  1. As a current student, I can understand why it may be necessary to seperate for a few years while you finish school and she begins school. My question for you is this... when you graduate are you planning to join her? I did not see it mentioned if you are currently working as well as attending school.

If there is no way for you to physically move with her while she attends school, I would suggest you make a preliminary check of your documents now to see where you stand as it regards ROC. What do you have and what will they be looking for (the guides will help with this)? Also, how far into the move will you be filing ROC? Will it be a year (or more) after she leaves or just a few months?

  2. Hello... I'm a september filer... I need your advice. I got a letter in mail finally for my opened service request last month.. It says the typical "your case is still pending adjudication" answer.. and I will hear something by 2 month(???!). Its been already over 9 months, no RFEs no decision. Should I just wait as the letter says or what is my best option? Unlike many of you, I haven't got any RFE, approval, or interview... Nothing. I filed around Sept 15 to Vermont Center... Thanks in advance.

How did you submit the first service request? If it was thru the online portal, I would suggest physically calling and having them submit the request. If it was originally by phone, first I would call again and make sure you mention your case is outside normal processing time. While they are doing that, it may be beneficial to contact your local representative so their office can make an inquiry.

  3. They claim we didn't send sufficient proof of a bonafide marriage.

    They noted we sent:

    • Copy of marriage cert.
    • Copy of our joint account bank statement
    • Copy of health insurance
    • Copy of Credit card
    • Copy of lease

    all in both our names....

    We also sent:

    • Tax- married filing separately because I have a business and I didn't want him to partake on any of that. Should I re-send with a later explaining that? His name appears on the tax return.
    • Verizon bill. This has both our names. I don't know why they missed that. Should I re-send?
    • Of course, our ID's showing the same addresses.

    Here's the "issue":

    • I lost my job in May 2013, when I decided to create a small business. So, aside of the noted above, there's nothing else. In July 2014 we moved to an apartment rented by my own mother. I failed to add an affidavit from her stating that we both live there and that we're paying her rent which includes utilities. Should I include that with the RFE?
    • Now I'm working, so I can print out the pay stubs with the new address and explain away my unemployment.
    • We do not have a car.
    • I do not have a 401K, he does. I asked him to add me.

    I will ask for:

    • Letters stating our marriage

    What else should I add?

    Please help...... any ideas?

In the same boat. I think the suggestions given are about the same as I got - especially the letters from friends. I didn't do that the first time. Also, with the rental situation from your mother, definitely include a letter explaining that or have her write something up stating that you both live together etc.

Question: Should you resubmit the docs you sent the first time, or just the new items?

  4. On another note, these evidences are so ridiculous because many of my "legitimately married" American friends have pre-nups, separation of property, separate bank accounts and yet they are still considered married. These laws and processes are so out of date with the Global world we're living in! (End Rant!)

Good luck with sending it off!! don't forget to send return receipt so you have proof.

    Same thing I'm always saying!

  5. Not sure if the phone will work as noted above. However, if your fiancé does not yet have Whatsapp on his phone, tell him to download it immediately. Free texting app and he can use it on wifi. So, in the case he can't use his credit on the phone, he can send you a message via whatsapp. Pretty sure Atlanta International had free wifi -assuming this is his port of entry. Oh... You will need to have the app also.

  6. A friend of mine submitted his I751 back in september and did his biometrics in October. Today he called USCIS after checking the status of his case and seeing that documentation was sent to him that he never received. He was told his case was closed and a decision had been but the person he spoke to could not tell why or what the decision was. He was also told that it was never assigned to a case worker!! Has anyone had any experiences like or similar to his.

I have heard of action being taken in a case and the notice not being received. Most times it has been an error with the postal service or some sort of address mishap. However, It is very early in the process if they filed in September for the case to be resolved.

If your friend called they should be able to receive some information on the case status - or at the very least have another notice sent regarding the case status. He/she will need documentation for their case if there are any issues. I would suggest they call back and request to speak to a second tier representative.

  7. I've watched the first season and will watch the second season. I agree with others that there is a definite deception factor because the show doesn't discuss the process at all. However, the fact is... The show doesn't discuss the process at all.

I think it's focus is following the lives of couples that have decided to take this journey and now are at the point of living together in that 90 day crunch. Anyone who has gone through this process knows some if not all of the specific experience they are describing- arrival in the US, finally being a step closer to actually building your life together, adjusting to living together, and for some planning a wedding.

I do think the couple backgrounds would help make the show more realistic and less scripted. I mean one guy actually lived and worked in his spouses country so her moving to the US was their next step because his company brought him back. Those details make the stories more relatable, in my opinion. But then again, this is a reality tv show! Who are we to expect anything resembling real life?!?!

From the updates on the site, it seems all the couples are still together. They've all done one year follow up interviews, however, one couple has decided not to be shown in the follow up video airing.

Season 2 starts tonight and there are some new and different couples as someone mentioned earlier. I'll check back in for opinions from anyone that decides to watch. Lol

  8. Ok so I got my biometrics done today!!!!!!I I went to Elizabeth location today and explained I that I have two major exams this Tuesday. They said that they're not allowed to let people get their BIOs done early. I got upset and decided to drive 1,5h to Philadelphia. It was the best decision I've made in a long time. My Biometrics were done in less than 10 minutes, no questions asked. They even omitted the fact that there was a mistake in my lastname. I was the only one there :) For anyone who wishes to get the biometrics done early I strongly suggest that you go to ASC in Philly. Wonderful staff, great experience.

Going to try and do this at our local office on Monday. Hope they do not give us a hard time!

  9. Go ahead and accept the offer out of state!

My husband and I recently went through the same exact thing. Matter of fact, he accepted the offer just as his green card (2yr) was expiring. However, as someone mentioned earlier, he wasn't required to show his green card for the position. He showed them his valid, out of state, drivers license and his social security card (without any exceptions). Most importantly, he put on the I-9 that he was a legal permanent resident (this is your current status). This allows the employer to ask about your immigration status if they are concerned, but does not raise unnecessary concern.

If the employer should ask about your immigration status, I would suggest you show them the card and extension. However, I wouldn't put myself into that situation when it is not necessary. FYI - My husband accepted the position and is still working with ROC now pending. His employer never asked for GC or inquired about immigration status, but they are well aware he is not a US Citizen.

    Good luck with the position!

  11. I can see biometrics aren't coming at any swift pace. However, looks like almost everyone has their NOA1!

Steps in the right direction! :)

Inluv added to CSC! Good luck :)
