Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | Review on February 25, 2016: | tnylnc

My interview was on February 16, 2016 and my appointment was set for 7:20 am. We got there early at about 6:15 am. It didn't take long for a line to form as we were second to arrive. We got there so early we couldn't get cafe do amaña :/ from the hotel but we got a small coffee close to the consulate right across the street for those that need coffee in the morning We waited for about an hour and then the Famous Alex came to take names and call all of us inside to get ready for the interview. Alex was great. Ive read about him in many reviews, he didnt disappoint. He walked inside and it was straightforward just have documents ready. Alex was really cool, he explained everything in Portuguese but he explained to those that didn't speak Portuguese in English. There was a guy that practically walked in without anything, most had a bulk of documents as we did. But as it turned out the staff if pretty helpful and nice. In the interview room its a more like a waiting area with seats in the middle. The back row is for those who just arrived and need to check documents and Alex helped to get those organized. Then you get called to get like a first round interview where they check the documents you were asked to bring in the email that was sent for the interview. We got called by a lady who asked simple questions related to the documents. Once they check the documents you have to wait for the actual interview. We hit a small bump on the documents, the photo that we brought was too small but the lady was really nice and told us it was fine just go across the street and get a visa picture taken for like 18r . Once we came back Alex turned in the photo and we were directed to the front rows to wait for the interview. We were a bit nervous but the ones who were alone were dying. Most though, were couples but for the ones who came alone some were really nervous while others were calm as could be. One small thing about the interview I didnt like but didnt really bother me, was that the interviews are done in booths amd you speak with the interviewer through a glass. For their safety I guess. We were finally called. It was a nice gentleman, he was looking at our documents and then came the questions. He asked basic questions like how did you meet, or my favorite does your fiancé speak Portuguese. I speak basic Portuguese, like as sophisticated as a toddler. So I didn't notice that he was an american interviewing us but then again I'm horrible at picking up accents. Just like I didn't notice the different accents of Cariocas and Paulistas lol After just 5 minutes mostly of the interviewer typing notes he said You have been approved, Parabens! He then told us something but we were so excited that we stopped listening after Parabens! Hope your experience goes as well as ours !!
