The interview itself was very quick and straightforward--the easiest part of the process. We arrived early and the interview was over before our scheduled time. They give you a short form to fill out and a list with the order of documents when you arrive, and we wished we had had that ahead of time--that list needs to be available online in an easy place to find. But everything was fine in the end and our K-1 visa was approved! The interview happens at a window, standing up. The consular officer, a woman in her thirties, asked two questions of my fiancee: how did you meet your fiancee, and have you ever been married (and asked also if the petitioner had been married). She said "I'm going to cancel your tourist visa now", and took out a big stamp and cancelled it. We knew at that point that the visa was approved. She then said "your visa is approved and will arrive in (I can't remember how many) business days".

Great!
My fiance and his daugther went. Everything was good, interviewer very kind.
They told him approved but requested a better copy of the original birth certificate of my step-daughter.
Since we live in Bahia it took about 2 weeks to get that back to the consulate and another 10 days for them to process and issue the visa so PLEASE make sure your documents are ORIGINAL and new, avoid bringing old copies of original documents.
In all the interview was June 28 and due to this setback the visa was issued on July 19, still awaiting the arrival of the passport in the mail.

I USC went with Brazilian wife for interview at RDJ. After being shown where to sit. We met the Famous Alex who scolded us about listening to his instruction on filling out interview cards.. actually the Brazilians who went to interview took it as a scolding I took it as a man who probably had to make this speech a million times and people still asked the same questions. Anyway after we filled out the cards Alex called us one by one to make sure all was in order and at that point we met the nice pleasant helpful Alex. He got our documents in order. Assuring us to not be nervous and what to do next. After that we sat in order and was called to the window to submit our original documents. Originals were returned copies were kept and put into a file folder. We were then instructed to return to our seat and wait to be called for interview. We met and spoke to others in the room and one by one we were called. All five before us entered nervous and came out smiling and with tears in their ey... read complete review

Good, quick experience. We got there early for our 8:20 appt and waited outside for a little bit. There were only 3 of us in line. We expedcted to be there all day based on other reviews, but everything went super fast. We were escorted inside the building and Alex and another lady gave us a checklist so we could sort out and put our documents in order. Then we waited for a lady to call us and check our paperwork against our case on file. She asked my fiance basic questions about him and his case. It was more admin stuff. Also took his fingerprints. That part went smooth and took a few minutes. Then we sat down and waited to be called by the consul. She was lovely and only asked two questions. First asked if we had ever been married before, which we both said no. Then asked my fiance, "when and how did you meet, tell me a little bit about your story." My fiance begin to tell her and he didn't mention the year, so she politely interrupted him and asked for the year, which he told her. T... read complete review
