Review Topic: General Review

My interview was scheduled for 7:40am today (May 13th). I arrived at the Montreal Consulate at 7:15, there were 3 people ahead of me. Once the doors opened, passed through security, which was similar to airport security, easy enough. Was then told to go downstairs and have a seat, wait until someone comes to let us in the elevator. The room downstairs filled up quite quickly. And I have to say a big thank you to all the peeps who left review here; when the elevator door opened, i made my way to the BACK of the elevator (as suggested by fellow VJers from Montreal Consulate). I was given #3. Woohoo! Saw the first lady at about 8:15, handed over most of my documents (thank goodness I had everything in order). First was passport, medical results, appointment letter. Then birth certificate, police record check and affidavit of support(with supporting documents), lastly she took my fingerprints. Was told to go sit down again. Called back again at about 9:15. The interview itself... read complete review

Since it seems that reviews of the Vancouver consolate are few and far between, I figured I'd add a verbose description of our experience.

First, the timing here... our interview was at 10am. I had read that you can line up about a half hour before, so our goal was to be in line by 9:30. As our hotel was about a half hour drive away under good conditions, we had a goal of leaving the hotel by 8am, to give us plenty of time to make it there, find a parking spot, and hopefully have some time to kill. We actually ended up getting out a bit after 8, and arrived in time to park, find a restroom, and get in line perfectly at the right time.

A couple of notes: We visited the area a couple of days earlier. This is recommended as the door into the consolate is kinda in a weird spot, and parking downtown can be challenging. This helped us greatly as we had a game plan and was familiar with the area before showing up.

The other note to be aware... read complete review

I arrived 20 minutes early and there was a fairly long line when I got there. But they were telling people to leave and come back later if their app't was more than half an hour away.

A lot of the process involves moving from one line to another line. That's kind of good because it breaks up the tedium of waiting. First they check if you have your DS-160, passport, and medical packet. They give you a card with the floor and window you'll have to go to. K Visas have a different process than the work and travel visas that most people there are getting. So you're not always going to have the same people in front of you.

Then you get in another line for the building entrance, security looks you over to make sure you don't have anything that won't be allowed inside. Then you go through the metal detector check, and then another line for the elevator.

Before I continue, there are two pieces of advice;
Dress for the weather. You'll likely be... read complete review

I had the same experience as most of the other vj users. Just follow guides and instructions and you should be good.
1: Went early and was 3rd in line. Airport security no bags allowed to so don't take a chance.
2: Downstairs room wait for elevator, 19th floor, tickets based on the immigrant/non immigrant visas. I got 2nd Ticket for Immigrant Visa.
3: Sit in Immigrant visa seating or any where wait for your number to called to get documents and finger printing done. No issues there as everything was up to date. A good idea will be take recent pictures like a day or two earlier. I was asked for recent pictures. I sent sent my pictures in January of this year with rest of the civil documents. I said they are the recent one that I have and she accepted them.
4: Then wait for interview. Routine stuff oath and finger printing again. Where you met and how you manage your relationship between US and Canada.
5: Long story short was conditionally approved v... read complete review
