  1. Lbjr, it kind of sucks that you can't just call yourself but now that I think about it I guess it makes sense since the petitioner is th USC or LPR (whereas the beneficiary is probably just seen as another foreigner until he/she is granted some type of visa).

    I have also heard that the service centers send them updated info on the 14th of every month and I think it's true. I called once on the 11th of march and was told they were working on sep 11th and then I called again the 16th of march and since then every time I call I am told they are working on sep 25th. I'm going to call tomorrow and hopefully the date they give me will be on or after the date of my receipt.

  2. Congrats Amy! Most of the guides I've read start with: call NVC and get your case # and give them your (and your spouse's) email address so that you can have documents emailed to you as well as hard copies via snail mail. I think most people agree Lotto's guide is the easiest to follow so I'd look for that one and start reading (if you haven't already done so of course :) ).

    Good luck with this more exciting phase of the visa journey!

  3. Lbjr, I think the updates are the "touches". I haven't seen anyone post that they received an email with an update on their status unless it was to inform them of an approval/denial/RFE.

    Did you tell them that you are the beneficiary? I feel like as the beneficiary you should be entitled to call and receive any information relative to the petition at hand, especially being that this petition will be what will ultimately either grant or deny you the ability to apply for an IR-1/CR-1 visa.

  4. I think that's what bothers me the most. The fact that I had to pay so much money for lowsy customer service. Every time I call the rep just plugs in my receipt # into the uscis website and gives me the same info I can find by myself. It's like a slap to the face. And on top of it all they have the nerve to say that their system won't let them put in a service request unless the service center has already started to process petitions received on or after the date on your receipt but they only update this system once a month! What good is that? What if I call on the 14th and they tell me they are only up to Oct 11th? That means I'll have to wait another month just to try to put in a service request, which doesn't guarantee that they'll look at my petition!

    I've expressed all of this in the letters I wrote but who know if they've been read. I think my points are valid and I don't see why they can't help me.

    Well, let me stop ranting now, lol. Everyone here already knows all of this because I'm sure many are living it. The people who need to hear about this and do something about it choose to ignore us.

  5. Lol.

    This process is so disappointing and there are so many cracks in the system. I feel like every step that I take trying to progress only leads me to a brick wall.

    I'm making my fourth trip to visit my husband since we filed our petition. It's the only thing that's keeping me sane for the time being but I can't afford to make another trip unless it's for the interview.

    I'm going to have to find the energy to keep fighting from somewhere because I refuse to continue to wait like this for months on end. It's gotten to the point where I'm starting to think my petition was lost or discarded but until their stupid system says VSC is working on petitions filed Oct 12th or later there seems to be no way for me to find out.

  6. Apologies! NOA2 is from TODAY (April 4th). 5 months 1 week. I'm speechless anyways. I wish everyone here speedy approval as well!

    Best,

    Kira

    Congrats!!! :dance::dance::dance:

    I'm Vermont too...I'll make 6 months waiting on April 12th. I'm kind of starting to feel like my petition is being ignored on purpose :( I sent a letter to my congressman and I also sent a request through his website. I hope that works.

    I am really happy though to finally see some movement from VSC and am hopeful that I'll get my NOA2 soon :)
