Ha, I'm a totally obsessive organizer as well. It totally came in handy now with the petition and everything
Make that 3 of us! lol

Due to my diet, and the expectation that I'll loose 20-30lbs before my wedding, I can't really order a dress right now.
I've bookmarked a couple of sites, though.
And yes, I am at work.
I'm kind of a private person, so actually most of my office doesn't even know I'm divorced, much less engaged.
Luckily as long as I get my work done my boss doesn't care.
Heehee Sneaky sneaky
TwoCats - didn't i see somewhere your in the business of computers? I am too so I have no choice but to stare at a computer all day so it makes it easy to be on here and work at the same time

P.s. Are any of you suppose to be working right now?? I see like 7 people on this page. I don't know about you but i'm struggling more and more with keeping my focus on work. Even though my boss is so awesome I'm having troubles keeping focused. Somehow knowing that I'm done, and that Canada wont be my home much longer, sure does force me to have to MAKE myself work!

We set our date for October and my wedding dress has been ordered!
I couldn't wait to go dress shopping
However, it very soon became a chore. Trying on 50 dresses is a workout i tell ya! haha.
My bridesmaids and myself even picked out there dresses too. We'll order those in March or April.

Have any of you read any other group forums?? I was reading a couple forums, like ours, and they were all at each others throats!! Boy am i glad we are all getting along and I hope it stays like that but I have no doubts.
I'm fairly behind in my readings here and I just got caught up! I can't believe how long you guys have to wait to see your sweeties
. It puts things in perspective though. The longest Jason and I have been apart is 4 weeks. We are pretty lucky as its only a 10hour drive for us. Sometimes we meet in the middle on weekends but we usually stick to once a month visits.
I guess I shouldn't complain about being apart any more as there are those, many of you, that have to be apart even longer. Guess i need to give my head a shake
I'm fairly confident that we will see our visa's by August! Its all about faith guys! Keep up the positive attitudes

Ahh Mondays.
Welcome to another week in the wait!
I'll only start worrying about the online access at CSC if someone /after/ us starts being able to. At that point, I might get a little bit irked.
Things have been a little harder for me this past weekend. My SO's landlord is a <insert expletive for donkey here> and told him the place he lives had good internet. Apparently one of the superiors in the company that rents his flat informed him that he was never supposed to claim it had working internet, and it hasn't for over a year. The landlord also agreed to let him out of his contract due to the issues with being lied to about the internet, and the superior said he had no ability to promise that either. Bleh.
So we've been going all weekend only able to talk on Skype via his phone, which disconnects randomly. We weren't really able to do anything together we would normally do so it ended up being /boring/.
When we started this process, the two of us decided to go on a diet together (since we both could stand to lose some weight). So far, since submitting the packet, I've lost 13lbs. He's lost a few kgs but not sure exactly how much (he only started counting last week). Might be a long wait for us, but at least we're doing something to better ourselves, I guess.
Our case was forwarded to CSC and I haven't been able to log in online either.

You were able to schedule an interview date at the beginning of the month for THIS month?! That's awesome. How'd you manage that? Everywhere I read has horror stories of how long it takes to book an interview.
USCIS wasn't processing as many NOA2's mid-late last year because of the issue with Haiti. Which probably let the offices in Montreal and Vancouver catch up on interviews. Its Montreal that seems to be the most backedup. Vancouver's list isn't quite as bad to get an interview sooner.

We filed in June 2010, I got my packet 3 mid-September, took me 5 weeks to get my background check, so I sent my application in Nov 26th. They only took three weeks to get back to me, I scheduled my interview for January 21st (tomorrow!) at the beginning of the month, and had my medical exam on January 4th. So total, if I had gotten my background check beforehand, it would've taken just under 6 months. This was through the Vermont center in the US, and the Montreal consulate here in Canada.
How come it took so long for your background check to come in? At our RCMP office, in town, they give you the certificate from CPIC that day. Same as the Police station in the city. Were they just really backed up?

Oh good! I was hoping the petitioner would get it till we sort out this mail issue. Thanks!
We don't have a delivery route in our town. All mail is taken directly to the local post office. There they sort through the mail and deliver to our Box #'s, which is in the same building as the local post office. Its basically a one stop shop!
I talked to the Postmaster and he said that all mail that arrives with the street address gets returned to the sender, if there is no Box # listed on the package. So it looks like we will have to some how contact CSC and add my mailing address.
What a pain!

Go to the Canada forum! Every case can be different but for every country its about the same processing time. Average wait can take 5-9 months! In more cases than you would like to see it can take 1 year, and in rare cases it can take 2 years.
Just make sure you provide lots of proof of your relationship, double check your paperwork over a million times, send correct fee, mail to correct office, etc. and you should have no flaws.

We got our NOA1 email last night!! We've been forwarded to California.
-
Does anyone also know if we will have to fill out form AR-11? technically its not a change of address but adding my mailing address. Or do you think calling is good enough, to whatever office our application gets sent to that is?
-
Do they send the NOA1 to the Petitioner?
-
So apparently everyone who sent the packet out on Jan 10 got their E-notifications today/last night...should be our turn in 2 days then, I hope
YA, YA OUR TURN, OUR TURN!!!

So we recently sent out the K1 -Fiance visa but i realize i didn't put my mailing address, which is a PO Box #, and just put my physical address. Do they send the packets to a PO box or do they have to be a physically delivered to a street address? Do I try to add a mailing address by contacting USCIS? I contacted our local post office in town and the postmaster said anything without a PO box # will be sent back. Help!! What do i do?
-
-
Well the thing is we live in a town and All mail gets taken directly to the Post Office, where all of our mail boxes are. If an envelope says 415 Smith Street the Post Office sends the letter back because it Has to say P.O. Box 222 (or whatever our box # is). I called our local post office and the lady said she sends all mail back if the Box # is not labelled. I can't believe this..blaah lol!!! Do they even send the benefiarcy anything in the mail? or just to our fiance in the US?
-
I just realized that I didn't put my PO Box on my K1 application. I just put my physical address but the post office doesn't deliver to my house just to our PO Box! What do i do? When and how do i notify USCIS? I still haven't received my NOA1 yet. I can't really follow the steps for "changing my address" as i'm not really changing it.
-
Darn we put the email notification behind the cover letter too!
-
Oh what a relief! Thank you! I live in Saskatchewan too! :-) How long did it take till you got your interview? I'm on my phone so I can't view your timeline :-(.
-
Hey Everyone!
We just sent our application on the 12th.
-
Hello!!
Are there any other newbies who have just sent there application? I don't know about you but i'm biting my finger nails already and praying that everything goes smoothly.
-
Thanks everyone for your comments. Knowing that I'm a September 2010 filer, is it realistic for us to plan a wedding for August 6th 2011??
I'm not sure what the rule is for other Countries but you can visit your fiance in the US while your K1 is being processed. All you have to have is proof that you will be returning to your country. All you need is a letter from your employer that you will be back, pay stubs from pay cheques, and/or a lease agreement from your landlord, and/or mortgage, and/or bank statement, and/or utility bill, and/or etc. They just want to make sure we are in fact visiting and will not be trying to stay ilegally. I have a cousin who went through this and she had no problems going to the US while her application was being processed. Just take proof that you have ties in your home country still.

Hey everyone,
We just sent our K1 application on Jan 12. I just read somewhere that the only 2 places in Canada where the interviews are held for the K1 is in Vancouver or Montreal. When we filled out our application we put Calgary as the local USCIS I would be going to, as i was basing it on where USCIS offices are based out of from the websites. Does anyone know if USCIS will just adjust it automatically and send us to either city for the interview, or will they send our application back and make us put either Vancouver or Montreal if interviews are only held there for the K1?
