Congrats in your NOA2
Yes, I know the most important is NOA2 but like someone told me Why to take risks and don't use a few minutes of your day and call? What happen if they wrote the wrong country and you never know it until NOA2? Some countries take a long time to get an interview than others. I don't know if that happens, could affect my case in some way delaying the process. So, I never know what to expect dealing with USCIS.
That convinced me to call and ask for the hardcopy. Also, if I had not called, I wouldn't know they had the wrong address, maybe I wouldn't receive NOA2, neither. So, I think the call was the best thing I did, to avoid possible future problems in that matter.
NOA1 hardcopy shows more information (as names and country of the beneficiary) than a simple text message. By text message I got the receipt number, call me old fashioned, but a "real" notice in where I can check that information is right, give me a sense of comfort and security.
Happy day
That's true, better be safe than sorry
hope you have a smooth (and short) journey!

Thank you, but I was talking about changing my name on my social security number, not on my passport. I guess I wasn't very clear about it, sorry
I want to change my name and my immigration status on my SSN. Can I do that immediately before we get married - and use copy of the k1 visa from my passport as proof of what will be my current immigration status, or do I have to wait for NOA1?
-
Thank you all for the support and the kind words! This website helped me overcome so much, the stress, the pain of being away from my amazing fiance...Knowing that there are other people out there, going through what you're going through, makes it easier. You realize that you're not the only one who feels that it is so unfair to be apart for so many months - all because bureaucracy sucks big time and they're not even trying to improve the system. I'm sorry for the rant, I am a bit too of emotional these days...
-
We never got the hard copy of our NOA1. My fiance called USCIS and they said we'll be fine without it. I have not seen anything about needing your NOA1. Do call if you don't receive your NOA2, that's the notice that's important.

Hey guys, we just got our noa2 - yay - and I am trying to make lists with the things we have to do after I get to the U.S.
I have been in the U.S. before on a J1 visa - work&travel, and I already have a SSN. I saw that for a name change I will need an ID with my old name - passport, and also a document showing my new name - that'd be the marriage certificate. But for a change in immigration status, I have to show them my immigration documents. Will the K1 visa suffice or do I need to wait until I apply for AOS and get my NOA1?

After what seemed like an eternity - 6 months and 6 days - we finally got an answer...
I feel guilty that I am so happy today as one of my friends disappeared 2 days ago while scuba diving and they found him today...Rest in peace, Sean, I know you're looking at me right now and you're smiling, like you always used to...

im still waiting
have u tried contacting ur senator or writing/calling the national customer service line? we've tried all of these, and still nothing...
-
this should give you a rough idea - of course it varies from case to case, country to country and so on

only a couple of days left till we reach 6 months of waiting...called uscis, wrote to our senator..still nothing. any other november fillers who are still waiting?
-
i guess i'm just going to go to an authorized translator and get it done anyways, like you said, better to be on the safe side. thanks guys, i guess i am just being a little bit paranoid

Hey guys,
We're still waiting for our NOA2 (
) and I am trying to get stuff ready for the interview, as well as for AOS. Does anybody know if the birth certificate needs to be translated? I just got a new one - because I lost the old one - and it's in Romanian and English too. Thanks!
-
SO - significant other
they send her the packet - i assumer you're the petitioner, the american citizen, and she is the beneficiary, the foreign fiancee, right?
-
Everytime I try to sign in to my account and check to see if my case has been "touched" I get an internal server error message.
I have checked my username and password and I am not typing them incorrectly. Is anyone else having this problem? Also, has anyone
else been waiting nearly 6 months for the NOA2 from USCIS California? The length of time we have to wait to be with our fiance and
continue on with our lives is just ridiculous.
I know it might sound silly, but the same thing happened to me when i was using my mom's computer and all i had to do was to check it from another computer. i tried over and over again from her computer and it just kept giving me the same error. i don't know why, but maybe this will work for u as well
We are past our 5 month mark as well - Vermont though. it's ridiculous, but i am sure we're almost there, the hardest part is over. hang in there, u'll should get ur noa2 soon

I lived in two countries for more than six months - after the age of 16. So i'm getting police certificates from both countries - Romania and Bulgaria. It took one day to get them - plus the time to travel to Bulgaria. Your fiance(e) is going to need them at the embassy when he/she is going for the interview.
-
Whats the next step after receiving noa2? just so i can be ahead of the game... ive read other Vj'ers timelines but everyone has different things, its quite confusing!..
once ur approved, do they sent the next packet straight to the foreign fiances address/embassy/consulate?...
from what i've read here, most petitions are sent to nvc first and then to the embassy/consulate where ur fiance(e) lives. after it gets there, they are going to send ur SO packet 3 (and maybe 4, depending on the country). check this out, it's very helpful
-
if u have an account there, then u sign in, and u check ur portfolio - and there u will see the date when it was last updated, that's ur touch. some people don't get any 'touches.' honestly, i don't think it matters if u have 10 touches or none
our petition has been touched once, and here we are, over the 5 month mark, still waiting for something to happen

All petitions go to the USCIS Dallas Lockbox facility, where they sort the petitions and send them either to California or Vermont. You might want to check out the instructions: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf
If you're going to use the U.S. postal service, this is the address:
USCIS
P.O. Box 660151
Dallas, TX 75266
For Express mail and courier deliveries:
USCIS
Attn: I-129F
2501 South State Highway 121 Business
Suite 400
Lewisville, TX 75067
And about the money order, I believe you don't have to sign on the back. I think that's for the recipient to sign so that they can cash the money order - not 100% sure so maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Good luck!

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that my fiancé called uscis today and the lady he talked to said they're currently working on petitions from November 2nd. Matt - my fiancé - said she was very nice, very polite - that was a surprise
anyways, i really hope that's true, and that we're next, november
-
hi.. just want to ask hope you dont mind
how to check on that vermont list? i just wanna know.... thanks
Check out Igor's list http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?cfl= and select Vermont instead of California.

This is NOT correct and the USCIS memo stating the foreign fiancee or spouse can sign the G325a at the Consulate has been posted numerous times here. That said, if the OP is having the fiancee mail a signed letter of intent, she might as well send a signed G325a in the same package.
When my fiance and I put together our I-129f package we followed the guide here, and number 9 on the checklist is: 'G-325A filled out by the foreign fiance(e) signed and dated (see example).'
Also, if you check out the instructions for form I-129f you'll see that it is said there that you need to have "a completed and signed Form G-325A for you and a completed and signed Form G-325A for your fiancé(e)."
And while maybe there is such a memo, I just thought that it's always better to be one the safe side and follow the instructions they give you.
-
Hello all, this site indicates that we should submit a Fiance Letter of Intent and provides an example. I've never heard of anything like this required in the initial application. My finance is in Ecuador and I am getting ready to submit the initial application. I even looked at Nolo's guide and it mentions nothing like this. Is this required or absolutely necessary for a smooth process?
Second, this may have been covered but does my fiance need to sign the G-325A or can she sign this at the interview. No instructions on this either. Is there a memo on this or something.
Any insight, direction, etc., would be greatly appreciated.
All the best, Burk
She has to sign the G-325A now, not at the interview.

Maybe you can call them again. Mhen Matt called, the first 2 times they said we couldn't even put in a service request, though we had already reached our 5 month mark. So I told him to call again, and again. And the last time he called, he actually got someone on the phone, who was polite and helpful. And 2 days later we had our approval. We sent a letter to his senator. His assistant told us they will get back to us after they contact VSC, but they never did. I sent an email to VSC. They replied a week later - a day after we got approved
here is what they told us, maybe it will help you:
"Hello

When Matt called them he wrote down the name and the number of the person he talked to. I don't know if you did that, but I strongly recommend that you do next time you call. Then send an email to vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov. And tell them that you have already called the NCSC, and they were no help whatsoever. I did complain in my email about how unfair it is that some people get approved in 1 or 2 months, while other have to wait 6-7 months or more. I complained about the lack of transparency and about their inability to provide the service we paid good money for within the time frame processed. They probably didn't care about my email or all my complaining for that matter. But hey, it's worth a shot. I would be sending them emails every day if I were you. Maybe it seems easier to some people that you are with Aaron while you wait, but heck, the stress and the uncertainty is what killed us over the past months.
Oh, I also found this some time ago and I bookmarked it as it seemed like I'd need it - VSC sucks big time... http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/304363-k1-expedite/
Good luck, and I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that you will receive your NOA2 very very soon!
