I hate being cooped up in this place all day, all by my lonesome, 10 to 12 hours a day and 5 days a week
I hate that the only people I have to talk to, are you peeps here on VJ
I am glad that I have VJ or I would go completely nuts
WHy can't you get a job? I was going insane before I got my EAD.

Having a job makes everything SO MUCH BETTER!

Yeah, we shared this info... even talked about past experiences a bit. Numbers wise I have him beat. It doesn't make me jealous thinking of people he's slept with - the only thing I really don't like to hear about is stuff about his ex-girlfriend.
Really I have nothing to be jealous of - we have eachother now!

Yay - congrats
It was probably so obvious to the nice guy that the other guy was on a power trip!

How dare you hate brocolli, it's my favourite veggie
cuz I can't spell it?
But you're the one who spelled it right, Frances!

That's it...I hate mispellers...dang it...use spell check!
But I hate spell check!

I hate cars with Jesus fish on them.
(There, I said it - flame on.)
I'm not too fond of cars with yellow ribbons on them either.
Me either. My husband is a marine and I keep threatening him that I will put a "I
my marine" sticker on the back of the car... hahaha... he HATES those things even more than I hate Jeebus fish
agree with the fish and ribbon dealie....perhaps this should get moved to the "let's start a flame war" thread

Awesome - 18 month, huh? Poo. I filed September 2005 - hubby is out of the military Feb. 2007. At which point we're moving to Boston, looks like I might be stuck with the address change

I've never heard of anything like that...

I got my last job in Canada through a staffing agency. I started off as a temp - 6 month assignment. The pay was less than what the job was worth, but that was the price of getting your foot in the door (and the agency needs to take its cut of what you're making, too - in my case I belive the agency was paid $6/hour) - the company only hired on a temp to permanent basis (excluding upper management, and PhD-level scientists). No benefits, but I don't think that you can expect that from a temp agency anyways. After 6 months I was hired on permanent by the company.
Interviewing for the assignment was just like interviewing for a regular job - the agency recommended me, then the HR dept. and my supervisor @ the company I was to be placed at interviewed me.

I often wonder why Canadians and UK'ers move here. From what I know about their health care system, conpared to ours, I am wishing I married someone from there.
Health care panics me in this country, I have NO insurance and havent for over 3 years now, when they raised my policy to over $800 a month, becuz I am diabetic. So...I married the wrong guy!
I moved here for my husband - and that's all! Also, for a lot of well-educated Canadians, the potential to make a lot more money inthe states DOES exist in certain fields (not down here in SC though, hehe!)
I will have to say that having a job (regardless of what the pay is) has done WONDERS for the adjustment process... for those of you waitng for EAD/the first job, it gets SO MUCH BETTER

No snow is AWESOME.

I took tests like that as well at Robert Half (another temp firm) they do share your results with you, and tell you how well you did in relation to the rest of the pool of applicants in your region. And hey, they kept calling with job oppotunities, too!

I have to let everyone know about my new favorite dish...................
ingredients:
olive oil(garlic if you wish)
chicken cutlets
red roasted peppers
spinach
broccoli(raw or frozen)
sharp provolone cheese(or whatever you like.
Ok sautee' a little garlic in the olive oil..........add the chicken.
When chicken is done, add the spinach, broccoli and red roasted peppers.
I prefer to eat this on a sandwhich roll so I add the cheese and place in the broiler for a minute. Even if you just eat this without the bread it is amazing-I swear
I swear it is delicious-try it
and best of all it takes 10-15 minutes
That looks really good! I love roasted red peppers so much

Oooh... gonna post this recipe that I saw on TV - it turned out to be SO YUMMY. Really easy to make - the only thing I changed was that I used gorgonzola instead of pate (yuck!). The filet is a bit expensive (but worth it) - and it's really nice for a fancy dinner... this is what I made for Valentine's day

I really recommend temp agencies - temp to permanent positions seem to be a trend these days with office jobs (admin assisstants and the like...)!
