I don't have much to add to all the great information that is already in all of these reviews. As long as you follow the tips and pointers everyone else has given (sit near the elevator, etc) things should go smoothly. I was first in line and out of there by 9:15.

Questions I was asked:
Where did you meet your fiance?
How long have you been together?
Have you ever had any trouble with law?
Have you ever had any trouble crossing the border?
When did you decide to get married?
I see (from your file) you've taken many trips together, which was your favourite?
What does your fiance do for work?

I'm generally a quiet, one-word-answer kinda person, but I made sure to answer in a chatty way, giving as much information as possible. The interviewer then said "I'm approving your visa" and immediately my eyes welled up with tears of joy. I quickly grabbed the paper she gave me and ducked into the bathroom across ... read complete review

Had my F2B visa interview yesterday, things went well and the people there were very friendly. Get the 747 bus from the airport to downtown, it only costs $18 for a return ticket. Don't be afraid of everything being in French, the people in Montreal are very open to tourists and will be very friendly if you even try to say a couple of words au francais.

Stayed at this hotel:

Abri du Voyageur Hôtel Inc
9 Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest
Montréal, QC H2X 1Z5

It was definitely not luxury, but for $80 a night including all taxes it was a steal of a deal and located about a ten minute walk from the embassy. Three minute walk from the 747 bus stop, just get off at St. Laurent and Rene Levesque. Bring ear plugs for sleeping, the neighbourhood is noisy.

My interview was scheduled for nine am, but as many others on here have noted, it is first come first served. I went in at about 8:30am and walked out about three hours l... read complete review

Interview went well - except they would NOT let us in early as we thought, instead we had to come back no earlier than 1 hour before our scheduled time. They give you a number which they did not follow in sequence (not sure why). Was called to the first window which was clerical and just checked all info, documents, and made sure they had everything they needed. Then called to the actual interview which was just a few questions about my (us citizen) job, and about our wedding. She then told us we were approved and let us know what would happen next. total time was about 2 hours - actual time talking to people was about 1/2 hour.

My interview was at the end of September 2014. I went to Montreal alone as my wife (US Cit) lives in California. The interview was for 10 and I showed up at 930. I was out of there by 11:30.

Megabus does some excellent service from Toronto / Kingston to Montreal. And it drops you off at the bus station which is 10 min walk from the consulate. I took the bus from Kingston in the morning and took it back in the afternoon.

People make the interview into a really big deal. It really isn't. I understand it can be a bit anxiety inducing but if you follow all their instructions, there's no way they should deny you for an IR-1 visa. You've already been pre-checked multiple times and the interview is just a formality.

Here are a few things I recommend:

1. Bring ORIGINAL copies of all the documents they ask for. Chances are they probably won't need a lot of the stuff you bring...but if you submitted any scans of documents, bri... read complete review
