Well not too bad for an interview... 5 mins to hand in the documents. Wait 3 hours then have the interview.... unfortunately being a New Zealander, I had to send a form (with the DS 230) for them to send to NZ for my police check (NZ does not issue police cert) this was not back on the day of my interview but they requested a follow up that day. So I did not get my visa issued.

Did not have the dragon lady, but a really lovely young lady who was very polite and we noticed that alot of people were being called back alot to check over their documents.... BE PREPARED!!
Affidavit of Support seemed to be the most problematic with most people (there on the day). Not enough documentation or asset based without supporting documents.

Cons Off was very nice and asked very few questions really but with James and myself answering at the same time problably helped LOL
Actually the cons off looked a bit sad when he issued my 221g and did make sure to ... read complete review

I found as long as you are extremely organised things will go smoothly, Sydney are very strict on organisation. There is one Lady interviewer who is nicknamed the dragon lady from a lot of VJ aussie members but she is actually a real sweetheart once she has processed your paperwork, she doesnt seem to show any compassion until your paperwork is filed, but once the paperwork is filed she is really lovely and helpful

there is only one word for anyone going through Sydney Consulate and that is
ORGANISATION

oh and enjoy the view while you are waiting it is a bueatiful site of Sydney Harbour

Had the interview about a month after receiveing papers.

When I went to interview had a problem with my police clearance (NOT my fault - police didn't clear fingerprints and clearance together on certificate). Consulate lady said there was no way I would get my visa that day and was a bit rude about it, but when I told her that I had a flight to the US in two days she seemed a bit sympathetic and said that if I got her the document the next day I could do a walk-in the following day (the day my flight was) and she would issue it on the spot as everything else was fine.

Was in a much better mood the next time (remembered us), issues my visa without too much hassle and I made it to my flight two hours later!!

Longish wait, but not too bad. Most of the security and consular staff seemed very nice.

The consulate sent out the paperwork promptly and scheduled my interview reasonably fast. That wasn't a problem. I had a personal problem with the Dragonlady behind the counter doing my interview (we had a misunderstanding and she didn't take kindly to the fact that I was having a major anxiety attack), and had to wait three hours before they even called my name. Apart from that they were good.

I found dealing with the consulate in Sydney to be a very painless experience.

Tha main thing is to be prepared....have all your documents plus copies of documents assembled in the order asked for before you get there. They will ask you to hand over all the documents at one time then send you back to your seat to wait while they go through them.

They then call you again to give you back your original documents before you wait again for the interview.

The interview itself is conducted at a window in the main room.....everyone can hear! But that's OK.......you get to hear other peoples interviews too.

If you are organised, prepared things will be fine.

But be prepared to possibly spend a few hours waiting around!
