  1. Were any of the forms filled out with her married name? Is her passport in her married name?

All the IV docs have all been in her previous name as well as her passport. I guess I was under the impression that since she was providing copies of our marriage license (with new last name) that they would have used her new name for the new Visa they just created for her. Maybe that's not how they do it.,,,?

    Thanks Saylin!

  2. Well,,, the medical exams are complete now. The clinic hit us up for some unexpected inoculations (recommended 2nd doses...about $550 worth!). We don't think they were required, but the physician was pretty animate about not providing the medical reports short of us going to the consulate and getting a letter waiving the extra shots. Didn't want to risk any delays so proceeded with the additional shots. Part of me feels like we were being scammed, but maybe they really were required. Oh well,,, all is complete & she has all the medical exam docs needed to take to the interview this Friday (about 37 hours from now!) It's going to be hard sleeping this Thursday night!!

  3. I guess most who frequent this forum have finally reached a point of completion (or near completion) and that would explain the dramatic decrease in postings! Sad,,, yet a very good thing! Wow,,, i will miss the encouraging & sometimes entertaining posts I've enjoyed here throughout my journey! Thanks to all who have shared their personal feelings and to those (Saylin really stands out,,,) who have put much effort into assisting others by posting mucho informative and positive information that has been ever so helpful! I know I have benefited from this forum more so than the support & encouragement I've received from my own attorney! Well,,, I guess they get paid for ensuring it's done right,,, and not so much for making me feel good! Ja ja!

Well,,, Onward Ho!! God bless everyone with their personal journeys,,,and may their journeys end the same as the rainbow ends at the pot of shiny gold (trust me... that is a good thing! :P !)

  4. My wife went to the biometric /fingerprinting appointment today,,,she said it was very fast! Evidently I already paid for this as part of a previous fee, because there was no charge (I think they hit you up for $80 otherwise).

The kids will go to their appointment on Monday,,, not sure why they just didn't do them all at the same time,,but whatever! After that.... only 25 more days until the interview! Wahoo!

  5. I'm so annoyed called again and again I get another answer about the checklist I sent in on May 14th! Well, this time after 5 times getting different answers and sending paperwork back and forth. This time the lady talked to a supervisor and I sent in yet again the same paperwork but in a different way! I'm so over this! I still haven't received the next checklist and I have sent in 4 times since because of what the operators say. Well I hope this is it and the supervisor told me the right way to send in. Does anyone know exactly how long it will take for the rfe to be approved like how many days? Because I heard if it is the right paper work it will take less time to approve and that I don't have to wait the whole 20 business days. The way I sent the rfe in today made a lot of sense because they told me that they need proof of relationship between both house hold members and petitioner. But first let me tell a little info the past operators told me just to send in marriage license house hold members and birth certificates petitioner. Second just to send house hold members marriage license and my marriage license 3rd the opperator told me I have to fill out a joint sponser form becuase we couldn't use I-864A form for house hold member because they were not claimed on the petitioners income tax. Found that was wrong because of information I found on USCIS website which said that you can use a house hold member form I-864A on inlaws if they lived 6 months or longer together and if related through marriage since my hubby is the petitioner and the inlaws are his house hold members. I called again because I was getting so many different answers and the lady again told me no you can use them and that you need to send in your marriage license and my birth certificate and my mom and dads marriage licence. Which that is what I sent in on the 27th and and was recieved over their on the 31st. Again I called today like I said and she the operator talked to a supervisor and they told me to send in two different checklists 1 for mother inlaw with the checklist their marriage certificate and my birth certificate and my marriage licence and father in law remind you these are my parents and I say inlaws because this is what the lady said because the petitioner is using his inlaws anys, father inlaw with checklist their marriage licence and my birth certificate and mymarriage license. Just to let everybody know I sent all of this in april. So anyways I think they made sence this time. I hope it closes pretty soon because I have 2 more cases attached to this case and they are already closed and I am ready to seperate the cases so I can have theirs done already. thanks guys who answer appreciate it!

I don't have any experience with your particular situation, but at least you have a supervisor looking into it for you now. I would call them again (every day) and follow up on the status of the documents you just submitted. Make sure they have them in the system. They should also be able to see on their screen if a supervisor was assigned to look into your case (at least that's how it worked for me). Hang in there & good luck,,, it can be frustrating sometimes but sounds like you're close to the finish line!

  6. OK I called the NVC "human" and spoke to a "human" and the "human" told me that I had asked for my AOS to be reviewed on May 27 last Friday. I told the "human" that I had already asked for it to be reviewed at least 3 times before that (I lost count). Well the "human" told me that they only see that I had requested on the 27th and nothing before that and to wait 10-15 business days from that day. I just swallowed my temper and thanked the "human" and said I will wait longer.

Qualifications to be a "human" at NVC:

    have at least one eye

be able to read some basic English

be able to lie when needed

    Optional:

    some brain

    second eye

    understanding English

being able to write in English

 I've spoke to an NVC cyclops today about my spouses pending interview date, and they were none too pleasant! I called back later & spoke to a different operator and wow! What a difference!! I actually felt like they realized I've paid a lot of money for this process and that they should talk to me like a valued paying client! Ha ha! :P

I hope you get the AOS issue smoothed over real soon CaliforniaGuy..... it will all be a distant memory soon!!

  7. thank you guys !so i will translate it!

Maybe is not your intent, but I don't believe you or your spouse (petitioner or beneficiary) can perform the translation...wasn't sure if that's what you meant.

I believe it can be translated by anyone else (does not need to be a professional translator)as long as they are competent do do so & sign the required verbiage previously referenced in the post.

  8. I also have 3 cases at nvc and I sent in my checklist for the 4th time and seen that you had a supervisor look at it. 2 of my cases are already complete but the first one I'm having trouble with. How did you get a supervisor to look at your cases and is does it really work?

I called a regular operator to check on my case status and explained that it had been over 23 business days (they request 20 before calling them) since my DS-260 confirmation e-mails.... the fellow I spoke with happened to feel it should be escalated to a supervisor to figure out where my cases were. Not sure if they pass on to a supervisor as a rule of thumb, but that's what he did for me. I believe you have the right to request to speak to a supervisor...again not sure if they push back on that request,,, but if they do, I would just call back and speak with another operator and keep asking to speak to a supervisor until they pass you on to one.

    Good luck!!!

  9. Yah! Got the ever elusive SIF today when logging into the payment portal!

I hope this means that they married-up the AOS docs and everything looked okay! Actually kinda surprised it happened that quickly since I just got the checklist e-mail yesterday. I guess I'll call NVC tomorrow and see if they can verify if the cases are complete... although I suspect a CC may take a few more business days at the least...but ya never know!! :D

  10. My wife's interview was today... APPROVED!!! She asked about picking up the visa tomorrow but, the Consulate said to wait for approximately 2 weeks to receive it in the mail :( Kind of a bummer because our 1 year wedding anniversary is next week.... but hey, we've waited this long... what's two more weeks, right?

Yippie!! Congratulations on the approval! :star::dance::star: Wow! I hope the next 2 weeks really fly by fast for you!

  11. NVC Nightmare....!

Got case complete email, sign in fail on payment portal on May 16th.....AVR said case complete and called NVC and talked to an operator who confirmed case complete. Me and my wife were on cloud nine on May 16th.

May 17th, I called the NVC operator for an interview date. She tells me, after case complete during final documents review, they did not accept what I had submitted for my wife's unavailability of birth certificate and they are sending me an RFE.

Got the RFE in email and working on it now....!

    RFE after case complete....! Grrrr.......!

Man! So sorry to hear that... that's a real let-down! I guess it's not 100% complete until you have an interview letter in hand. It's a shame it has to be this way.

For me, I called on Friday and the operator did not see my case, so he notified a supervisor. Called again today, and they just indicated that a supervisor was alerted and inquiring on the whereabouts of my case, and that it could take several days for them to respond to that! Augh! :help:

Oh well... praying for you to have a quick resolution to your RFE...! Hopefully it won't take them long to wrap it up!

  12. I thought EP would have been faster since it saves time mailing and scanning but I now believe that sending by mail would have been faster. They need more time to be more efficient with EP. Right now since I already started the process, sending them mail is not an option anymore. They already have my AOS and I got an RFE for it that I replied to it on May 2nd. So I need to wait it out.

I tell ya, It's becoming mind torture! I called again today and this time they tell me they have no record of my DS-260! Augh! At least the last person I talked to acknowledged they had all the documents! It's certainly not a consistent process. They also told me that since the AOS was submitted separate from the DS-260, I would automatically get an RFE for the AOS, but is considered a false RFE since in reality they do have it,,,just needs to get married-up! Clear as mud, huh!?

It would just be nice if they could emphatically say that "YES...We have all the necessary documents to process your case and it is still in review"! Unfortunately...I'm stuck in limbo-land not knowing for sure if they have all required details to proceed, Man! Am I ranting...?? Ha ha :o

  13. Well,,, today is the 20th business day since electronic submission & acknowledgment by the NVC. I called to inquire on the status of my 3 cases, and all I got was "Sir, we can see that everything is here & is still under review. It can take up to 4 weeks, but you may want to call back in a week to check the status again at that time". Augh! I think I'm going to start calling every day now moving forward! I feel it's close to completion, and no RFE's yet... Come on NVC!! Let's wrap it up!
