I noticed that!! Fingers crossed for you

Your timeline has been within a few days of mine every step of the way I hope that means I'll be receiving news of my oath ceremony soon too!

I did.. here you go

I just got home! I was recommended for approval but he said it could be a couple of months until I will get my Oath Ceremony letter. I didn't like to hear that lol but I guess they don't do very many Ceremonies here, so now we are back to waiting

Here is my experience.

My Appointment was at 10am and I got there at 9:40am (my interview letter mentioned that because there is not very many seats, that we shouldn't arrive more than 30 minutes before our Interview Appointment). The Lady at the Window was very nice and asked me for the interview letter, my passport and my Green Card. I handed everything to her and she thanked me and said they will call you in as soon as it is or time!

I took a seat and waited. A few minutes later a lady came back in and asked for her Mother in Law. She was very happy and cried and said she passed the test I was so happy for her that I almost started crying as well

Then the next guy came back.. He was with his lawyer, most people were there with a lawyer which at first intimidated me, I thought did I miss something? Anyways the guy had not passed and the lawyer explained to him why not right in front of me. When he was sworn in he was asked to swear and he just said yes, then the IO asked can you explain to me what this means and what the word truth means? Apparently he couldn't. He then was asked 5 Questions for the Civics test and failed all 5. He then also said no to ALL yes and no Questions even the ones like "would you defend the constitution" and "would you join the military in a war situation" and all that. So the Lawyer told him not to worry and he would get another interview letter in 60-90 days and he should start studying again. So I thought.. well... I guess it does happen that people fail this... dang.. I felt and for him.

So I was next. The IO was a nice younger guy and introduced himself with his name. He took me to his room and all my paperwork was already in front of him.

He asked me to read "Which State has the most people" And then asked me to write "California has the most people"

Then he immediately went to the Civics test, my Questions were
1. There is 4 amendments to the Constitution, describe one of them
2. Who Vetoes Bills
3. During the cold war what was the main concern int he US
4. If the president can no longer serve who becomes president
5. What was one reason Colonists came to America
6. What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment

I answered all Questions correctly.

He asked me if I wanted to submit any other Documentation that USCIS doesn't have yet that has both mine and my husbands name on it, so I gave him the HUD from when we bought a house last year and some more bank statements from the last two years.He seemed to be satisfied with it and just filed it to the other gigantic stack of paperwork. He then went on to go over my application, asked if I wanted to Change my name or not and the yes and no Questions and then gave me all my IDs back. He said hang on to that Green Card for now you are not a Citizen yet but you will not need this much longer and we will take it back at your Oath Ceremony. You should be receiving a letter to come to your oath in the next few months. ( I was hoping he would say weeks but oh well it is what it is ) He said they would run one last background check on me but as soon as I would get that approval and the last signature from his boss I will get scheduled for oath...

That was it, It only took 10-15 minutes and it was a lot easier than expected Im still glad its over with though. Good luck to everyone else that has interviews coming up And fingers crossed it will be as smooth as it was for me for all of you

I just received Text and Email that my Oath Ceremony notice was mailed... I am super excited, can't wait to learn the date

Thank you . It was quite of a journey. I thought I wouldn't make it on time. It was supposed to start at 10, but because of the bad weather, they waited until everyone got there, which was 11. The ceremony was simple and last only for 15 mins (I guess the judge wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, before the snow storm got worse). At the end, an uscis officer gave each of us the certificate on the way out. I went there by myself and there was no problem.

Congratulations!!!!

Finally, I am a US citizen!!!

By myself, my husband had to be at work! It wasn't a problem at all! The IO didn't ask about it but asked a few Questions about our marriage so in that time frame I mentioned why he wasn't there but it didn't seem to bother the IO!

I had my interview today and I passed the English and civics test and was recommended for approval

I arrived about 15 minutes before my appointment and was called in about 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment. The IO went over my paperwork, asked my to read "Who can vote?" and then write "Citizens can vote." Then I was asked the civics questions, "What group of people was brought to America for slavery?" "Who is the vice-president?" "Why did America fight Britain?" "How many ammendments are there?" I can't remember the other two but I got six right in a row. The IO then said I passed the interview, handed me a notice that said I passed and was recommended for approval, and I will receive my oath notice in 1-4 months. It all took 10, maybe 15, minutes max.

So glad to have this phase of the citizenship application over!

Everyone seems to be getting this notice.. I didn't get anything he just verbally told me I was recommended for approval.. did my IO just forget to hand it to me?

No Oath Date yet... He told me it will be MONTHS until I get my letter... and I should be patient.. Didn't like hearing this.. but oh well Back to waiting

Jimmy, You could always try to give them a call and possibly talk to a level 2 officer. Though I recall something about having to wait 120 days, still in the worst case they will tell you to wait a little longer.

Yes, my interview went smooth. IO is a nice lady. The first question she asked me is why I want to be U.S citizen. I answered it is because my husband is U.S citizen and I supposed to be. She laughed to my answer. My interview took about 30 mins. English and civic test took only about 5 mins. She asked me so many questions to our marriage. I feel like more than my green card interview but very friendly way, just like casual conversation.
She asked me to read a sentence "what state has the most people?". And She asked me to write "California has the most people". The questions for civic test are;
1) there are 4 amendments to the constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.
2) what is one right or freedom from the first amendment?
3) who is the in charge of excecutive branch?
4) if the president can no longer serve, who becomes president?
5)what is one reason colonists came to America?
6) during the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?
Then she said I passed the English and civic test but she said she needs to go over the questions to my N400 form and asking spelling to the name, address, phone number, work...
In this point I asked her if it is possible I change my mind to add my husband last name to my name. (In our culture it is not necessary to take husband last name so that I didn't change when we married). She said she can change my last name to my husband but she can't add since my name is too long and they no longer do name change. I don't wanna take off my last name. So, I ended up keeping my current name. ?
After all the questions to N400, she let me sign in the sheet and hand me a paper to read. That's interview result!!!

She also gave me notification to oath ceremony on Jan 21 2015. Wow...that's only 16 days away. Can someone update, please?

I did not know this either, maybe it is similar to buying a house. They Check your credit when you first apply and then again a few days before closing to make sure nothing has changed.. something like this would be my only logical explanation

Don't know why they had to do the background check again after the interview. I thought the background check is done after finger prints and if the background is okay they will issue a interview date or place inline for the interview.

Thanks girl I know you will do well and still might beat me in the end with the oath lol! He mentioned it like 3 times that it will take months to get the letter and mentioned also that he can't tell me when or where , all that didn't make me very hopeful that it will happen anytime soon lol!

I felt terrible for the guy who didn't pass as well! He must have not studied though cause after I answered all questions the IO mentioned... See it's not hard if you study... Since I was in there right after him I wondered if that was a comment to the interview before me! I hope he will pass though next time around

My Interview is tomorrow an I am really nauseous / nervous about it. I know everything will be fine, I got the Questions down and writing and reading shouldn't be an issue... But I still can't help but being nervous

I look at it this way, US Naturalization is not mandatory. When you become a US citizen, you are entitled to all the benefit that come along with it.

Hey all and Happy New Year. I am prepping for my Interview and just went through all the paperwork that I will be bringing with me. ( I filed under 3 year rule) I also read the yellow letter again and noticed that it says because you are filing under Section 319 of the INA please provide your State or Foreign issued Marriage Certificate. Now its not a problem to bring that and I already had this in my folder anyways, however I did not file under Section 319, should I mention this in my interview on Tuesday? Hoping this doesn't cause any bigger issues!

I just had my interview today, and I was recommended for approval after 20 minutes. I applied under 3 year rule and with a lost green card. I lost the card the past summer. I figured I would apply for the citizenship instead of paying 450 only for a replacement card. So here is my recap of the interview:

- Waited 30 mins to be called. It seemed like everyone before me got approved since they looked happy when they got out of the room. My female officer was very friendly. She asked me to put my passport, driver license, and green card on the table. I told her I lost it a few months ago and that I only had my conditional one now. She took my conditional one and said that I needed to fill out a sworn statement that everything I said about it was true. I just actually signed my name on the form which she printed out from her computer. After that, I had the civic test. Then she asked me about those yes-no questions from the application form. While she was filling out some paperwork, we had small chitchat about my husband and schooling. I was so surprised that she was so friendly and happy to me.

- Then she said congratulations! oath ceremony should be scheduled in Jan or Feb. I asked whether or not I could request it be held in Feb since I have a trip sometime in Jan. She said no, but I could write a letter to reschedule if that was the case; otherwise I would have to pay again for the application.

- Some highlights: She didn't ask to see any evidence. I offered her to see some, but she said NO.

Overall, it's a very smooth process; it only took 2 months. Because I was short of money, I was so scared that they would require me to apply for a replacement card first before approving. My immigration journey is almost over. Thank you everyone on this forum for the past 4 years.

Still waiting on the letter to arrive in the mail I just got the email that they have scheduled my interview and i should receive the letter before 12/28

I received an email just now that my interview has been scheduled, wow i didnt expect this so soon... time to get serious about studying...

I received my hello letter a few days before my fingerprint appointment, but i don't remember the date, should I put an approximate date of like 11/12 admins?
