My wife had her interview at the Montreal embassy yesterday. The total time at the embassy was just over two hours. Here's the timeline:
We arrived at 8 AM for her 9:30 interview. There were only two couples in line outside when we got there. Since we had read the forums, we knew to leave all of the electronics, cell phones, and backpacks/handbags at the hotel. Be aware, I saw two people sent away for carrying a computer bag. After we showed the interview letter and our passports, we were brought inside to a vestibule where a greeter with a tablet checked us in and handed us our number (#11). We lined up along the right wall while we waited to go through the x-ray scanner. While we waited, a number of American citizens who showed up for other embassy services were admitted as soon as they showed up, but they wind up waiting in a different queue upstairs so that can add to your wait time to get through the security check.
By 8:20, we went up to the 19th flo... read complete review

It was an overall positive experience and was exactly as advertised.
My appointment was for 8am. I stayed at the Courtyard across the street and showed up at around 7:15am to the side doors. To my surprise there was only one other person there at this point. I had read other stories where 15 to 30 people have been there at that time. Anyway, when they opened the door for us at 7:30 there were still only 6 to 8 people there - really surprising. I realized later that all the non-VJ people were trying to get in the front door to no avail.
Since we were the first immigrant visa applicants through the door (there was no issue for spouses being there) we received the coveted number 1 ticket. They ask for your passport and interview letter at that time. Security was a breeze because we brought nothing except for our documents and passports. The guards commented on how easy it was for us as a result. There were people with bags turned away.

Today we got approved. I went there with my fiance. The interview went much smoother and quicker than we ever thought it would be. the interviewer was very relaxed and nice to me. It felt like having a conversation than and interview which helped me calm down and answer comfortably. Over all time we took was about 2 hours and a half since we got there.

Had my interview this morning at 740. stayed at the Days in Montreal Downtown, was very close, I took a cab there, but ended up walking back, about 10 min.
My interview went very moothly, at first. I had the young guy everyone talks about, I was the first one for him that day so he was nice and friendly. His first question was how to pronounce my last name, as it looks quite complicated. I told him and said i cant wait to change it to my fiances very short last name, no hiphonating for me! He laughed and swore me in, then asked the standard had i ever been in trouble at the boarder with the police or my parents (this seems to be a common joke for him as ive read it here a few times !), if it was our first marriages.his address.. honestly thats al i remember him asking! He didnt actually ask me anything about my fiance except where he lived which i thought was strange. I made a comment about how thick my folder was and that i must have over done it a little and he made... read complete review

Just had my interview yesterday and it was pretty much a breeze!
My appointment was scheduled for 10am, and I headed over just around 9:30am. I know people are saying that appointment time doesn't matter, it's first come first served, but I didn't want to wait outside at the crack of dawn while it was snowing heavily. In any case, I think I was past the initial rush of early morning interviews because everything went pretty quickly for me, I was in and out in about 45 minutes.
There was a nice guy at the door who scanned my appointment letter, gave me my number for the day, and directed me to the very short security line. I only had my coat, wallet, and my file of documents with me, so I had no problem. They were checking cell phones, but they were sending people with backpacks away, telling them they had to be back without it by 11am latest.
I went up to the 19th floor and sat in the middle section of seats like I was instructed. There are ... read complete review
