Service request secured! In 15 days I am supposed to call again if I haven't heard anything.
After telling me 3 times that my petition was received on July 1st and that processing times were taking just about 5 months, I insisted I needed a service request. The agent said incredulously, "What do you need a service request for?"... And then promptly entered one as though nothing was stopping her the first 3 times I asked....
I don't imagine they gave any indication or details as to what is going on while you were talking to them, did they?
-
I've reached 5 months today and still no word from USCIS.. Looks like we're all at a stand still.
As far as any information shows there's been no movement of any kind for July filers at CSC since 4August
-
Lame. I was hoping you guys would have better luck than we did.
Tomorrow is five calendar months. Wanna take bets on whether they'll actually put in a service request or whether they'll give me another weak excuse like when I tried to call after 150 days?
No bets. The real thing to bet on is whether or not a service request results in anything more than "Ah, yes, we have a file".

Yes, I have read Ryan's forum topic. It's been very helpful!
I am still figuring out how to work my Health Insurance to cover my wife when she arrives.
Will start on prepping for interview immediately. Lots of things to do...
I can't speak for everywhere of course, but after we got married I added her to mine without any problems. I did have to consult the HR people as the online website was insisting on her needing a SSN, which she obviously doesn't have yet.

I really wish that our case was at VSC!
Don't we all....
July VSC people are nearly done with NVC if not already interviewed...
-
I called again this morning to find out the status of the service request that was placed and was told i have to wait another 15 days for them to get back to me...I guess the waiting game continues......You just cannot win with the CSC...We are their mercy
:help:
:help:
So what is the total number of days they said you have to wait? 30?
-
"For most people"-That is right because "some people" get AP by default. Such as people from my country.
Yeah... go government, no?

I'm just going to get up on my soapbox for one second to say that (yes, I know the USCIS does an important job with a huge volume of requests):
What drives me crazy are the inequities of the system and the lower priority that personal petitions, family petitions, are given than corporate-based petitions. A temporary worker takes a month- a wife, 6 months. But the petitioner's sponsorship is actually much greater than the corporation's! We are putting people last. End of soapbox.
At least six months for a wife/husband. Worse than that, as I understand it I'm not even sure corporate visas (especially so-called pool visas) even need interviews and even if they do getting approved is practically assured if the person isn't automatically disqualified.
The bonus for all our waiting with USCIS is that we're not waiting for approval. Not really. We're waiting for processing which may result in approval. Or maybe in denial. Or an RFE with accompanying additional waiting.
And then on to the dice roll (outside of favored counties dice roll) that is the interview.

Yeah, nothing like being misinformed or outright lied to, to improve the lot of desperate, basically powerless people in an already miserable situation.
Indeed... indeed

They have been telling my husband June 16 for the last 18 days. I got my NOA2 on 10 November (22 June file date), 2 of my children got RFE on 24 November and the third hasn't even been acknowledged. Everytime he calls they tell him, to wait 6 days and they are still processing June 16! I just don't understand how they can split a families application up and it end up being so far apart.
Nice of them to tell you they are working on a date 6 days prior to your already issued NOA2, no?
-
The first guy i spoke to told me that CSC are working on June 16th applications anf that i have nothing to worry about. But i told him i have all to worry about when i go to bed every time without my wife and daughter by my side..I asked him to put himself in my should and tell me what he will do....He kept quiet and then said he is transfering me to his boss
It was reported in the other thread that people have been told they are working on 16June now for more than two weeks. Accurate data sure would be nice, no?
That said, I wouldn't be shocked to find out that information is updated at a batch level and not real time.

Don't know what it shows here, but just verbatim what the customer service person told me. First I asked if there was some status I could get, as their own guideline of 5 mos has been exceeded. He said yes, I could submit an inquiry. When he went into the system to do that (he says), it shows him that CSC is now "working on" I-130s from 6/16. I don't know exactly what the def of "working on" is. Then he says that it won't let him submit an inquiry until after "my" NOA1 date of 6/27. And suggested I call back in a week or two. So it sounds to me like CSC is backed up right now.
That much has been obvious for a bit. All one has to do is look at the extremely rapid approvals coming out of VSC to know that CSC is disproportionally backed up. Lucky us, no?
-
Wow do I ever feel blessed that it was only 27 days from the time I dropped it in the mail until we got NOA2.
Sorry everyone else is having a slow time
Must be nice....

According to the timelines here they are processing July and some august too. Can anybody call USCIS to ask them on which date they are currently processing?
I'd love to know how to actually get them to tell you anything but "Your application is within processing guidelines".
-
So what happens when you see a petition with a higher number than yours is approved and yours is still in the "initial review" status?
Or when other petitioners already have their visa and their status shows on USCIS.Gov as initial review?
Knock yourself out and track all the petitons on the site, but ultimately you will need Xanax for your efforts.
I'm not trying to disuade you from your effort if it helps you to pass the time but you will NOT find what you are seeking by perusing other petition case numbers on the USCIS site.
Don't forget the ultra lucky people who got approved in two weeks flat... first come first served.... riiiiighhhhhttttt.....
-
I am 151 days today and i called USCIS to find out whats going on....The guy told me its within the normal time but i told him ,it is not and that its taking forever..So i asked to be transfered to his Boss who put in a service request for me and gave me the reference number.....
Wasn't it nice of the guy to tell you first that it is within normal time? The way things are going, I'll be calling them myself in another 34 days.... so much for less than five months
-
i have 4 months this weekend.
Im tired of waiting and this is only the beginning of this whole process...
Oh yeah by the way my filling date is July 26th 2011
The good news, such as it is, is that for most people this is the longest part of the process with the next few steps usually going faster. Of course, we all know these things can change.
-
I hope you're right, but it's getting hard to hold my breath.. I did not mentally prepare for more than 5 months at USCIS. 8 months from July will put us past our first anniversary.
Neither had I. I am also sadly not holding out any hope for any kind of movement until the start of January at the earliest. Last I heard, there still hasn't been a single July approval (or even touch) since we all got dumped in the box.
Sue and I are officially at 4 full months in a few days, and it won't be long till 4 months since the last touch with no movement in sight.
I had really hoped to be stuck at USCIS for just 3 months or less like all the lucky VSC people. Of course, to be honest I figured that's where we would go.
Happy Thanksgiving... such as it is...
Sorry but I doubt it! We will most likely hear something about mid January-February.
I hope not, though I fear you may be right. If it were so late, it would completely wreck our plans for 2012.
-
I bet applications would get done faster if there was a policy of 'if we don't get to see our families over the holidays, the USCIS agents don't get to see theirs'
I've never celebrated Thanksgiving with my husband....
I'm sure that would provide amble motivation. That said, such a thing would never be done with government workers....
And neither have I.. never a Thanksgiving.. New Years.. Christmas.. Birthday (either).. or most any other holiday that would come to mind... Got close on a birthday once. We were going to be together for new year's this year but it costs too much as compared to a week later. I'd love to be there for it but with all the other costs coming up it seems hard to justify spending 600USD more to be there a week sooner even if it is for New Years. Oh well, maybe next year
I had so much hoped that it would be "No more than 5 months" instead of "At least 5 months." Sure must be nice to have been routed to Vermont, no?

Request a tourist visa you out of money and time, and go for it.
last month apply for tourist visa for me and my daughter in Tijuana Mexico, and the immigration officer said,''you are not eligible for a visa, tourist visa, you are entitled to permanent residents, an application has already been check for you and your daughter.''
GOOD LUCK
Generally speaking, excluding anyone who is eligible for VWP, no one in this forum/thread is likely to be able to get a visitor visa. The most important question with that is if you can prove you do not have an immigration intent, and with a USC spouse how could you possibly prove it? How could one prove that they will leave their spouse and go home when nothing is physically forcing them to do so?
The only reason someone who is eligible for VWP might have a chance is that they wouldn't have to prove no intent before even getting on the plane and they may not even be asked about it when they got to POE at this end. That is a risk I might be willing to take, since we really would follow the requirements of the VWP, but we're not eligible so it is moot for us.
A wise person once said, for the average Chinese person applying for a visitor visa all you're doing is paying the US government 150USD to tell you no.

VJ is a big help. It's nice to have a group of people who understand the process. After about 4 months of asking when my husband was going to be here, real life friends and family finally decided to believe me that, really, it was going to be eight months or more....and then they started trying to convince me that "Surely, just coming here on a tourist visa and just staying isn't such a big deal, right?" Facepalm. Facedesk.
Another June with an NOA2 yesterday!
Been there, done that.
"What do you mean she isn't here? You married her back in April, why isn't she here yet?"
"You mean she just doesn't get to come back with you as soon as you get married?" <-- seen too many TV shows where it is like that
I've absolutely lost track of how many times I've been asked by different people why she isn't here and how long it'll take. Such as it is, the good thing is that I've also lost track of how many people have said how messed up the system is and how much it needs change. This whole process has also given me an entirely different perspective on immigration processes in general.
I've been asked the tourist visa question a number of times. Though usually in the form of "Can't she at least visit while you wait?" Then I have to explain to them that the odds of her getting a visitors visa were already near zero before we got married and the minute we said "I do" they dropped below zero. I then have to explain to them that outside of the VWP (and even that might be risky) there is little to no chance a foreigner of any kind would be able to get a visitors visa while married to an USC and awaiting an IR1/CR1. In fact, I just had to explain it yesterday. All of that is doubly true for Sue since she's Chinese and falls into the "No way in hell are you getting a visitor's visa" bucket.
You'd think they'd realize it if the visitor visa thing were an option you wouldn't be having that conversation with them as your husband/wife would likely be standing there, no?

These past 6 months we've been apart are sort of becoming a blur. I feel like my life's on pause, even though I've been trying to stay active.
Anyone else feel like they're almost hibernating through a year of their life while the USCIS wait drags on? The prospect of even more delays for us July filers is almost too much to take.
Is it any comfort to know you're not alone? I feel much the same way. I've been fortunate that I've been to see Sue more often than that, but not by much. That said, I may not be able to go so frequently in the future. For what it is worth, the timeline data seems to be firming up for a mid-December processing and my NOA1 date is towards the very end of July. Maybe we'll all luck out?
-
There are two dates August 4 and July 14 that means you were going into the bin. What about you?
Sad to say, 4August here. Were you the person with the inside source? If so, did they happen to say when they were going to pull us all back out?
Mine doesn't show that I was touched beyond the date of receipt (I think), but that might be because I didn't 'add my case' on my web account until a month or two into the process?
When was the last update date? Just your NOA1 date?
-
The sad thing is that five months is the average, so there's really no telling which ones of us will fall at the far ends of the range. If some are being approved within a month and most aren't being approved neatly within the 5 months then some must be waiting 6, 7, 8 months... : p
Frustrating isn't even the word for it...
