  1. Yeah, I don't really look @ Igor's list anymore because I can't believe that out of the 11 VSC I-130 petitioners that registered on this website only one is approved?

But at least now I see that they are indeed working on Oct petitions. I just wish they would update their info more often so that I don't have to keep hearing that they are only up to Sept 25 for the millionth time!

  2. I&jj can u post a sample of your letter?

I grabbed this from someone else and then I added the info I was given the 4 or 5 times that I called. I also complained a little bit about the fact that they won't let me put in a service request right now, knowing that I have waited more than 5 months already, and about how the USCIS website still says 5 month estimated processing time when really it seems they are taking 6 or 7 months to process a case. Hope this helps.

    Dear Congressman/Senator:

I am writing to request that your office make an inquiry to USCIS California Service Center in regards to an I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, I filed last [date filed]. I believe that my case is now out of the normal processing time of 5 months. I have not received any update to my case since [date of last touch].

I would appreciate your office’s kind assistance with regards to my case. Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.

    Sincerely,

    Petitioner's Name

  3. i feel for you guys. the first time i called i was told they were processing sept 11th petitions. the second time around i called after the 14 of march and they told me they are processing sept 25th petitions. i filed an I-130 for my husband which may explain the date difference but since then i've called three more times and they are still stuck on sept 25th. they keep telling me to call again in two weeks. in two weeks it'll almost be 6 months since i filed. i don't get why the website says they are still averaging 5 months to approve a petition when they clearly aren't even letting people put in service requests until they have been waiting 6 months or more. they should either update their website or at least give those of us who have patiently waited our 5 months the service requests that we ask for. if you have to wait 6 months to put in a service request then the website should say they are averaging 6 months to approve petitions.

i've already drafted a letter to my congressman which i will hopefully be sending tomorrow. at this point it seems like it is the only thing i can do to try and get them to stop ignoring my petition.

i wish all of you guys luck and hopefully soon we will all start to get our approvals

  4. I know Montreal for a while had a backlog of 5-7 months between CC at NVC and the interview. It seems to have dropped back to about 2-3 months now, but I remain prepared to hear a 5-month interview date (that is, if I ever get out of USCIS). :clock:

The same happened @ Dom. Rep. People were getting interview dates 3 or 4 months away but lately it seems they are getting them only a month after their case was closed. I hope the trend continues but I'm just going to prepare myself for the worst, especially since these ppl don't seem to want to approve my case

  5. Burebista, I don't think it takes that long. After they give you a case number I think it depends on how proactive you are and how quickly you can make the payments and send in your paperwork. If you get an RFE it can delay it a bit too. I feel like a lot of people usually pass through the NVC stage in a couple of months because they stay on top of them, calling constantly until they get their case # and give them their email addresses, which seems to help a lot too. There are probably a couple of NVC threads on this website that can help you get a better idea of how long it usually takes :)

  6. lbjr I most definitely agree! I'm kind of wishing my case was at CSC right now. I don't think they have enough manpower @ VSC to approve their cases in a reasonable timeframe. Plus they seem to give other types of visa a higher priority than those which are family based.

Soba, I've called twice already. The second time around the agent was going to put in a service request but when she checked which cases are being reviewed she told me they were only up to Sept 25th (I called last Wednesday, March 16th). They aren't going to put in my service request until their system says the are looking at or have already looked at Oct 12th cases. I'm going to keep calling until I get that service request or an approval. Did you call them on Friday? I'm curious to know what date they may have told you they are currently reviewing.

  7. If I were u I'd call back tomorrow and keep calling untill they put in a service request for you. I called and got my first service request befor I even reached my 5months....i believe i still had a week and a half to the 5months and they put it in for me...i didnt even know about a service request i was just calling to check on the petition and the rep suggested i put one in. Keep callin for your sake and ur spouses sake. Good luck!

Yeah, my husband keeps nagging me everyday, asking if I've called them or not. He was all cool, calm and collected throughout the entire process but now his patience is starting to wear thin...as is mine.

I hope that they don't make you wait much longer. Good luck to you as well :)

  8. I've tried to put in a service request but so far no luck. The first time I called I was told that VSC's estimated processing time is 6 months, not 5 as stated on the uscis website. The agent told me that because my petition has only been pending 5 months I should call back in a month and then try to put in the service request because my case would not be considered overdue until it's been pending 6 months. According to their records (this was last Friday, Oct 11) they were currently looking at cases received on Sept 11, 2010.

I of course was not about to wait another month to call back. I called again today and this time around the agent said that my case was past the normal 5 month processing timeframe (these people need to get it together! is it 5 months or is it 6?!?!) and asked if I wanted to put in a service request. I said I would but when she checked the system it says they are working on cases received Sept 25, 2010. She suggested I wait 17 days and call again to put in the service request.

Am I going to wait 17 days?...I don't think so. Maybe when I call next week they'll finally put in the service request, but from the looks of it not even that will help! I've also made 3 trips already since I filed my petition. I can't afford to go again until the interview...whenever that is and if it ever happens...who knows at this point.

  9. Just an update...I called again and you were right..they must have updated their system because this time around I was told that they are processing cases filed on September 25th 2010.

This lady also asked for my case number, type of petition filed and receipt date, however, she agreed that my petition is over the estimated 5 month processing timeframe and asked if I would like to put in a service request. When I said I would like for her to do so she proceeded to verify the current date VSC is processing and because they are not/ have not started processing cases received on Oct 12 she could not put in the service request, but suggested I call again in 17 days.

I don't have the patience to wait another two weeks. I'm going to keep calling every week until they can put in the service request. If my case is still pending after six months I will contact my congress person. Hopefully I'll be approved before I even resort to that option.

  10. still waiting on our NOA2 ughhhh......our 5 month deadline is next friday......praying it happens before then.....and if it doesnt what happens??? i know i call USCIS but from there what will they do????

I called USCIS today. They said that VSC's current processing time is not 5 months how it says on the website, but that their current processing time is actually 6 months. Since my petition was received 5 months ago instead of 6 she could not put in a service request and told me to call back in a month. She also informed me that they (VSC) are currently looking at petitions received on September 11, 2010.

I'm going to call again on Wednesday or Thursday because I was told by another VJ member that they update that information on the 14th of every month. Hopefully when I call again they will tell me that they are looking at cases received sometime in October

  11. This might be some good news for you guys, I know you're all as anxious to be with your spouses as I am...

    WE JUST GOT APPROVED!

"On March 11, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice."

    WOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

####### do I do now? LMAO!

    Lol...congrats!!!! :dance::dance::dance:

If you haven't already done so start reading the guides

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

There are other guides I've seen on here but I don't remember where or how I found them (Ling Che's guide for example).

Hope you breeze through the NVC!

Hi everyone! I've never posted on here before, but just wanted to give you some information on my husband's visa in case it helps at all. Our I-130 was handled by the California Service Center... NOA1 was October 24, 2010 and NOA2 was two days ago- March 7, 2011 (134 days). I hope approval is just around the corner for all of you too!

I'm a little late but congrats!
