Very efficient document collation and security process on the 10th floor. Then up to take a number and wait. I have 2 children who were part of the application process. So we waited a little longer and watched other K1 applicants have their interview and leave. That was a little daunting but overall we were in and out in just under 2hrs.

The Immigration Officer was very efficient and professional. He asked all the questions you’d expect like when was the last time I had seen my fiancé in person etc. I was told to expect passports and visas within the 2 weeks.

All round great experience. Even the security were helpful & friendly (and there were plenty of those, even the elevators had security). So, elevator to tenth floor, follow the flags through to the other side of the building. Met security outside the office who made sure my phone was off, put it in a lockable satchel and handed back to me. I go through to desk where the checklist of documents were gone through, they were then all put into a plastic folder.
Then I went through what was exactly like airport security. Removed all placed in tray (including belt & watch) went through scanner. Then put everything back on and in pockets (wallet was examined because it showed metal inside, DUH).
No wait, straight to another elevator and another level. This is the interview office. Got number from machine and waited. Called to window where documents were thoroughly checked as to dates & validity then placed in purple folder. Told to sit.
Next called to window where the actu... read complete review

When I scheduled my interview with Sydney, I requested for my fiance to attend the interview with me, and they let security know. I'm from Brisbane so I flew into Sydney on Monday morning with my fiance and stayed at the Travel Lodge at Martin Place. We paid an extra $40 for a late, 1pm checkout the next day.

My appointment was scheduled for 8AM on the Tuesday so I arrived at the MLC centre at 7:30AM. I went up to level 10 and took a seat on the chairs outside of the security area and waited for them to open. The elevator wasn't working to take us up to the interview area so the consulate opened a little late, but to be honest this didn't bother us because they let everyone know that no one was going to miss their appointment.

After an hour or so I went through to a desk where someone checked my documents as per the checklist. Subsequently I went through security (just like airport security) and gave them our phones to hold onto. I sat in a new seating a... read complete review

I was approved on February 12.

The following is my account of what happened from start to finish.

After my packet was sent from the NVC to Sydney, I monitored the ceac site daily for the status to change to 'received' and then finally to 'ready'.

As soon as it was 'ready' I called and made a medical appointment for ASAP (4 days later) I then went into my draft emails and sent a pre-composed email of the following:
_------------------------------------

Hi,

With my case number showing as 'Received' on CEAC.state.gov I am pro-actively writing with the information required to proceed with packet 4 and/or to schedule an interview date.

Name: {your name}
Case No.: SYD00000000000
Email: {your email}
DS-160 Confirmation: {your DS160}
MRV transaction confirmation and payment receipt are attached.

I have all the required documents (and copies... read complete review

My fiance's interview was scheduled for 11AM. He had no issues getting to the consulate, and arrived about an hour early. As others have posted, he went through security and they kept his phone. They also went through his documents quickly and put them back into a folder to take with him.

After getting off the lift, he took a number and sat down (10:15AM). About 10 minutes later, his number was called and they took his birth certificate (copy and original), police check, I-134, and supporting documents. He sat down again and waited approximately 1 hour before his number was called again (I assume mainly because he arrived quite early). His actual interview lasted less than 10 minutes.

Questions that were asked:
1. How did you meet?
2. When have you visited each other?
3. Have you been married?
4. Do you have kids?

They did not look at any of the "proof of ongoing relationship" documents we brought. He was immedia... read complete review
