The interview went very smooth. On top of the questions they usually ask everybody, they asked me a lot about my past J1 visa and the countries where I lived. They also asked a lot about the times my wife visited me in Brazil and about her employment history. The consul was very polite and did not give me a hard time at all. The interview was carried out in English. The only downside was the waiting. The whole process took close to 3 hours, and waiting for your turn is just torture.

After waiting so long my mother finally got her visa. Father sadly passed away before interview came. Waited 1 year and 6 months for an interview.

I arrived at the consulate earlier than the scheduled appointment. There was already an officer organizing the lines (it opens at 8am local time). Make sure you communicate and inform what your application is, in general I found everyone in there to be resourceful and willing to help.
Once I got to the specific section for my type of visa I was attended by one officer who instructed me on how to organize my documents based on a checklist that was provided by the officer himself. After this step my documents were checked and I was told to wait in line. Two interviews will then follow: the first seems to be a basic check the applicant's identity and if the case has something missing or a detail has been overlooked.
The second interview is the definitive one and it is held with a different officer who gets to approve or deny the visa. As long as your case is bonafide and enough evidence has been provided during the petition phase all applicants should be fine at this point. ... read complete review
