Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

This is my and my wife's experience at the US Embassy in Bangladesh.

My wife is the beneficiary. Her interview was scheduled for 1:30 PM. We initially planned that she would go alone but then decided we would go in together. I could not find anything stating not to or that doing so would be harmful.

We arrived at the entrance gate at 12 PM. There was a a guard there who directed people in. He stated we would not be able to enter until 1 PM. We decided to walk around to this lake a few blocks away and go back at 1 PM.

The guard stated no cell phone were allowed but it seems since I was a US Citizen, I was allowed use of one of their lockers. It seems they do not allow Bangladesh passport holders access to the lockers. We entered, went through metal detectors.

There were two long benches in hall and another room (with no back wall) filled with benches. We provided the interview letter to one of the employees with badges and they... read complete review

Review Topic: F-2A Visa

My F2A Immigrant visa interview date was 25th August 2013, at 10:30 am. I reached there with my daughter (Ruhani Khan), my mom and my elder brother (Tomal) at 7:45 am. My mother in law and my sister in law went there from their home (Uttara). Own home is in old Dhaka (Gandaria). My wife is my petitioner. She is in USA. She got DV 2009. When she went there she was pregnant of 3 months. My daughter was born in USA at 2010. My wife came back to BD at the same year. And went back to USA alone. I and my daughter stay here. That was my simple history.
Now I'll share my Dhaka US consulate experience.
I entered to the embassy with my daughter at 8:00am. A Bangladeshi lady announced my name to entered the window number 8. I entered there with my daughter. When the pretty women saw me with my daughter, she asked me why my daughter's name was not in my interview appointment latter. I confirmed her that my daughter is already US citizen by birth. She seems that my wife is here in Ban... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was scheduled on 8.30 AM which was actually happened in between 3-4 PM. Based on my previous US tourist visas and student visa interview experiences, this waiting period was unexpected and painful. I strongly suggest that everyone should arrange some dry foods on their own. I was observing that almost everyone went out with frowning face holding the "blue form" of administrative processing. This situation made me more depressed. However, my interview went really fine. The counselor was already prepared with the visa issuance paper before I entered into the room.

We had our interview on 7th JULY, Sunday at Dhaka US Emb, guess what its an AR/AP

Our Interview scheduled at 7:45 am. We were escorted by a security personnel to the locker, where we put our cellphones, and then scanning area, then a walkway to the final waiting room. Three rows of long benches, and eight numbered doors in that room. We were seated, and just at 7:45 am one lady called from Door # 5 asked all applicants to submit the interview letter. She ripped off the first page and returned the rest and told us to wait until they call us.
After 30 mins of waiting, they started calling one by one to submit the papers. I was called in window #1, A Bangladeshi lady (little grumpy) asked me to hand over my passport and returned my original civil docs. Took my finger prints, Left-Right-two thumps. Asked whats my spouses name- I answered. Then said, go have a seat, we will call you again. I asked, do i have to provide any docs, she replied "NO we have everything we ... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband got to the US Embassy at 7am for his 7:45am interview. At 7:30am he was called to a window where his appointment letter was checked and all previously submitted original documents were returned to him. After waiting for a while he was called in to a room for his interview. The CO was a very friendly older White American gentleman who spoke with my husband in both English and Bangla. Upon walking into the room, my husband noticed the CO already had the AP form in his hand. They shook hands, my husband sat down. The CO asked him the following questions:

Q: Who petitioned for you?
Q: Where is your wife now?
Q: What does she do for a living?
Q: What do you do for a living?

At this point the CO got into an extended side conversation with my husband about his medical degree/future plans, while handing him the AP form. When my husband saw the AP form his face must of paled because the CO stopped what he was saying abruptly and st... read complete review
