to talk about Dr. Cheema's office. If you are taking transit, you can take the Skytrain to 22nd St Station and then take the 340 bus. The bus will drop you off at 72 Ave and Scott Rd (also known as 120 st). Then it's just a short walk back towards 71 ave. His office is on the corner.
I got there for my appointment and the lady behind the desk asked for my interview letter. For those who are confused about which letter. It is Packet 4. I gave her packet 4 and my passport and the 1 photo of myself. She filled out some forms and asked me to double check my info.
Then she took me back to see Dr. Cheema. First she weighed me and measured my height. Then sat me in the waiting room. Dr. Cheema came in. He checked my blood pressure, pulse, listened to my lungs. He got me to read a couple letters off of an eye chart. He also asked me a bunch of questions. Basically asking if I was healthy, has ever has any sexual transmitted diseases, history of drinking a... read complete review

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Select at 99 Viger Ave and St. Urbain. Paid roughly $125.00/night (it was Labour Day weekend, so the prices might have been a bit higher) The room was quite big, was very clean and very quiet and the king size bed was super comfy! I highly recommend this place. The staff were all super friendly and helpful when I was asking for directions or had questions. The best part was it was less than a 10 min walk to the consulate and about a 10 min walk to Old Montreal! There was also a Tim Horton's across the street near the Metro station. Perfect location!
I walked to the Consulate at 6:30am with my accordion file folder and my original I129F packet in a plastic bag, no one was there yet, so I walked down the block to the Tim Horton's on the corner, got a coffee and came back.
Arrived there at 6:40am and was the first one there!
Within 10mins, two other people arrived (both were VJ'ers) by 7:00am there was about 8 o... read complete review
