Bailey, I dont think anyone was supposed to know about the I-601. Call me crazy, but I believe it's the government's way of weeding out undesirables LEGALLY, kwim? The less people know about how to do it the better in their eyes! So in a way everything is top secret. That's why these forums are great! People get informed and get good information for the most part.

hehe...Nigel can tell you I was about ready to pull all my hair out! I was set on going on sabbatical when they called me last week!
You will get an answer when you're ready to give up! It's like they can sense it!

Do the American people not see what he wants to do? Do they not read newspapers? Why arent they questioning this plan of his? We will be returning to the US after 6 long years of being out of it, so I am curious as to how the american people really see GWB.

I would count from when they started to process it. I think you'll hear something next week by the latest.

We're moving to Florida in a few weeks (near Deerfield Beach) and I was wondering about that area..all the good places to eat, schools, transportation, etc. Any other floridians out there?

Sorry about being nitpicky Nigel...I am a control freak!
I read your other post Paul C and I am sorry you had to submit a waiver as well but London is a great place to do it if you must. IMO, Rome is one of the worst places! They are still giving out the processing time as 12-15 weeks but I dont buy that. I think that's worst case scenario like Nigel said.

It is a good kind of stress but a PITA! It looks like we may end up in an apartment after all and after 6 LONG years of living in one, I am very disappointed!
-
Nigel change my date to Jan. 30.. pleeeeeeease?
uhm..stress going away??? yeah sure... well we're under a little stress. The next big hurdle is the passport thing. We have three kids to get passports for and we're going up to Stockholm on the 15th so hopefully that goes well. A 4 hour train ride with 3 very rambunctious kids is well..HARD WORK!
After that comes the next hurdle which is finding a house (that's not going so well...yet) and after that of course is finding the right shipping company.
It really never ends does it?
How is it going on your end??? When are you planning on moving if you havent yet?

Hello Nigel and MistyB,
Okay I finally got up the nerve and emailed the Embassy yesterday afternoon and I got response this morning. Here is what they said, could you please tell me what they meant. I am just a nervous wreck since I am planning this wedding that might not happen.
The 601 for xxxx xxx was filed with this office on Dec. 13, 2006. (I think they meant 2005) The current processing times for adjudicating I-601 at this office is between 12-15 weeks. (They told us 6-12) IF the 601 is approved, we will notify the Immigrant Visa Unit at the American Embassy Consulate that your spouse had applied for the immigrant visa to let them know that the immigrant visa can be issued. If the 601 is denied; we will advise your spouse directly of the same and advise him of the procedures for appeals.
Can you guys please tell me what you gather from this??
I hate this.....
OMG!!! That is the same generic email I received on Jan. 18th! I had emailed them on the 18th because my husband had faxed them something on the 13th. I was just making sure they received it. I got the same email with my dates in it instead of yours! They wont tell you anything that's for sure! So I just quit emailing them and wasnt going to mail them again until around my birthday on 2 March. Then on the 30th the lady from Stockholm called me and asked me if I had spoken to DHS and I said "no, not in two weeks.." and she was like "I have good news for you!"...
I think you'll get an answer soon! They go by filing date in my opinion.

I just wrote the letters basically for my husband. It was all me. I handled the whole immigration thing from start to finish. I am such a control freak I know! I usually just said my husband this and that..and signed it myself on his behalf and put when it was filed and his case number.
-
I was basically as nice as humanly possible. I kissed their @ss as much as possible. I was basically asking them if they had even received the darn thing yet.
I would just phrase it like it's been 8+ weeks since you received our waiver, can you give us a status report or something like that. I hope that made sense. I only really got one rude reply in all the emails I sent them so usually they are pretty nice. Just make sure you include your filing date and case number.

jpkeswim--we filed because hubby committed a CIMT back in '95. Theft, receiving stolen property, and property damage were his charges. He never went to jail, and paid heavy fines. But I think it helped his case he wrote a remorse letter and we have children together.
Congrats Misty! I know it's been a frustrating process for you. So happy that it's finally over...No, not nearly as ridiculous or frustrating as to what you and Javier have to go through! I wish you both loads of luck!!!

MISTY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this is the best news I've read in quite a while!!! You must be esctatic!!!! When are you guys moving???
We're aiming towards late February. We are having a small problem with passports though. We have to get them re-newed for all three kids plus my youngest needs to be registered with the embassy. We are supposed to go Friday but I am not so sure we're gonna be able to go....we need a miracle right now with that! Her next appointment wasnt until March 31st!!
-
Congratulations!!
Thanks!!!!! We are delighted!
-
Hey guys! My waiver was approved today. The lady from the embassy called me! It took 27 days after it reached London!
Thank you all for your help!!!! Especially you NIGEL! I couldnt have hung in there so long without you!!!!!
-
Thank you both!
Good luck to you clmtdg..I am waiting on jpkeswim to see if they are approved this week as it would be 8 weeks since they filed at the consulate..however it could be next week before they could definitely hear something as there is a slight delay of a few days till it reaches DHS.
I am just shaking my head in confusion. They said they'd make every effort to process it in order as to when it was filed...it should have been decided by now. So we'll see I guess...
How's it going for you Nigel?
-
Nothing new to report here....still waiting...I am hoping for something next week but it probably wont happen. How is everyone else?

Well let's chat instead...when are you leaving for Florida Nigel? Turns out me and my kids may end up in NC until we can find a place to live in Florida. Hubby will have to stay down there and work though. Not what we planned but we'll fix it.
