I had my CR1 interview on 21 Nov @ MTL. Interview went well but atlast CO requested a document which was not in my list. I told him that I don't have it at the moment. He said, sooner you get that to us sooner we can process your visa. He gave a letter on my interview day how to send embassy the requested document along with my passport. My wife sent that document to me through fedex over night shipping from US. I submitted that document and passport as requested by CO on 22nd Nov and embassy got my documents on 23rd Nov. I'm kept under AP still. My question is how much time till they issue my Visa...??? Any info???

I had a very straight forward experience going to the consultate in Montreal for my interview as the final step in my CR1 marriage based visa process.
I showed up at the consulate with all the materials I needed prepared. Despite myself, I was a bit nervous and giddy to finally get to the last step of the process. When you arrive you go through a metal detector and then go upstairs where you wait your turn. I had an appointment, but I think the appointment times are just rough time blocks and I waited about an hour.
As others have described, you first get called up and someone takes your original documents. Then you sit so that they can process them. Then you get called up for your "interview." For me, this essentially consisted of a friendly woman asking how my husband and I met, where we got married, and some other basic questions. It was quick and easy. I was approved, and that was about it.
The only negative part of the experien... read complete review

Interview Date: November 10th 2015.
Before I got out of bed I was super nervous, I got myself ready, got my hair fixed up and put on my make up and just caught my bus and went on the sky train which I had to take all the way to Burrad from Lougheed station. First thing I did when I got close to there is I put my big bag and cell phone at my sisters office as I heard when you go the consultant building they wont let you bring in a big bag and no cell phones allowed *but I learned once I got there they will keep your cell in a safe* but as for big bags DO NOT BRING!! If you did bring alot of stuff there are places like Quiznos which is across from the building that will hold your bag for sadly a fee *happy I didn't have to do that*.
Now the first thing that will happen is there is a security guard in front of the building that will ask for your DS160 and Passport then the second security guard will give you a card that will say B once I show my passport and D... read complete review

Very simple process. I am the US Citizen, my fiancé was living in Montreal, which made it easy to get there. Got there around 7:30AM, were processed in around 8:15, waited until about 10:30 for the interview. Was glad I was present! They wanted original signatures on a couple of documents, so I just re-signed them then and there with blue ink.
Our interview was on Oct 5, we were in and out in under 4 hours, which seemed good to us.
Received the VISA Oct 12, and were ready to go!
One caveat I will say is that prior to the interview, everything was quite confusing, as the consulate website is different than what is at CBP's website, etc, and although USCIS and NVC are quite helpful, the consulate communications were painful at best. You have to email them (they do not accept phone calls, period), and then you get an automated email back, and you have to reply to it with the subject "Follow Up" in the subject line and THEN you will get a re... read complete review
