My interview was on February 16, 2016 and my appointment was set for 7:20 am. We got there early at about 6:15 am. It didn't take long for a line to form as we were second to arrive. We got there so early we couldn't get cafe do amaña :/ from the hotel but we got a small coffee close to the consulate right across the street for those that need coffee in the morning We waited for about an hour and then the Famous Alex came to take names and call all of us inside to get ready for the interview. Alex was great. Ive read about him in many reviews, he didnt disappoint. He walked inside and it was straightforward just have documents ready. Alex was really cool, he explained everything in Portuguese but he explained to those that didn't speak Portuguese in English. There was a guy that practically walked in without anything, most had a bulk of documents as we did. But as it turned out the staff if pretty helpful and nice. In the interview room its a more like a waiting a... read complete review

As many of the CR1/IR1 reviews on here, our experience was very similar and positive.

My husband has his physical with Dr, Juliana Cancado in Belo Horizonte. She was excellent, and asked a lot of personal questions that you would normally expect during the consular interview. She typed all of my husband's answers onto the State Department database. Apparently, they do a lot of the interviewing on their behalf to save the consular officers' time.

Our appointment was for 09:20 on 23 February. We arrived very early, at about 08:00, but we were allowed in with all of the people waiting outside. Alex confirmed everyone's identity outside from his waiting list before we went inside. We all sat down inside the room wher Alex proceeded to explain the procedures, but only in Portuguese. So for the U.S. - American spouses who don't speak Portuguese, you might be a little lost. Thank goodness I speak Italian, so I got the gist.

All of the benef... read complete review

Nome, endereço, telefone, email, checagem de documentos, at... read complete review

My interview was today and everything was pretty smooth and as fine as people say here.

I am from Rio and I decided to leave early because my interview was scheduled at 7:20 am and to avoid hitting any possible traffic on my way to the consulate. I arrived at 6:30 am and waited next to the consulate for about 50 minutes, while people started gathering on the line waiting for instructions. A guy in a red Polo (who I believe was Alex) came, checked our names and interview schedule and guided us to the second floor of the consulate.

There he gave us two pieces of paper: one with a list and order of documents to be organized and the other with some basic information to be filled. He instructed us, answered our questions about this part and explained that after filling and organizing everything he would call us one by one to check the documents. He was very nice during the process, asking if I was nervous and trying to calm people down.

Done wit... read complete review
