  1. NEGATIVE CERTIFICATION OF MARRIAGE RECORD from the National Statistics Office (CRS Form No. 1) Note: Required only for applicants who are married for more than one (1) year

On the requirements it says this. I don't understand what this means, Negative Certification of marriage record. We have been married almost 2 years so it looks like we have to report our marriage to NSO first to get this document. Do you know what we need to bring or submitt to NSO? Thanks.

  2. Hello essysita. Thanks for your quick response. We got married in the US in Massachusetts. No we did not report our marriage to the Philippine Embassy in the US. And Oh my God, all of those requirements that they want; way too much. Why do they make things so difficult for Filipinos? We are about to go out right now so I just briefly reviewed the link you sent me of the requirements. Some of them I don't understand. So when I have a chance later on I will try to figure out exactly what they mean. At that point If I have any further questions, can you please help me out? Thanks.

  3. Hello Everyone. How are you doing? My Wife and I need your help. We've been married for almost 2 years. And she needs to have her name changed in her Philippine Passport and to renew it at the same time since it will expire in about a year or so. My wife is a Greencard holder and we live in the US. But right now we are in the Philippines for several months. So since we are here now we think it's best to get her Philippine Passport updated and renewed. Basically she needs to update her maiden name to her new married last name. That's it. Sounds simple, but when we looked into it, it's not as simple as we thought. We went to NSO to report our marriage, but they said they do not handle it at that specific office. They said to go to Manila to report it there, but they didn't really give any specifics on what we need to bring or do there. And in reference to the name change on my Wife's Philippine Passport, they had no clue what needed to be done for that. The good thing is that we are about one hour away from Manila. But even knowing we are close to Manila, going there can end up being an all day event because of the horrible traffic and then waiting in multiple lines at various government departments. Before we go to Manila, we want to check with everyone on Visajourney first on what you did to get your named changed on your Philippine Passport. Also how long did it take for you to have a new Passort in your hand? So if you have personally completed this process of the name change, we would really appreciate your help and guidance. Thanks in advance.

  4. My wife came on K-1 visa and we tried to get a social for her. They did not give her one because the K-1 visa was expired for about a week. So when we applied for AOS we also applied for EAD. When we got the EAD like a month or two later we brought that to the Social Security office who then issued her social security number. But all of this did not matter with adding her to my health insurance plan from work. I called the health plan to add my wife and they asked for her social. I told them she was here legally here on a K-1 and waiting for greencard and Social. They still added her on my plan without having a social. They just said that when she gets her social to call them and add her. They said the social really didn't matter since I was the primary subscriber. Everything worked out fine and you should also not have any problems. I wouldn't waste your time going back down to the Social Security office until you get her EAD. Good Luck.

  5. Agreed.

This particular update means that her "Welcome to the USA" letter has been mailed. Your case status will change to several other updates in the coming days. Check my timeline, I detailed mine in it.

    Congratulations! :)

Yes, your absolutely right. I checked my wife online status yesterday and it changed to Greencard/document Production. There's even a tracking number for the postal service which I like so we can track it to get an idea when it will arrive.

  6. You should try your local Congressman. I chose him based upon how he voted on past immigration issues/laws. As he is in favor of helping immigrants. My wife filed for AOS from K-1 over 9 months ago and her case was transfered to CSC. It took 1 week for the worker from my Congressman's office to get back to me with an answer from USCIS. They had her case put on an officer's desk to be processed. Then one week after their response we got a notice that the greencard is in the mail and will be here any day. Total time from start to finish was only two weeks. Don't give up. Also is may be better if you actually just show up in person at their office to make you case more personal. Good Luck.

  7. hello! We are october filer and still waiting for our noa2...its been 6 months and we haven't heard anything....we're thinking of trying to ask help from my F's senator or congressman...I would just like to ask for any suggestions whom to contact?(like a specific senator/congressman) my F is from north hollywood california :)

thanks so much and god bless :)

I live in MA and my wife has been waiting for her AOS from a K-1 Visa to be processed over 9 months. I contacted the local Congressman and they got an answer back from USCIS within one week stating that my wife's AOS application was sent to an officer's desk to be processed. So one week later the online case status on the USCIS website stated that the AOS was processed and that she will be getting her greencard soon. So for us it was worth it to contact our Congressman to get the ball rolling. Here's the contact info for your local Congressman and Senators. I would choose only one of them and give them a call. They will tell you what needs to be done to get the process started. Good Luck.

    Congressman

    Rep Brad Sherman - CA(D)

    District: 27

    Phone: 202-225-5911

    or

    Senator Dianne Feinstein - CA(D)

    Senior Seat

    Phone: 202-224-3841

    or

    Senator Barbara Boxer - CA(D)

    Junior Seat

  8. OMG you got your AOS with no interview? Congratulation

    wow you guys are lucky

The downside to no interview was that we had to wait over 9 months for it to be processed. From what I have heard when you have an interview it takes only 4 to 5 months to have the AOS processed. But at the same time we are lucky since we are both together here in the US. Being apart for a year like everyone else has to go through during the first part of the K-1 Visa processing is tough.

Way to be! Be sure and be hanging out by the mailbox.

Absolutely. I've been checking for the last 9 months always hoping to see it, but now we know for sure that it will be soon.

  9. Thanks everyone. We have been waiting for a long time for the AOS to be completed, so we are happy to get the good news. But still the journey is not over since two years from now we'll need to remove conditions. Then after that citizenship. Just needed the greencard soon since we will be leaving the US for at least 5 months or so to visit my wife's family who she has not seen in a while. We also have a newborn baby boy who they are dying to see and spoil. My wife has advanced parole, but we didn't want to be out of the country when the greencard would be mailed to us or if we got an RFE that we needed to deal with or something else. Thanks again and good luck with everything.

  10. Hello Everyone. How are you doing? My wife came to the USCIS on K-1 Visa. We got married last April 2012, after did all of the proper steps and then sent in the AOS application. We have been waiting for about 9 months mostly due to her case being transfered to CSC. Since it was taking so long we contact our Congressman here who made contact with USCIS for us. The Congressman's worker told us that an officer has my wife's I-485 application on his/her desk and will send us a notice of action within 45 days. We received this info about a week ago. Well today I checked the USCIS Website to see if the case status has been changed yet and it has been. It has been changed to decision which states:

    "Decision

On April 9, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision."

So anyways, I was wondering if someone who has experienced this case update before to help explain to me exactly what it means. It appears that she will get her greencard, but it seems that she possibly has to do something first. Could you please help us understand? Thanks for your help.

  11. http://www.massresources.org/wic-eligibility.html Here's the link for my state of MA in reference to WIC.

    Can noncitizens get WIC?

Yes, noncitizens can get WIC. All noncitizens, including undocumented noncitizens, who meet the eligibility requirements can get WIC benefits.

No one from WIC will ask about your immigration status. Getting WIC benefits will not make you a public charge and will not hurt your chances of becoming a legal permanent resident.

  12. My wife has an I-485 application to adjust status from a K-1 Visa which we sent in over 9 months ago. They sent us a NOA telling us they transfered her case to CSC to "Speed up the Processing". Well it has been the complete opposite of that. They list on the USCIS Website that they estimate the processing time to be within 5 months. Also on the NOA it states for us to call them if it is outside of the processing time so they can look into. Well calling the call center was an absolute waste of time. They refused to open a service request or even let me speak with a Teir 2 Rep. In addtion some things she told me were scripted as she was most likely reading off a compter screen. The kicker was at the end of the call. She said if we had any questions or concerns to please do not hesitate to call them back. Well that obviously accomplish nothing. It doesn't bother me that they are working on other types of petitions or applications, what bothers me is that we paid over $1,000 for this and they don't have the appropriate amount of staff to handle the workload. They charge too much money and are providing an extremely slow turn around rate. 9 month for and I-485 is ridiculous. We are waiting in limbo as we need to travel back to my wife's home country very soon. We could take a chance traveling since she has Advanced Parol, but if we get an RFE or a request for an interview then we have to travel back for that. So since calling USCIS was useless, we now have our Congressman's office working on the issue. Luckily they were very interested in helping us with this issue. What other options do we have? The USCIS Customer Service Rep stated that even knowing it says 5 months processing online that there really is no specific time they are required to complete the process. So bascially it can be indefinate according to them. We went through the long K-1 Visa process prior to this so we are blessed that we are now together in the US. I do feel for those who fiances and spouses who are waiting apart in different countries for USCIS to get their act together. I wish everyone the best and hopefully you will be together soon.

  13. Thanks for your quick response. It's unfortunate that we missed it by one day. So the next step it to process the AOS. But I was wondering if we were going to apply for EAD how long do you think that would take? Is it really worth it to get the EAD or is it best to just wait for the greencard? We need to get my wife the SS # so that we can have her name put on everything. Thanks for your help.

  14. Hello Everyone. How are you doing? Well Cherry and I have made it though the main part of the process. She is now here in the US and we have gotten married within the 90 day requirement for the K-1 Fiance Visa. We will be sending in the forms for AOS. The problem is that we are trying to get her name on things like the cable bill, electricity, Bank Accounts, Health insurance, Life Insurance and other things so that we can prove cohabitation. The problem is that she needs a Social Security Number for most of these things.

So on this past Thursday we went to the Social Security office. They would not give her a scocial security number because the experation on her visa was on Wed 5/09/2012. We were one day off. This experation date was the 90 day period we had to get married in, which we did. But the lady at the Social security said that there was nothing that could be done and that my wife is now here illegally. Of course I know that she is not here out of status, but her statement proved that she has no clue about the immigration process. To make matters worse she did not even know what we needed to do to get them the proper unexpired documentation to get my wife a social security number. I asked to speak with a manager and the manager knew even less of the lower level employee knew. I feel like we are at a loss and have no clue what to do next. We need your help. Any suggestions on what needs to be done? We would really appreciate your help. Thanks.
