  1. Anna just got out of her interview --- Approved! Super easy, she was asked two questions. We already have plane tickets purchased, and I'm flying out in 2 days to go on vacation with her (Cottage in the Highlands of Scotland!), and then we'll fly back together on August 8th and move directly into our brand new house, with a brand new dog we're picking out on August 9th, and we'll be done with immigration for a solid 2 years!

    :dance::dance::dance::dance:

    Best wishes!!!

  2. I'm a little late but CONGRATS to you and your family!

You finally made it! I am so so so happy for you guys :)

Hey!! I almost claimed for my "Carlton dance" tongue.gif I knew you wouldn't forget me biggrin.gif

Thanks so much!! Now I'm waiting to have the visa in hand.

BTW good luck with the interviewgood.gifgood.gif

  3. We got our SIF and case complete in 2 weeks after sending in the last set of forms to NVC.

We figured it will take a while to hear back, so I"m in Iran visiting my wife for 2 weeks when just 3 days ago we got an email from NVC.

The email says our case is completed at NVC and we are scheduled for interview on Aug 2nd in Naples Italy.

The interview date is exactly 2 weeks from the email date that was sent from NVC.

At first we were so happy to hear we got an interview already. We were shocked with joy!!!

But, then the reality hit us... She needs to get a visa for travel to Italy from Iran. To get her visa the Italian embassy requires we first get airline tickets, hotel reservations and get in a 2 day waiting list just to get inside the Italian embassy in Tehran to apply for her visa. It seems impossible in this short amount of time. Not sure how long it takes for them to get her visa. They also require the letter for interview at US embassy in Italy for this, so we can't just get her visa in advance.

The airline tickets are also twice as expensive (because of short notice) and non-refundable so if for some reason the visa for Italy takes more than 3-4 days to get, we loose lots of money.

Now, although I hate to do this I have to ask to reschedule the interview date. :crying:

The letter from NVC didn't say anything about medical exam or how to schedule for one either, just says you're scheduled for interview on Aug 2, 2011 at Naples, Italy.

Not very helpful at all, so I spent hours on the internet trying to figure out how or where we would need to go for medical exam.

We're still not sure if we can just show up or we have to make an appointment.

Anyway, does anyone know where / who we need to contact for interview rescheduling?

The letter from NVC doesn't give any specific information on that either. It says some embassies schedule their own and others utilize outside service. It gives some direction to go to NVC site to determine this, but going there doesn't give much more info either.

We are bumbed that we couldn't stay with Aug 2nd date, but don't have much choice to get thing done in time.

If anybody knows where / how to contact for re-scheduling and anymore info on medical requirements please let us know.

Call the Embassy Monday 1st thing in the morning, they are the only ones who can really help you. All you'll get from here are speculations, each visa process case is unique.

And you know what? You've been through the hardest part of the process, keep the faith, everything will be ok.

    Good luck good.gif

  4. My fiancee is having her medical on monday morning and she is wondering if its ok to eat the night before the exam ... or does she have to starve..? I was gonna call the office where she will have her exam but is saturday and is closed...

    Hi there,

No she doesn't need to fast good.gifthe blood tests are to see whether she is immunized against

diphtheria, tetanus, polio (DTPolio)-measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)

    -hepatitis B

    Good luck

  5. Lidia & JB , what kind of questions asked to your daughters. I am bringing my two daughters to the US (6 years and 18 years) and would like to know. Also what means kind of expedite interview ? One reason of it for asking an interview in August could be starting school in early September ? My little one does not speak English and would like at least she starts school on time

Hi there, well actually he just played jokes with her, and when he finished going through the file he made her swear and sign (she is 14, children under 14 years old don't sign) He spoke French very well, so he kept on going from French to English all the time even with her, she speaks some English.

Don't worry, I guess they learnt to deal with children :)

    Good luck

  6. Thank you!! I hope it goes smoothly too. Don't want anymore delays, even though I wasn't delayed anywhere near as long as you :o

Yesterday I saw a huge stamp on every single document of my file, guess what? I was approved at NVC since May 25 (of course I didn't complain to the CO), still they sent me a last RFE on June 6. It was regarding my birth certificate, which I was told to bring to the interview, the CO didn't even ask for it, I suggested it to him :bonk::wacko:

  7. YAY!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

    So happy for you!!

I can understand the not getting excited until the visa is in hand! I wont be really happy until I set foot in Texas!!!

Hope you get your visa quickly and have a quick and smooth POE!!!

    Thanks

You bet I'll feel safe when I'll be at home sweet home Alabama

Wishing you a smooth interview, and I hope you won't wait under a pouring rain like I did yesterday ;)

  8. If there was bad news, they would have told you at the interview. Taking your passport and saying you will get it back next week is good news smile.gif

It's no big deal that he didn't look at your photos, since in general they couldn't care less about additional relationship proof in Paris. The interviews do go fast there, so it's not out of the ordinary that it seemed rushed. It sounds like everything went just fine to me, but having been in your place I know you won't feel total relief until the visa is in hand! It will all be over soon!

    You're right good.gif

My daughter keeps on telling me " Mom we are approved, the gentleman said we will receive the passports next week" I've been waiting for so long, I had figured it out differently, I thought they would torture me...and then, just these words " it's ok" that's all he said wacko.gif

  9. So I guess I'm approved blush.gif

The CO didn"t ask many questions, he said no need for more evidences, played jokes with my daughter then he said " it's ok , you will receive the passports within a week" he never said the words "you're approved" wacko.gif It took a few minutes after more than 4h at the waiting room.

I'm in a state of "I don't know what to say" I'll be relieved once I have my visa in hand

  10. That sounds like an approval to me, Lidia! They didn't say "approved" at my husband's either, but if they take your passport and don't give you anything requesting more documents or saying you're on AP, it's APPROVED! Congratulations!

Our ticket was issued at 12:43pm, we were interviewed by 4:15, the guy went so quickly through the file, I asked him if he wanted to see the pli of pics I had brought, he said no. when I told him we gor married in Madison Al. then he said so you speak English, I said yes, he started speaking English and was amazed I could speak it fluently, that was the only time he had a weird look. He played jokes with my daugther while he was checking the documents, making her laugh, that was cute.

We had a sort of "expedite interview" that's why it's hard to believe it's done. Well I guess he was tired of asking the same questions all day long

  11. Our interview went off without a hitch. We got there first in line, C1 on our ticket. Ended up being the last to leave still though, I don't really understand that.

I was hoping to be out by 9, but it was 11:30 or so when we finally left. Kids weren't to excited about that.

Interview was her asking the kids how they felt about moving to Texas, asking my wife how long I worked at my current job (weird question since I didn't even remember when I started very well) and me standing in background while she punched numbers.

She asked about my wife's 2 year stay in Texas which we figured would be reason enough for them to deny us, but all they asked was if we had any problems with the border and if she had been ordered to leave via immigration judge.

I even brought my research on Duration of Stay visa's and the memo to Montreal regarding them, but didn't need them, or any proof of the marriage.

Glad its over with, now we just get to sit and wait for our visa's to be delivered. I hope to drive up and pick them up on the 28th, hoping thats enough time to get them delivered.

    Awesome!!!

    Congrats kicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gif

  12. Just got the phone call from the wife her visa is Approved!!!

She was in out in 1 Hour...

She walked in at 7:30 am

She was asked to sit for awhile after which they called her to the window, Asked her for her passport and gave back the original documents and took her Fingerprint.

Then she was asked again to have a seat, after waiting for a while they announced her name and told her to go to a certain window.

  13. Hello VJ members, i'm newbie here and i've got a question

we're sending civil documents to nvc and it needs a photocopy of original documents

do i have to get the notified photocopies by notary , (as i'm from india so indians must know notification process)

or i just have to photocopy the documents and send them along the originals

Hi there, just a normal copy of all the documents, actually you have to send a double package, 1 with originals and 1 with copies.

    Good luckgood.gif
