  1. I went by myself as well, as my Husband had to work! Good luck with your interview :)

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but rather safe than sorry.

I'm going for my interview on Wednesday, and was not planning on bringing my wife (USC) along since she will be at work. The yellow letter and interview notice said nothing about her having to come along, and I'll have marriage certificate and her passport with me.

Just double checking - no need for her to be there right? I recall reading someone else's interview experience when someone was asked where her (USC) husband was and he was in the waiting room which satisfied the immigration official.

    Thanks!

  2. Well my Husband Simply was wrong.... It was The question about In what war Eisenhower fought.... When I said ww2 he said I was wrong it was ww1....

He did pretty good on most questions but while that day I was only wrong in 4 he answered 8 wrong out of the 100...

Well, I can understand them, since some of the answers aren't exactly right. Take the question about the emancipation proclamation. It didn't actually free the slaves, since it didn't apply to border slave states that were loyal to the union, slavery wasn't legal in the north, and the north had no power to actually enforce such an executive order in the south. So it wasn't technically until the 13th amendment that slavery was really abolished in the US.

  3. Haha same happened here when my Husband asked me the Questions, he always felt like he new better and didn't look at the answers. I answered and he then told me I was wrong and I was like no I know this is right, but then started getting confused. So I went back to solo studying as well. LOL. You got this :) Fingers crossed for Tuesday :)

    Congrats nanners!

    So awesome MayoKy!

I am T-minus 2 days and counting down for mine :) I go in at 9am Tuesday here in theTampa Field Office :)

The bf just quizzed me on the questions after buggin him to help... Was a good test run till he started adding in his own questions and saying I was wrong to answes when in fact I was right! Lol ..l so back to solo study I go... Lol...

  4. I just became an american citizen yesterday. I filed under the 3 year rule. We do not have Children either. We do own a house, but I didn't submit this with my original package. I did bring it with me to my interview though and they filed it but I think a copy for an apartment lease is just as good.

I didn't send any evidence with my application, other than the Tax returns, filed jointly for the last 3 years.

The Officer had all my paperwork there at the interview from all the years before so keep in mind they still have everything you had submitted for you AOS and ROC.

I wouldn't worry too much and send off the application, and then you can prep a few more forms and bring to your Interview and in case they ask for it you can hand them some more things.

Good luck :) and keep us posted

  5.

For others, this is absolutely wrong and is illegal. Knowingly providing false information on a tax return is illegal.
It doesn't matter whether or not you will get in trouble or if they will bother to check. No one on this site should be advised to break the law just because they probably won't be caught.

  6. I had my Oath Ceremony today and it was a beautiful ceremony with 63 people from 28 Countries. The Gentlemen who did my interview was also there for USCIS and after the ceremony we all chatted for a few minutes and he said he loves his job so much, cause usually during the interviews they really don't get to know the Applicants very well cause they have so many interviews that they just rush through and focus on the questions and all that important stuff but he loves to be a part of the oath ceremonies and get to know the new Americans even better afterwards.

It took almost 2.5 hours but I enjoyed every minute of it! Good luck to everyone else, you are almost there!

  7. Congratulations Nanners :)

    Almost there :)

Thanks everyone for your support! My interview went great!

All in all it took about an hour and a half, with the actual interview lasting a little less than 30 minutes. The downtown LA Federal Building has a designated waiting room where I waited for close to an hour. Note that this office allows cell phone usage! (during finger printing cell phones had to be turned off at the LA location) Many people also brought a family member, which I didn't realize you could do. They did have to stay in the waiting area while the person was getting interviewed.

My interviewing officer was a pretty nice guy. He was flying through questions while verifying information in my application. I brought everything I thought they may ask for (tax returns, husband's passport, photo copies of everything, marriage certificate, etc). He didn't ask for a single thing and sure enough I didn't need the extra photos (glad I didn't waste my time). I was grilled on my employment history (I'm a freelancer) and he asked numerous times if any of my vacations outside of the country lasted more than six months.

The test portion was at the very end of the interview. I lucked out with some of the easiest questions:

    1. How old do citizens have to be to vote?

    2. What ocean is on the west cost of the US?

    3. What is the law of the land?

    4. What is the name of the national anthem?

    5. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

    6. What major event happened on 9/11/01 in the US?

Then he had me read a sentence out lout and write down "There are one hundred senators". I actually though I didn't have to take this portion of the test since I've been a permanent resident for over 20 years. But it was a piece of cake.

He congratulated me and said that my oath ceremony could be as early as February. So excited this is almost over with!! :dancing:

Oh and a tip to anyone interviewing here: There's an $8 flat rate parking lot on Temple St. within a block of the building. Cash only.

  8. I must have missed that part, I did not bring extra photos and I was not asked for them either... That being said, if you are not in a rush with your citizenship and can deal with a delay in case this happens I would probably just wait and see.

Good luck with your Interview :) You got this :)

My big interview day is tomorrow! Eeek!

I've been sorting through all my documents and just noticed that they recommend bringing another set of 2x2 photos. I find it ridiculous that this is not mandatory, but recommended. I would rather not spend the extra $20 to go get those photos taken nor do I have the time.

To those with their interviews behind them - did you bring extra photos? Were they needed?

  9. You can travel with your Green-card and passport from you original country if you need to travel internationally! And depending on where you are from and where you are going you will also need a visa!

    NOT TRUE in my case.

the only place whre you can travel with GC is within USA flight or land & Canada or mexico by land.

GC can not be used to travel internationally else where because it is not a passport or travel document.

you can't travel internationally to asia, europe with GC. you need PP or any valid TD

  10. :idea::thumbs: Thank you!!

FYI, if you can't get an appointment for any reason, consider coughing up $184.95 at the post office and get it expedited, with overnight delivery. I renewed my passport a couple of weeks ago and had it back in 7 days.

Here is a link to the application page. You can fill it out and save it to your HD.

    http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/apply.html

  11. I believe you will have to wait 120 days before they will do anything... Fingers crossed you will get the oath letter soon. She / He can still travel with her Green Card and Passport from her original country. Hope this helps!

It has been 41 days exactly already not counting today since the applicant passed the interview with recommended approval in Chicago office. The online status is outdated and the customer care agents just tells to wait! Hasn't received any email yet other than the one in early august that says the application received!

We have international trip in March and we have been unable to plan accordingly because the applicant doesn't have any passport or travel documents yet.

This is a headache for us!

Should the applicant ask for US senator's office help in this matter?

    Any advise?

    Thanks

  12. I filed under the 3 year rule and did not bring Tax returns to the Interview. I however had sent them with my original n400 package. The IO didnt ask for any of that, just additional documentation that has both my husbands and my name on it that USCIS does not have yet. (from all applications)

Good luck on the Interview :)

I remember reading a while back that it is recommended that you bring tax returns from the past five years to the interview. This was not indicated on my yellow letter.

To everyone that has had their interview - did you bring tax returns? My interview is next week! Getting excited

  13. UGH what a nightmare Deidre... I am so sorry! And also for everyone else, I hope you will get positive News soon. It is almost ticking me off, when people claim you just married for papers. Most of us come from Countries where we had a very very good life and for most of us I am sure it was extremely hard to leave everything behind. But we did it because we deeply fell in love with someone.

Now for the few that just came here for papers.... Thats a different story of course.....

If you make peace, do it so you have peace in your life - mind/body/spirit..
Just don't make peace just because you want you ex to be truthful instead of lie.. You def don't want to have your ex holding something like this over your head! Coz you know she/he would do something just out of spite...

J.shep40 sorry to hear about the nasty divorce.... I went thru a divorce also, tho different situation... Not nasty but have no idea where the ex is.... it all happened after ROC. My USC hubby (now ex-hubby) cheated. He denied everything of course... Long story short I moved on with my life for the better, he moved on for the worse apparently, he didn't want anyone to know why we split and started telling everyone I did it for the papers... Blah blah blah. ... He disappeared to somewhere, living under the grid, not even submitting taxes (nothing!), had to get my divorce thru publication as not even a PI could find him... And at this point, I think that unless USCIS have a psychic they will be hard pressed to find him if they need him.. But hopefully there is no need for that anyways!!

  14. Received my Oath Date in the Mail today :) Updating the list :)
