  1. The usual suspects have their heads in the sand.
You could dredge up dozens of right wing articles that are just as scary. Everyone pull their panties out of their buttcrack and knock it off. Until anything is remotely close to becoming a policy it doesn't matter, so enough already.
That's short sighted thinking, ignores the concept of "mindshare" and fails to recognize that acclimation is the key to subjugation.
  2. just like you see in NFL and NHL games.
Yeah, I don't understand that either.

ANYTHING can be a first, if you look hard enough.

Today I was the first white man driving a silver vehicle, while wearing a black down coat and sandles to go to a specific fred meyer at a specific address and buy exactly $110.32 worth of food - on this specific date.

    Big deal.

Looky there - all but two democrats voted for it. As for the House - 145 democrats voted for the Patriot act.

So, please tell us again how the democrats will protect us from evils as the Patriot Act.

  4. I will be applying for my US citizenship next month and would like to setup PO BOX for my N-400 communication with USCIS. I want to keep my home mail address for my other regular mail (Bills, pay check, insurance etc). I do not want to change my mail home address with USCIS for other applications. Is that possible?
Of course it is. I dunno why anyone would think differently.

You can put any mailing address you want on any app you send them.

FWIW, I for "residence address" I always make a note: NO MAILBOX! DO NOT SEND MAIL HERE!!!

I have no mail box for my house. Any mail sent to my street address gets stamped "no mail receptacle at address" and is returned to sender.

  5. As Madison correctly pointed out, ''the Western States neither would nor ought to submit to a union which degraded them from an equal rank with the other States.'' Since the admission of Tennessee in 1796, Congress has included in each State's act of admission a clause providing that the State enters the Union ''on an equal footing with the original States in all respects whatever.''

The thing that the anti-EC people don't seem to get is the States, are in and of themselves a sovereign legal entity, regardless of their population. The U.S. is NOT just "one big nation" - it is nation composed of (currently) 50 states, and each of those states exists and has a voice, independent of the people who live there.

As SCOTUS ruled in 1911, 'This Union' was and is a union of States, equal in power, dignity and authority, each competent to exert that residuum of sovereignty not delegated to the United States by the Constitution itself.

  6. My main question regarding EC vs PC is this: Why should Wyoming vote count for so much considering that it, as a population, does not contribute as much to the whole US of A?
Because of the "equal footing doctrine" - the notion that each state is an equal member of the political union, regardless of anything else. The same logic is already used with respect to congress. It's why each state gets 2 votes in the senate, regardless of their population.
  7. For one you kind of have to assume that everyone who would sign up to this kind of arbitrary marriage contract is in their own right mind at the time and their inalienable rights (such as human rights are defined by the constitution and bill of rights) wouldn't be infringed by an unscrupulous partner or an incompetent lawyer.
    That's true for any contract.

If you were able to sign your rights away at the outset of marriage...
..and so naturally, you assume that people would be signing over all their rights....

    What you're suggesting....
Is allowing people to decide for themselves how their marriage should work, and maximizing liberty.

You don't need to throw the rule book out of the window simply because one group of minorities is seeking a slight rule change to protect their interests.
So you should only protect against discrimination, if it is convenient to do so.

Would you want to pay for all that red tape?
I pay for "red tape" every day.
  8. Besides yourself and maybe one other Republican (you voted for them so you are one :P),
I dunno why you think I voted for the republicans.

there has largely been piss poor arguments made against Obama's candidacy, embroiled in the most sensationalist, irrelevant and unsubstantiated garbage devoid of logic and the issues at hand. A few names of those with such horrible arguments include VW, metta, some dude with a chick in his avatar who's been on a tirade against Obama of late, Tamarasomething (just remember a camel), Gary, charles (really never made any argument, just was a fanboy), kaydee, zqt, LuckyStrike.. just to name a few.
But I'll take the compliment, thanks.
