I called the Hotline today to check on my passport card that I never received. Even though I had requested this from the post office and he even repeated it to me, he only charged me for just the passport book and therefore only the passport book was ordered... Oh well I opted to - for now - just not to worry about my card... at least it wasn't lost in the mail.... This means I'm done so I reddened my timeline

I still have not received my Card yet. Even though passport and certificate have been here for days now... I wonder if I should call them to see whats going on? Looking at other peoples timeless they usually revoked them within a few days of getting their other things..?!

The check was cleared electronically so there is no image... I have already thrown my envelope out I don't remember exactly what city but I think it was mailed from Maryland or so.... Sorry wish I could help but I have no idea

I had my interview on Monday at the San Francisco office. Everybody that works there is super nice. I would recommend that you arrive earlier than you normally would because there's a line to get inside the building. The entrance process is very airporty, you gotta take your shoes off and go through an X-ray door frame. That line took so much of our time that I had barely sat down when they already called me in! Surprisingly we started with the civics test (Q: How many senators, the declaration of independence, who is in charge if the president and vice-president can't, how many justices on the supreme court, how many years senators work for, one branch of government) then we went through every question on my 400 form. My memory works in a way that I remember the phone numbers of my elementary school friends, but I don't remember the year when I moved to this house. I can also remember the names of the American Idol, Amazing Race and Survivor contestants, but I've no idea of how many times I left the country in the last 5 years. Other than those snafus everything else went great. The IO made "7 annotations" to my form (I want to think that's normal) and told me I was being recommended for approval and would hear from them sometime in the next 1 to 3 months. Hopefully I'll get the oath invitation soon

Today I passed the interview and took the oath in Newark, NJ - I am finally a US Citizen! My wife can't call me anymore a freaking immigrant haha

I ran into a problem though that I would like to share: I filed the N400 80 days before the third anniversary of my permanent residency as part of the early filing process. However apparently 3 full years must pass also from your wedding date. I happened to file the N400 on October 10 while I got married in October 11, 2011...the officer pre-approved me however he said that this is considered a potentially non-compliant application and therefore it needed the approval of another officer as well. I had to wait to unpleasant hours before being officially approved. In the end everything went well so that's the important thing.

Step 5. Report Your Change in Citizenship to the Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration requires any person who has a change in his or her immigration or citizenship status to report that change to the Social Security Administration (see Your Social Security Number And Card ).

Reporting this change is actually to the benefit of you, the new citizen. Why?

• The social security database will be updated showing you as a US citizen. This database is shared with all federal agencies and many state agencies further validating your US citizenship status with the federal and state governments.
• With your social security records updated showing you as a US citizen, it will be much easier in the future to apply for and receive all social security benefits entitled to you.
• If you ever have to replace your social security card, obtaining a new card will be easier now that you are a US citizen.
• Lastly, in some states, certain disability benefits are only available to US citizens. By changing your citizenship status with the Social Security Administration, you will ensure you receive all disability, retirement, and social security benefits for which you qualify as a US citizen.

You must report the change by completing Form SS-5 and by visiting your local Social Security Administration office in person. The change cannot be done by mail. To find the office nearest you, see Office Locator.

When you visit the Social Security Administration office, you must bring proof of US citizenship such as your Certificate of Naturalization or your US passport and some other form of picture ID such as a driver’s license. You must also bring the completed Form SS-5 or you can just obtain the form there and complete it while you are waiting.

Your will be interviewed by the Social Security Administration office staff. They will verify your citizenship and then update your records. Updating your social security records will not result in a new social security card being issued to you unless there were restrictions on your old card. If you would like a new social security card, make a request for one during your interview with the office staff.

Question: What is the updating of your social security number all about? I received my SS # when I got my 2 year green card. What difference does it make if you tell SS government that you are now a citizen? Can someone explain clearly?

Yes I was told you can reschedule but only once. If someone can't make it to two different oaths ceremonies they basically have to start over!

Good question! And you know it's interesting you ask, because I too am now wondering if it were just me?!

Any which way.... yes, once the IO completed reviewing my file and I passed all civics questions and the reading/writing portion, as she was finalizing all the things she needed too, she handed me a piece of paper, which in fact is the last page of the N-400 application - page 21 of 21.

And she asked me to read aloud the Oath of Allegiance (part 17):
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen;
that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic;
that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law;
that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law;
that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and
that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."

Then once I read out the whole thing to her, I printed my name and signed the bottom of that page.

Hope this info helps I think by its point they aren't testing your English skills but you def would practice reading and pronouncing the words, coz even me an English speaker have never ever said or heard the word "abjure" or "potentate" so as I was reading it out aloud I was thinking to myself 'here's hoping I pronounced it properly!'...

The Oath ceremony took about two hours. Approx. 6,000 people in the ceremony.

I never received a notification that I was inline for oath, I only received an Update after Oath was scheduled. I was told this could take up to 4 months after the interview and depends on the amount of oath ceremonies in your city and how many people are waiting. Good luck

Congrats to everyone that has passed their interview so far! Seems like it's been going very smoothly for all.

I received an email notice that my oath was scheduled on Monday (less than a week after my interview!). I'm hoping that letter gets here today with my date.

On-line status updated: Oath Ceremony scheduled; notice was sent by mail with the date, time and location of ceremony. Yey! Fingers crossed that everyone waiting get their letters soon!

If you have filed under the 3 year rule, I would bring additional evidence of your marriage. I brought a few more bank statements from the time frame of after ROC and now and a copy of our HUD of the house we bought last year. I also had brought a few flight tickets and such things. My IO just asked me after the Civics test if I had anything else that USCIS had not gotten from me in the past and that I would like to add, so I gave them the Bank Statements and Hud, but i kept the flight tickets and a few things i had submitted in my ROC package!

In the rare case that they want to see something else that you don't have on you that moment they allow you to mail it in after the interview. Good luck with the process

Hope you get your Oath letter soon I didnt get an approval letter either after my interview! just the verbal "you passed and should get your oath letter soon. 6 days letter my online status changed and another week later I had my oath letter in hand Fingers crossed

Good Morning Everyone!!

So i just completed my Interview & Test this morning! Success!! At least that what i think lol... unfortunately here at the Tampa office their "computer system isnt working today" and therefore they are unable to give out any determinations or print out of approval etc doh! but IO said that i passed everything and it all looks good, Ill get a notice in the mail.

So here is my experience:

My interview was set for 9am, I arrived at approx 8:15am so i stayed in my car to review my paperwork and go over civics questions, at about 8:30am i walked inside. As soon as you open the door, the security checkpoint is right there, they ask for your notice, shoes off etc etc and walk thru their checkpoint just like you do at an airport, then a couple of feet to the right is the Check-In Desk, so walked right up, they asked for the notice and got checked in (the guy said to the other lady at the desk "ive got 40 now", and she said "ive got 39", as they looked at their list of names), i was then told to go to the waiting area to the right.

Waiting area was large, at least 100-150 people could fit in there, and on one side were "booth windows" whereby if you had an InfoPass Appt you would go there. This morning there was maybe 40 people or so. At the end of the waiting area was a door where the IO's would come out and call names... was kinda funny to see everyone look up each time the door would open (incl myself!). I was surprised to see that peoples' names were called but no one ever came up to them, at least 4 or 5 times diferent names being called out but no one to be seen...

Finally I was called up, i was relieved to see my IO was smiling and pleasant (after all the horror stories ive heard lol), went thru the door and we walked down to her office. She asked me to take a seat for a moment while she finished up something on another persons file. Then when she was done, she asked me, "ok please stand up and raise your right hand... etc etc". Sat back down. Thats when she told me their computer system isnt working, but she'll be able to tell me if i pass everything. She asked me for my PR Card, Drivers License & Passport. She then asked me to confirm if it was me in the 2 photos i provided with the N400, and if thats my signature, and if my signature was the same on all the documents and IDs. Yes to all. She then asked for me to sign on the front of my photos on the left side edge with a sharpie. Done!... interesting to note, the IO did NOT look inside my passport or even a close look at my ID & PR Card.

So then she went over my N400 - reconfirming my name, address, age, where i work, where i live. She picked questions at random from the questions i answered on the N400 and would read these out, ticking off the ones she asked ensuring that i replied verbally the same answers i marked (the whole time she is looking down reading and marking). She asked my marital status, i told her i was divorced. She looked up and asked to see if there was any other document from the divorce in additon to what i submitted, i told her no thats all i was given by my lawyer and i tokk out the real copies and showed her, she glanced at them and said OK... she asked why I divorced, and told her that my Ex-Spouse cheated. (She never asked me for dates of marriage or separatin, only for the divorce).

She asked about travel outside US and when my last time was, then if i have any kids "no", ever used a different name "no", did i change my name after i married "no", and if i want to keep my original name or change it "yes keep my own name please" lol..

Then she looked back down at my N400 and continued asking randomly picked "NO" questions, kept marking as i was answering. Then she looked up and asked "have i ever been a prostitute"..no.. "have i ever married someone to get immigration status"...no.. "have i ever lied to get benefits"...no.. then looked back down.. "have i ever been to jail" ...no..."have i ever received a traffic ticket from a police officer", i said "yes", she looked up and then asked "when", and i replied "about 4 to 5 years ago", she said "ok"... and kept it going...onto the "YES" answer questions...

Tick tick tick, a few notes, then "please read the first line"... "Who Lives in the White House?" and then "please write on line number two 'Native Americans were the first to live here'". Done !. Then, while she was signing and stamping, she asks me a question, now realizing we are up to the civics portion... questions asked were:

1. What is the Rule of Law?
2. Who is your States Governor?
3. What are two national holidays?
4. Who wrote the Declaration of Independance?
5. Who was the first President?
6. What ocean in on the East Coast?

All done! She then asked for me to read out the Oath, and then asked me to also sign the last few pages. Then said "ok now remember i cant give you an official document today but you did good. If there is anything i need i will be in touch with you, but everything looks to be in order. So you will receive a notice with the final judgement". She then organized my file and said she will walk me to the door at the end of the hallway.

We walked to the door, i said thanks and shook her hand, she walked back and i went back out the door (again so funny because when i walked out, there were alot more people in the waiting area and everyone had eyes on me... sorry yall im not an IO!) lol

So.... yipppeeeeee all done. Less than 20 minutes in and out. Now i have the day off to relax! i have no worries about my result as everything was positive and did not sense at all that the IO was concerned about any topic we covered. Now the waiting of the Notice in the Mail begins

Congrats!! I had my interview yesterday, and I also didn't receive anything in writing, but my I.O. didn't mention a problem with the system. Maybe that was also the case. Hopefully we'll receive our Oath notice very soon!
